Well stop being annoyed. I don't see how it could annoy you unless you hate seeing someone else voice a different opinion than yours. Seriously, that would be the only reasonable answer. I'll agree that the story in the games is pretty much always the same and I think we can all see that the shows, cards, and other random merchandise will never be as good as the first years worth. But each of the games has gotten better. All the annoying quirks of the old games have been tweaked to make playing more streamlined. The games are still fun, the graphics are getting really sweet, and some of the new pokemon are still interesting. Give the games a chance. Have you played Diamond and Pearl? They really are great.

If you look at the games, though, they've gotten steadily more deep and involving as they've gone, and far more aesthetically pleasing, regardless of whether you like the Pokemon sprites or not. At the end of the day, the problem is that when Red & Blue came out, most Pokemon fans were young. We found the first 150 cute and interesting and colourful. As time goes on the designs haven't gotten 'worse' as such - a bit different, sure, but arguably more inspired also - we've just gotten older. The pokemon are every bit as varied and interesting and the gameplay itself has progressed in the right direction. If it would only move a bit faster, there wouldn't be a problem at all.
Edit: Also, question... why is nostalgia the only blindfold to the 'more choice and variety is better' foundation rule of gaming?
I think you need a pro tip on running a business. When you have a property that makes money, use it till no one buys it. That is the cornerstone of consumerism. If Nintendo stop making Pokemon games before they stop selling they are idiots. In fact, if they make a Pokemon game that is a flop, they should reboot the franchise, change it up, and only if that doesn't sell should they kill the IP.Wintermute_ said:

And the entire draw of pokemon is the pokemon? By that logic, the first generation is the worst generation by a longshot. Have you ever seen Charizard on Pokemon red? He looks like a donkey. Pikachu's fat, Exeggutor's portions are all jumbled together, Jynx is ... you know, and Mewtwo looks like a slanking naked cat.
I've seen the fifth generation of pokemon. I've played it, and it's fantastic. I have no idea what you're talking about. The pokemon are ridiculous? Yeah, there's a rooster who wears pants. He may be ridiculous to some, but when he saves your ass with a critical pursuit on that damn Gothiselle, you won't be thinking "man, this thing looks pretty silly", you're thinking "YEAH, PANTS ROOSTER! You look back on the originals of pokemon with the rose colored glasses of a long forgotten youth. You've embittered yourself against the future, denying what progress has been made, and crying out for an end to it all.
Well, I for one, disagree. Pokemon is still running strong with hundreds upon millions of fans around the globe who enjoy.
OK I shall TRY to be relatively unbiased when I say this (although, admittedly I do think they should finish it).
Nintendo has not really bought anything new to the series that dramatically adds and changes the gameplay/storyline etc. for the better in a long time. It really is the same thing over and over again, and it seems like some of their 'good' ideas are just removed and changed for something else every series. (berries? poffins? seriously just stick with one name and keep it...it changes every game I swear)
Also on another note, their latest innovation - Triple Battles. What. The. Fuck. Honestly I can imagine the workers at Nintendo...

Ok sarcasm aside, that is ridiculous. Moves like Earthquake will be very powerful and I don't see it adding any more depth to the fighting. :/ What I would like to see from Pokemon is something that dynamically changes the game (move to 3D perhaps?) and does so in a way that improves the series. I think a pokemon RPG or MMO would be right area to expand. Pokemon is pretty much a grindfest anyway, so an MMO would be just up its alley.
Also, I would like to see a darker, more mature version of pokemon with a solid storyline and issues such as death, poverty, corruption of power etc. Although I know it is near impossible, but honestly if done right it would be amazing. I really think Pokemon could work in a dark atmosphere.

First gen: Introduced the concept, glitches out the wahzoo, and 150 Pokemon, only a fraction of which were worth using.
Second gen: Apologized for several mistakes in the first gen by fixing them, adding Dark and Steel types, and trying to do something to stop psychics from being overpowered. A good generation.
Third gen: By no means bad, introduced Treecko and Blaziken, as well as some other new mon and moves. Good, but not excellent
Forth gen: HERE we go. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were the best games for a new generation, and in my mind the physical/special split was THE best thing to happen to Pokemon.
Fifth gen: New world, new Pokemon, interesting looking new characters. Amoung the new pokemon are a polar bear, a sea turtle, a flower deer, a dragon with an axe for a face, and the elimination of several sucky HMs like Defog.
So, if you don't like it, don't buy it. Sit on your porches in your rocking chairs and curse about how Pokemon hasn't been good since Gold and Silver, about how Pokemon suck now. Move on, get over it, nobody cares.

Acctualy team plasma in Ishuu is good, they want to stop people catching Pokemon for use in battle, but this is something most Pokemon don't want, so you have to stop them from stopping trainers from catching Pokemon...if that makes sense...Drentics said:

Elimination of HMS - I suppose that is a good addition, but they should be taking a more proactive step in adding more useful HMS instead of cleaning up crappy HMS from older games.
They need to do something different and change up the game, Its like they really don't care that it is totally the same game if It make money. At least with Zelda and Mario they do change it (sometimes).
