Yes!

I was playing with some guy, and he remained somewhat quiet throughout the majority of the game, all I could hear was the random cough and the heavy breathing, then he suddenly went "OMG, SHE'S A GIRL!!" and began to cackle excitedly.
Some guy on my PS3 list asked me out twice, despite me telling him I had a boyfriend and lived in England.
Having a female avatar on PS home causes loads of guys to come up to you and say "hia sexy, show us ur tits" and try to make your avatars touch in a sexy way.
I was on my boyfriends account and changed his avatar to a tall, thin, blonde female. The amount of men who came up and tried to flirt was amazing.
The best thing? His user name has David in it.
They are so dense, I'm surprised they knew how to turn a PS3 on.

Same with websites, one guy had a massive go at me because I wouldn't "cyber" with him, another one said he fucking hated me and he was going to kill me because he fancied me and I had a boyfriend.

I can hold my ground though. God help them if they met me in real life.

One thing that I am constantly getting annoyed with is when I am playing some multiplayer (usually Modern Warfare 2) and hearing guys talk bullshit to girls. "Hey baby what size are ya t**s??".

My stepsister recently had to spend out the 800 Microsoft points so she can change her name from Beth xD because she was receiving 10+ friend requests and masses of messages a week on her LIVE account. It really annoys me how sad and pathetic some gamers can resort to being and this really ticked me off.

Would like to know how you girls feel about this issue or any guys concerning it =)
I myself would never say anything like that to a woman in real life, so I wouldn't say it to a woman in a game. I would however most likely friend request her just for the chance to play with or against someone of the opposite gender.
I haven't played an online videogame with a woman in about 8 years (and I know they exist, I just haven't been lucky enough to find any).
With this, i think, we have something like a vicious circle.
You see, there is this girl trying to game some online. So she logs on and plays a bit. And it doesn't take long till Mr. Douche McAsshat comes along and annoys her a lot with with all kinds of uncalled for sexist BS. She's irritated but soon forgets about it. But this girl is unlucky (or maybe rubs those guys the right way with her natural attitude which is not necessarily on purpose) and gets something like that every other day she wants to game online.
Now at some point she's so pissed that she either quits alltogether or she will become bitchy, yelling at and insulting random guys who just happen to try to be friendly or funny.
While i don't think this is good or right in any way i am inclined that it's the case a lot of times.

Im a asshole,I know.
Ladies and gentlemen, here is a fine example of what we are talking about. Notice the lack of spelling, spacing, coherence and throwing of insults.
Quite plainly they have a problem in finding a partner so turn it on on themselves and insult others.
We can learn from it *bows*

For the record, the majority of us are not "ugly and fat or socially awkward." We're sexy ;)

Ok. First off. Spell check is your friend.

And second, say whatever you want. It's clear you're trying to get a rise out of people. Probably for the "lulz". Repeatedly acting like this will likely only earn you the wrath of the mods, and thus you shall be struck down with the Banhammer.

On the other hand, you could be a genuinely nice guy and decided to suddenly voice a rather strong, if incorrect, opinion.

Also, it's rather amusing that annoyance seems akin to "crying" in your eyes. If that is indeed the case, I recommend a pair of glasses.

I am a strategy gamer mostly,so the few times I run across females playing I generally leave them to play the game in peace. But it is funny to just observe a match and watch a guy lose horribly because he underestimated a female gamer or was too busy trying to hit on her.

But then again, I have avoided xbox live like the plague and the playstation network as well, on the general principle (normal guy) + (anonymity) = Total Prick

Personally I don't see why some guys get in a big huff over women online

Sure it is a smaller sect of gaming and rare to see (1:10 women to men ratio I think I heard it was last)
Sure they have breasts
They even sound different 8U

But here's the shocker: they're online, chances are you'll never see/meet them, EVER.
But men still try

That or when men get mad when a woman shows superior skill to them in a game and grief them for it (Like my friend who can find my a-- with bonesaw regardless where I hide as a Spy on Tf2)that I find amusing

-Shrug-
(Mind if I sound a bit offensive)
Edit: I'm a guy fyi

Wow, I never realised the problem was this bad, having said that, I haven't entered game chat on xbl since about early 2008, maybe it's gotten worse. It saddens me that people can be that mean. But playing on WoW has tought me that generally, girls are actually better than guys at gaming, or at least thats what i've found. I think there was a study done that said 40% of WoW players were female, would'nt suprise me.

Well then, that's one way to describe me then.

But to be honest, I'm a guy, and I get irritated by chauvinistic bastards on the Internet. I flipped at some tard on RuneScape after he kept making remarks, and he turned around and said 'Fuck off you fuckin ******', just with worse spelling and more stars where the swear words are.

There's a girl in the group I play MW2 with. As soon as anyone hears her talk, they start catcalling or talking more trash than normal. Then, the match starts, and she whoops them. I love how silent the lobby is after that.

I find it lame to hit on a girl or talk trash to her on a game. Then again, I never talk trash to anyone anyway(I let my bullets do the talking).

That said, I certainly wont take it easy on them. My gun doesn't discriminate. I find it best to treat them as I would any other person I encounter online.

However, I do see plenty of them with names that scream "I'm female". Names like "YOUgotPWNEDbyaGIRL." Then, sometimes they have to say things like "You got killed by a girl." in a lobby. So, to the few that do this(be honest); Why? If you don't want to be bothered because of your gender, why do some of you feel the need to bring it up?

Yes, Jesus fuck they can get irritating. Thankfully, they don't tend to be too bad on WoW. I guess that's because everyone assumes everyone else is a fat hairy guy in his mom's basement, so nobody hits on anybody.
one of my best friends (girl) met a guy on WoW, he relocated to live with her from about 3 states away, and now they are married. I don't know what she sees in him at all.

It does happen.

I've never come across anyone like that. Mostly because, currently, I only play L4D2 online and I haven't encountered any other girls, yet the guys I've met have been rather friendly and don't act like the complete asshats I encountered on WoW before I quit that game.

Anyway, the only time I've ever brought up my gender is when I was using a mic and someone told me that I "sounded really young". Other than that, I couldn't care less if people know what my gender is. I don't want any special attention just because I have an X chromosome instead of a Y chromosome.

I'm a bloke and it ticks me right off. If I'm playing a game I want to play the game, not listen to some 12 year olds chat someone up

No reason for the quote but that was a good book series wasn't it? No one I know's read it the fools.

By chauvinistic remarks, I'm guessing you mean when a couple of douches talk about who's the douchiest douche among them by talking about women as if they weren't people? I want to run them through with a sword up the a$$. Seriously, it makes me worry that I don't place human life in high regard...

...then I remember that douches aren't people. ^_^
