I used to have one. I never updated it or used it for anything other than looking at photos of my college friends so I removed it again.

I HATE facebook but I kinda need it... I have a lot of bad memories with exes and I want to get rid of it but its pretty much the only way i keep in touch with my sister and all the people i've worked with. its kind of annoying but its not THAT much of a drag.

I use it as a way to keep in touch with far-flung relatives...well...that's what it could be used for: At best my distant cousins know that somewhere in MD they have a foul-mouthed nerd of a cousin.

I don't see an option for "other"! What do I pick?

I used to have Facebook, but then I remembered that I was slightly paranoid, so I deleted it. Besides, most of those people were people I barely knew in high school. I doubt I will be missed.

I have one and aside from messing around with it for the first week or so I don't personally use it.

I do however, check it regularly as a means of getting updates on whats going on with people I know. A daily checking that eats up all of 10 seconds but supports the site all the same.

I lack a reason to get a Facebook account. Same with Twitter, MySpace, yadda. If I want to send a friend a message I use email, if I want to have a chat with them by electronic means I use qip (IM) and for news I use RSS.

Also, you should put up an option for those that very rarely use it, abandoned it or only made one because their friends pushed them. I know a couple of those people.

I used to have a Facebook profile. I signed up in University because some people were organising a Course Christmas dinner and they were doing it on Facebook rather than the normal way of just talking (because we saw each other almost every day); though this is coming from the person who's planning a trip to London next month via The Escapist.

I never used it, and had no real urge to do so. I got friend requests and messages from people I barely knew years ago, and I deleted my account when all that hubbub about 3rd party developers selling personal information started.

Considering the MASSIVE amount of trouble that some of my other friends and family members get into because someone posted something in their status, or de-friended someone, or changed their religious status to Pastafarian, or whatever I'm glad I left that crap alone.

I do. I mainly use it to practice German and keep in touch with friends overseas and interstate as well as my family in New Zealand.

No, I have a life instead.
Having Facebook and having a life isn't mutually exclusive.

OT: I don't have it. I just use Steam to talk to friends.

It's an easy way to keep in touch with friends. After High School, I've got friends going to colleges hours' drives away...many went to schools in different states. Also, when bored I can entertain myself by adding as much as I can to those "favorite" lists on the profile.

Nah.

Don't have anything against it. Just never saw the appeal.

My main use for it is organising stuff and sharing links with the people I live with. We all have classes at different times, so it's much more convenient to be able to create an event and discuss on a built-in forum. With link-sharing, it means that at dinner time we've all read the same thing so can talk about it.

For me Facebook augments my social life IRL rather than replacing it.

Of course, I'd be lying if I said I didn't partake of a little stalking now and then...
