Words still have meaning. That was the point of words. To mean things. Words can bring up harmful and traumatizing memories that make people sad, and will react with anger. You're desensitized, so your opinion remains flat. I don't ask a blind man if I look good, now do I?

And besides, a "reality check" is not the same as "check into mental hospital". I share your ideal that words should not hurt, but your beliefs are much too extreme in my opinion. We shall agree to disagree.

Social commentary is their game and I think they do a very good job of showing people when they're completely retarded. I particularly liked in the "About Last Night" episode when all the Obama people shouted "CHANGE!!" like it was their goddamned job and the McCain supporters were really scared that life as they knew it was gonna end.

Pricelessly accurate considering the nature of the show.

I was exaggerating on the whole "put them in the looney bin" bit. I had thought that much obvious, as it is neither a rational nor reasonable solution to the problem.

What I was trying to convey was that people need to take a step or two back, and realize they're just poking fun at things. Re-evaluate their priorities as it were.

Words have no more power than what you attribute to them. Stop caring when someone insults you, especially if it's a generic insult that lacks any real malicious intent.
I think it's about time somebody said this.
I couldn't agree more.

I was not amused with the way they portrayed Al Gore. Al Gore is a great man who has brought global attention to catastrophic global warming, and those 1/10 wits had the audacity to make him out to be an attention seeking child who runs around with a cape. Funny, but not amusing. -> (I don't want the exact perfect use of words police on me, so if you are a member, I don't care about what you think)
They are amusing people who large numbers of people watch, yet they devout their energy to getting completely off topic when it comes to global warming. No one will give a shit about "smug" in 100 years, especially in the developing world, which will not be able to develop because all their glaciers melted thanks to people wasting electricity watching their shitty television show. They are offensive in bad ways. They're just American rednecks with slightly above average intellect, for the most part. It has been shown that there is no relation between intelligence and humour, none at all, keep that in mind when you watch it. They didn't have a very bad thing on global warming with the lice episode, but with all the insults they level at a couple celebrities, they should have the balls to also level insults at everyone. Absolutely everyone who uses energy, which releases greenhosue gases. But that wouldn't be "cool."
...are you super cereal?
But yeah, I sort of agree. Though they're a bit better than what you just described them as.
They may act as a medium for the most base and immature humor, but it's funny, and if you dig past all the crap you just mentioned, there is some truth and morality in their message.
I think they're really just mocking the sense people get when the buy a hybrid, "I'm saving the environment,
I'm better than you."
Which is bullcrap.
It is bullcrap, the part where you are saving the environment. You're still emittting when you drive a hybrid, and the car needed to be put together with lots of heat, you aren't great at all. If you ran and took the bus everywhere, you would have something to brag about. Also, most pollution comes from inside the house, not outside. That Kyle character was just as dumb as the rest of them when he said that Hybrids might "save the earth." There's no plan to actually cool down the world, if everyone drove hybrids, it would barely make a shit of difference.
True. Hybrids suck (mostly. The Escalade one looks cool, though not really Eco-Friendly.), and Priuses look like eggs.
The thing is, South Park is a COMEDY show, although they do put a lot of opinionated stuff in there, and the real message comes through clear (being a snob 'cause you bought a Prius or turn the lights off when you leave the room is retarded) , it's for Entertainment.
It's funny.

I know some bits people get offended by like the naked little boys on a leash held by the Priests and the Steve Irwin jokes but I find it hilarious. Every single episode besides all the latest episodes are brilliant, not one I can think of that isn't great.
You didn't like The Ring?
waahh. That one was epic.
Though the others all rocked too.
And that stuff is offensive, but it's TV. If you don't like it, you turn it off.
EDIT: And watch Barney.

I love this show way too much. Also, as a special treat for all the South Park fans, here ya go.

That episode is really funny, though the idea for the song is stolen from The Lonely Island's song: On a Boat, but its still funny.

Do you have any idea how often I get someone who quotes me but doesn't read my post properly? I haven't watched many of the new episodes, I just watched the Jonas Brother episode and I found to be average.

Everything can be joked with. Sure, there are limits when stuff stops being funny, but as long as I don't let stuff offend me, I won't be offended. If that makes sense.

..I....Did read what you wrote...
You wrote you didn't find the new ones to be brilliant, which implied that you had watched them.
Am I not allowed to quote your post or reply to what you write?

In the song credits, it never mentions Kanye. Besides, would Kanye West, the genius voice of a generation and the 2nd coming of christ call himself a gay fish?
