My brother has it, but I do not. It represents itself in different ways though. My brother is generally very introverted in situations with a lot of people. However, I have heard that it can be quite the opposite, with people acting over the top around large crowds.

No, Dyslexia is a learning disability that impairs a person's ability to read.

Asperger/Aspergers/Asperger's Syndrome/Disorder, is regarded as an Autism spectrum disorder.
Research has only speculated a causation which supports the likelihood that it is passed on genetically.
There is some thought that says it can develop if sickness occurs at a young age, like for instance a high fever. My brother has it, and he did indeed have a fever of 104 when he was about 4 or so due to dehydration. Interestingly enough, that's when his hair and eyes changed from blonde and green to brown.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post. It was not intended.

No, I don't think so. While I am not the most social type, or very emotional, i think those things are more character traits than anything else.

Judging by a lot of the symptoms and how they say it varies differently with each person, I feel like this might be the next ADD sort of disease where people notice one or two of the syptoms and self diagnose that there has to be something wrong. Not to say that this isn't a real disease but it would be pretty easy to convince yourself that you have something like it.

I know a few people who have said that they have it- but I think they're just self-diagnosing themselves with their depression. To make them feel like its a condition.

Have it, M, diagnosed at 13.

I know this has been covered above, but Asperger's is nothing like dyslexia aside from being neurological. Asperger's doesn't impair reading ability at all (I was reading earlier than most children, actually - I just couldn't write very well until the seventh grade or so).

Fbuh - my hair changed from blonde to brown near that age as well. I've no idea how common this is, but it could be interesting.

It's pretty common, it's where the expression "baby blue-eyes" comes from. As you have time to mature, you create more pigment in line with your genetic maximum. I was born blue eyed and with medium brown hair, now I have blue-green eyes and dark brown hair.

I might have a couple Aspie traits, but I don't have Aspergers Syndrome because if it is given from father to son my father would have been a social loner with few friends just like myself, but as this is totally untrue and my dad was a pretty popular dude, I can't have it. I'm just being an ass-hole by correcting people and pointing out facts and bringing up opinions people don't want to hear. As Curt Goetz, a German Author and Actor said:"If by reaching a certain age one does not noticed that he is surrounded by idiots, doesn't notice this for a specific reason." So I'm just that annoying intellectual douchebag which is simultaneously not a pussy so you can't just go beat him up for being that douchebag. I mean even if there were high-school football players in Germany and they wanted to beat me up, I would pounce on their honor, get them to met me in private for a fair fight, get myself a good blackjack from my friend for like 15? and just beat them up with it. Or just call my fellow compatriots and get them football players beaten up by 30 Russians.

I'm sincerely sorry for bad grammar and spelling, I was high the last two days(getting high is legal in Germany, owning drugs is not) and sat through all night on energy-drinks and coffee. My mind is not particularly in good shape.

I don't have it, but I do have Poor Student Syndrome!

[small][sub]PSS is a major concern for young men and women everywhere around the world. The symptoms of lack of money and ability to progress in one's field are serious. PSS is brought on by unsympathetic or non-existent parental support and poor economic conditions.

If you suspect you suffer from PSS, contact your local political figure today to complain about it![/sub][/small]

In all seriousness though, I don't have it and I hope that the quality of your life doesn't suffer because of it.

For me it is a possible. But I don't approve of or accept self-diagnosis on the subject of most illnesses.

My consultant psychiatrist (who I threatened to hit with his keyboard to see how many keys flew off and who made me so angry that i ground my teeth so hard that I broke one) told me that there was no point in attempting to diagnose it in someone my age (36) as there is no form of adult support system available to help me in the area and all that it would do would stigmatise me by having it recorded in my medical records which might mean a forced disclosure in the future.

He didn't answer who might force a disclosure given that my medical records are confidential and did not accept my argument that if a person knows that something is wrong, having a name for it might actually be quite comforting.

We don't get along - he prescribes for me but someone else has to take notes and mediate. If that isn't crazy then I don't know what is...

Aspergers is so often self diagnosed you can't trust anyone who says it.
Ha, yeah, that. I've certainly felt like I have Aspergers, but... I probably don't. I'm just a screwed up individual like just about everyone else.

I don't have it, also sometimes I think I am the only person without a mental problem or some sort of other weird medical thing.
