My first Xbox 360 lasted about 2 weeks. It worked a little bit after that but it felt like it was on life support, the slightest movement and it'd throw a fit.

Got another Xbox 2 years later after letting the first collect dust, the new one seems ok ^_^

Yeah, I've had a console die. Here's a tip to you PC builders: NEVER buy OCZ RAM. This is the fourth time I've had to RMA all 4 RAM cards I have, but I have to because they refuse to just let me send them back in and get my money back so I can buy some actual worthwhile RAM, like Corsair or G.SKILL.
/rant :D

Ohhhh, we were talking about non-PC consoles? Never mind, then.

my gamecube's laser died a sand-related death (protip; don't take your console to the beach)

i think my wii has a similar dust-related laser issue. n64 and 360 both run fine still.

Yes, my last 6 Xbox 360s. Excuse me while I got Microsoft's headquarters on fire.
You've gone through 6 of them?, holy shit, either you've got incredibly bad luck or you don't look after your gear
I'm the kind of person who looks after all my games and consoles as though I am their father. I make absolutely sure that every disc is handled with extreme care and try as hard as possible to maintain absolutely perfect condition. In other words, it's the bad luck.

Been through 4 360's since 2005, quit returning them at the new year after I got rid of it and got my first PS3, it's still running like a champ (knocks on wood).

I got an Xbox 360 on launch day, and it only crashed a few months ago. I was foolish enough to let a girl touch it. It instantly red-ringed. I'm not even kidding heh.

My 360 graphic card thing melted (not RROD suprisingly).

I got a new one about 2 weeks later because I just had my birthday so I had enough money to get a basic one.

I salvaged my hard drive as well so I had all my stuff and a spare pad, giving me 3 now.
My 360's currently bricked and that sounds like a plausible explanation for its brickedness - did it display colours weirdly before death and then not display at all afterwards? (Weird colours happened to me while playing through Limbo, destroying the aesthetic and atmosphere).
Luckily it's my birthday a month today, and I'm preparing to get me a 360S as I don't want to rebuy my games collection.

Yeah, my PS3 recently "died". It still works, and I can use it, but I think it's a problem with the video card. I don't use it though because it seems to get worse and worse.

Not a single one.

The earliest is a Sega Megadrive with some freckles of paint from the redecoration of a house over 10 years ago. Then there are two PS1s that still work. One of them is on the way out though; it will only work if tilted forwards at a 45 degree angle. Lastly there is a first generation ps2 that has lasted from release date and is still going strong, though I have had to readjust the laser only recently.

As for handhelds, I have a Gameboy classic that's clinging on to life (It works fine but for some reason it eats save files), a GB Colour that works 100% fine and a DS Lite which is still as good as the day I bought it (and I should bloody well think so as I haven't had it a year yet).

I've never had a single malfunction, crash, or death in all of my consoles. ever. Never had to call the company and get it fixed or replaced, never had any issues, ever. People who do have them either got a defective one, or don't take proper care of their consoles. my original nes still works for fuck sake.

note: have bought pretty much every console available since the NES

Yep, I have only had PC and the longest the only one has burned down was for 9 years straight under heavy meltdown. I had to get some ice cubes to cool it down, but still it worked at 67ºC for two years at 6 hours a day.

Xbox 360. It worked for about 3 months. At that time it died the company who sold it hit some financial problems and went out of business. Sucks.

EDIT: My friends fucking NES still works!
