FPS/RTS = Made for PCs.

But I have played CoD 4 on a PS3 with my friends using controllers, and well, it was fun, but awkward.

Personally I think that nothing really beats the combo with keyboard and mouse.
But it can be done good on console, like Fallout 3.

I like both actually.

I remember when I first played Quake with mouse keyboard setup back in the day and I sucked hard.

Same can be said when I played Goldeneye.

Point is, its what you get used to, mouse keyboard is more accurate yea but when everyone is using the console controller its a level playing field, no big deal. I feel I should say that I love the 360 controller it fits my hands perfectly.

It's also interesting, I never knew there was auto aim on consoles before a few months ago, I was shocked to find that out. I can't recall a single time I have ever "snapped-to" an enemy. Every time I play FPS's like MW2 I aim at the target and shoot.
MW2 singleplayer I have definitely noticed the auto-aim, hell it's in part of the tutorial. Can't say its too obvious in the MP though, Ill have to check that one out, maybe you can turn it off?

I'm a PC guy through and through. I have no major problems with consoles for any genre and do enjoy FPSs on a mate's 360 quite regulary for the local MP. The things that make me prefer the PC's mouse and keyboard input are aiming in general but specifically twitch aiming and turning speed. I am sure that the different controller inputs (and advantages of one over the other) are a reason why neither IW or Valve decided to attempt to combine their Xbox and PC audiences online.

Consoles. I have no idea why, but even though I was raised on computer games, I'm absolutely fucking terrible with mouse-and-keyboard FPS setups.

But with a 360 controller, I can headshot someone from a mile away with iron sights, you pick which eye the bullet goes through.

Weird, I know.

I find FPSes on consoles to be an oxymoron. Seriously, guys - even with aim assistance, HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU MANAGE TO AIM WITH THUMBSTICKS?! It has to take idiotic amounts of prescision. This goes doubly for multiplayer. I really, really do not understand how you manage to get decent accuracy.

And i salute you for overcoming ridiculously inconvinient control scheme.
Because in KB+M, you can track your target and shoot at will. With Sticks, I have seen most people (me included) move the reticle past the target and shoot at the right moment. Both are control schemes adequate, but I much prefer KB+M.

It really depends on the type off experience your after.I for one claim games like CoD work better on the consoles, because off the fast-paced nature off the game and its "casual" gameplay. If your just after a fun shooter without caring to much about "skill" and all the other rubbish, then those type of games work better on a console.

Whilst shooters like Battlefield, larger, more open games, undoubtedly work better on a PC where precision aiming and larger teams are needed for the more rewarding experience, simply because PC's can take more players.
Call of duty (especially the first+expansion and second) have very strong PC communities built around them, and are very much catered to PC controles (lean flick shots and such). They have always been very much about e-penis e-sports. I'd actually argue that less competitive games are better suited to console (Halo springs to mind, also anything else that utilizes split screen co-op).

preventing all the annoying problems of PC gaming: uneven hardware response, exploits, cheaters and disruptive players. It's all for the better.
Which idyllic parallel universe do you live in and how can the rest of us get there? Last I checked, cheaters, exploiters and disruptive players are ten-a-gorram-penny on consoles.

Overdone thread is overdone.

On Topic: I used to be such a keyboard and mouse nazi with that genre, but to be honest I mostly use my consoles now. Probably just because all my friends use live.
