the people on wellfare (minus a fue) do not deserve goverment handouts. If the program continues, require work like the orignal program did. Wellfare was orignaly a work for the goverment program. if you don't work you don't deserve money. pay for the kids to get into foster care instead.

Sorry, but how does that help at all? You're increasing poverty levels, which means that a lot of kids born to poor parents are going to have to either a.) get shipped off to foster care, which takes a LOT of time and effort, or b.) have an even shittier life. Plus you're simultaneously fucking up the economy, likely nudging the crime rate up, and making it even more difficult to close the widening gap between upper and lower classes.

Think before you... Well, just plain think. Maybe you should quit video games altogether and do some reading.
Just make sure its not something like Catcher in the Rye...

Colton Carmahihalis, What you don't seem to realize is that what is a minor inconvenience to you (having to grab your mum to grab a game) is a saving grace to many parents. Most parents don't really differentiate between games and would never know that their 11 year old son is playing GTA4 but for the fact that they had to be there to purchase it and receive the standard M-game warning. However I think the M-game limit of 18 and up is sleightly unrealistic I would find it acceptable to sell a game to 16 year old. But some parents like to shelter their kids so i dont know if many Jack Thompson-ite's would like that idea.

at sub question: what everyone else said christian society, weird morale scales blahity blah blah.
Are you saying that the ESRB is saving chil

What you fail to understand is how pretentious it is of a society to declare responsibility for it's citizens because of a biased sample.

Actually every major economic study conducted following the great depression has unanimously declared that a reduction in welfare results in reduced unemployment. Market incentives YEAHHHH!!!!
Weird - I salute your wisdom. And better yet: reduce welfare, increase public works projects. HOOVER DAM YEAHHHH!!!! AUTOBAHN YEAHHHH!!!! usw.

And not because parents are lazy or stupid or something, but strangely enough they've got a hell of a lot to worry about. Like keeping their job and paying bills so that their child will have a proper home to live in.

OMFG I just want to said that this thread has gone into politics and discussing politics with a 16 year old is freaking ridiculous ( yes I am one that's why I'm pointing this out. )

What's pretentious is for absentee parents to pass responsibility off to everyone but themselves. Hate the disease not the symptoms of infection.

i have opinions, even if i am 16. I pay taxes on stuff just like the rest of you, i deserve comment. And the fact that i am able to continue on in this conversation is a counterexample to that arguement

Oh, wow.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wow.

Alright, let's play it your way. Why should you be entitled to buy M-rated games? The store would gladly sell them to you to turn a profit, and to everyone else, but that angers parents and causes them to take their business elsewhere. So, it is in the store's best interest to regulate who can buy what so that adults - who plop down thousands for TVs, stereo equipment, etc. - will be more willing to shop there for their family.

...really now. Maybe this is just because I live in Canada, but there's this thing called deductions - it's a term for, once you're 18, the government rips your income off something like 20% instead of about 5% on taxes.
