Sometimes we just need to get away from the games that call themselves serious.
Sometimes you just need some dumb fun, and DNF is here for it.

Ok, I actually disagree with quite a lot of that. lolRyan Griffiths said:...most of the people who play this game will probably be 16 year old teens, who shouldn't be playing anyway.
These games demonstrate that you can have movie quality like content within a game and take it further, make it unique and it'll last a lot longer than a film.
I know theres a market for it, but how many law suits do you think are going to come out of this game "having a laugh" is going to cause? Everyone with their brand stamped on this are walking a tight rope about this - if its as bad as it could be, then bankruptcy is not a far fetched idea.
But sometimes, offensive, crass and downright stupid games are just what the doctor ordered.Pedro The Hutt said:You can be fun without being offensive, crass or downright stupid. =p Ask Katamari Damacy, or Portal.Super Toast said:Not every game has to be a work of art. Some games just have to be fun. And on that front, The Duke most certainly delivers.Ryan Griffiths said:snip
But it's really not (seen as childish and full of losers and dumb frat boys). The simple fact is that number of people who have never played a video game is getting smaller and smaller everyday. It's not just for "losers sitting in their parent's basement playing some nerdy thing". Hell Hollywood blamed Halo 3 for their piss poor Box Office in the Month of October. As flawed as that logic was, nobody was sitting there saying, "Wow, I never realized there were so many nerds in the world." Go up to any random person on the street and tell them you play Call of Duty. Or say Portal, or Final Fantasy, or just list off any video game. If they don't know what you're talking about just tell them it's a Video Game. They won't back off from you like you have the plague or anything, they won't really care. Gaming isn't a niche hobby anymore, and more and more people are realizing that.Pedro The Hutt said:The difference is that films, books and music are commonly accepted as valid artforms. In the eyes of the masses, video games are still pubescent macho manboy things that only frat boys could enjoy, DNF gladly helps along in cementing that stereotype.
And frankly, you could have a fun straightforward arcade shooter ~without~ all the stuff that makes DNF as offensive as it is.
So, your main problem is that they made a game that is supposed to be fun (you know, that thing that games are supposed to be) instead of being an interactive book/movie? Heavy Rain was pretty much a movie with QTE's, and Mass Effect (actually, all BioWare games) are so damn slow and boring. I'd rather have games that were fun then games where I run around for hours just talking to people and then when I finally get to a combat section, all I do is click on the enemy and wait for them to die, then click the next.Ryan Griffiths said:My biggest problem with this game is that it undoes everything that the games industry, those hard working individuals and teams behind some truly amazing work. Games like the Uncharted series, Heavy Rain (I know not fantastic gameplay, but stay with me here) and Mass Effect.
