By removing that market you're denying people fun, destroying businesses and jobs and preventing funding for many of your beloved games.
Actually, if you remove it using time travel you're not denying anyone anything, since none of the businesses will ever have had any reason to stop making PC shooters; I'm not really sure how you'd do this other than carefully replacing the code of Halo and Goldeneye with a copy of the code for Blacksite and the N64 version of Daikatana, but...

Imagining that there'd be a black, empty void without console shooters is as silly as the 'Nintendo saved videogames' story that totally ignores the European computer industry.

No they would not, because you're controlling the characters on a screen right in front of you and you'll have to do the best you can from that situation.
Yes, precisely. You're controlling a semi-automated body which moves according to simplified controls that don't require you to control everything; there's little real difference between not requiring fine control of the arm joints [look at Trespasser for what happens when they try to make you do that] and not requiring high-precision aim; both are automation of aim, and differ only in degree.

Someone told me once that I played on PC because I needed everything easy and I wasn't up to the challenge of using inaccurate analog sticks to try and aim on a console...

Mouse and keyboard is so much better to me. Fucking around on COD4/WAW on the console with 3 of my mates is a great amount of fun though :3

Dual analog control is okay, and Wii IR is pretty fucking awesome. But the hands down winner is PC.

PC is... simpler.

PC - Move mouse for X distance - crosshair will move for X distance.
Console - Move analog for X inclination for Y time - crosshair will move for f(X)=MATH :)

See? It's simpler.

FPSs on consoles are better.

There, I said it.

I'm no teenager who doesn't know better, either. I was there to play Wolfenstein 3D. I was there to play Doom and Quake. I thought Hexxen was a better game, and nobody would listen. I know my PC FPSs.

But they're better on consoles.

Look, FPSs on PCs are all about twitch aiming. They are reliant on framerate stability, resolution on the screen and the mouse, response speed... they are all about moving your mouse cursor over something really fast. A glorified flash game.

Now, on the consoles you have a level playing field. Autoaim means fine tuning for headshots is less relevant and it brings out tactics, positioning and teamplay to the surface.

I realized all of this by playing Team Fortress 2. Being the PC loyalist, I bought the PC version of The Orange Box, but a friend had the console version and we wanted to play together, so I found a cheap console copy. It was so much better. The PC was full of subpar user created maps on every server, which were either really boring or borderline unplayable. When you set a turret on the consoles, it actually became a tactical problem. On the PC version, and veterans will know this, soldiers and heavies are capable of mowing down turrets in seconds by popping in an out of cover faster than the AI can react, making the whole mechanic moot.

Until recently, console FPSs had subpar graphics and terrible controls. Whoever says Goldeneye was ever fun is either missing the point or drunk on nostalgia... but not anymore. Since HD graphics and dual analogs became the norm, the genre is much, much better on consoles, preventing all the annoying problems of PC gaming: uneven hardware response, exploits, cheaters and disruptive players. It's all for the better.
This.

After going from Mw1 on PC to MW2 on xbox, I have a hell of alot more fun playing on the xbox. It takes a while to get used to the analogue aiming and all, but once you do, you can find the game alot more enjoyable due to the fact that there is alot less kills/deaths that feel like the enemy is hacking, if that makes sense.

I prefer the console for fps games. I have a ps3 and a (at the moment) average gaming pc with a razer mouse (with on the fly sensitivity) but I just can't find a happy medium between quickly getting the target and flying way past it.

On the console I seem to get the target and kill it much more quickly and accurately, maybe because I've always had some generation of a ps since I was 5 but I have only had a pc that I could play games on since I was 15 (I am 20 now).

I think it's just logical I am better on a console than pc.

I prefer them on PC but I can handle them on Console. I just always liked the keyboard mouse combo. But I have nothing against Console FPS, but I usually won't play them.

Nah mate, you're not stealing it from them. But you are denying them. Denial of course running along the lines of prevention. Without consoles games wouldn't have as much of a marketplace or consumerbase and so there'd be less investors. Without these investors most big projects wouldn't get off the ground and many multiplatform(PC+Consoles) wouldn't return enough cash to justify sequels.
I'm not that sure about that; the current console generation [well, the two that actually have FPSes worth giving the time of day to] basically amounts to 'standardised PC hardware in a box;' not hugely dissimilar to the standardised hardware of older pre-wintel personal computers like the Amiga and Spectrum, aside from the lack of a keyboard and less graphics-dominated hardware. Standardised PCs might find themselves the middle of the market in the absense of consoles, with outlying custom builds a niche market ; in other words, almost the same as the modern setup.

I'm also not sure the lack of a shift to huge budgets would be a bad thing; a lot of 'big' projects end up as overblown trash run through so many focus groups any hint of personality is ground out of them [see GTA IV and it's mortal fear that the player might find themselves bored, hence the addition of lobotomised social networking minigames].

I want to hurt you.

But PC is first, Wii second, GoldenEye 007 on N64 third, and other consoles fourth.

I do better on TF2 on a console. Maybe I'm just new to the PC version. Or maybe it's because I never use demoman, soldier, or engineer on the PC version.

PC.

If it WERE easier on a console, than most FPS on PC would be played with controllers, and they ain't!

Although the console can do a few FPS, you do notice they either suck, have a cover system, auto-aim, or all of the above.

When you can pixel-perfect snipe someone through the eye with an analogue stick, you let me know.
Done.

Actually, I really shouldn't get into the console / PC debate, since nearly all of my games are for my Xbox, and my Mac computer, despite being awesome, is utter crap for gaming.
