Source was tempting but it had to be Timesplitters.

Brilliant series with many, many, many of my hours poured into it. Used to love the 4 player mayhem with 3 mates, takeaway, a few beers. That was a weekend.

Shock = System Shock, Bio Shock , Borderlands (I count it as it has basically the same layout as bioshock).
By that logic, Deus Ex should be grouped into there.
Its wierd logic, its the FPS of the decade of 00-09, System Shock 1+2 came out in the 90's, borderlands is nothing like them...

So by that logic Pink Floyd's Brick in the Wall is the greatest FPS of 00-09 that came out before that time period.

My vote goes to Half Life 2 and Far Cry 2, no other game has made me frantic to save a "Friend".

Got to go with the only game I've been playing continuously for YEARS. TF2.
I second that. Every other FPS I have tried... COD, Halo, Bioshock, Half-Life etc. I have liked for a while, and usually played incessantly for a week or so. But after all these years I STILL come back to TF2 after it all. This game may very well be timeless.

It might not be an FPS in the sense that everyone is used to, but my vote is L4D, was brilliant, fun, and a great greifing engine. Not to mention a breath of fresh air in a world that is content to re-release the same old FPS formula with twinkly-shinny things on it.

If I had to pick a runner up, def TF2, despite the spy being a fucking prick in the hands of leet people, it's still (as the gent above me said) practically timeless.

Counter-Strike.

Still the king of FPS's, and one of the most played games on Steam.

I do like HalfLife and Portal alot, but I'll admit that Halo has had an amazing following, and Call of Duty with it's phenomenal success... since this is about personal favourites, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R isn't on the list, I'll stay with Gordon Freeman and Valve.

The correct answer is Serious Sam.

Everyone who has said otherwise is wrong :p
