I honestly think Sony has won. But that's not to say that microsoft will do terribly. Knowing the internet people will still buy the Xbox One for the exclusives.
Sony did win, but if Microsoft came out tomorrow and said no DRM, no online requirement, and we're charging $399 the whining would cease and it would be a nearly even race again.

They've yet to clarify their policy on DRM or address any of the rumours about second-hand sales beyond "We're leaving it up to publishers". They've yet to announce price. There are still plenty of ways Sony could fuck this up.
And what say you now that we have the info to say that there's no DRM, trouble with second hand sales, and its priced only $50 more than the Wii U Deluxe?

I can only speak for myself- and I'm going to be buying a PS4 and a Wii U, all that remains is to see who gets the games I want out first to determine the order. I have no plans to buy an Xbox One, nor do I think I will at any point in, say, the next 3-5 years (if at all).

I'm very, very interested to see how this plays out as something of a social experiment- the Xbox one represents the worst of how console gaming could evolve. Will people see this and buy the competitors, forcing Xbox to rollback its invasive policies or fail? Or will people willingly give up so many of their current consumer rights- and why? I know I'm very interested to see how this one plays out.

Not with the exclusives list side by side it won't. And not with how MS' rep with indie games on XBLA is versus what we saw with Sony and the PSN. It'd still be decently in Sony's favour.

Sony just did to MS what they did to the Sega Saturn years ago with the PSOne.
-$100 cheaper
-Has games
-Has actual 3rd party support
-Isn't hurting retailers

Yep sony won. Nintendo will come in a strong second, handhelds and phones for third, xbone a distant fourth, and all third party devs leaving the xbone within the first year.

Well considering that

1. Kingdom Hearts 3
2. Watch Dogs
3. Kingdom Hearts 3
4. They aren't doing any of the shit Microsoft is pulling
5. Kingdom Hearts 3
6. It's priced at $400
7. Kingdom Hearts 3

I'd say that Sony has this in the bag.

Did I mention Kingdom Hearts 3? I don't think I did.

There's still no news on The Last Guardian though, that would have made the conference absolutely perfect.

Of course, Nintendo still has a chance to steal the show. So while Sony has Microsoft beat, we still have to see what Nintendo has in store.

Well, at the very least Sony gave me a good enough reason to learn to how to make gifs.

Yep, Sony won.
They won so handily, I am somewhat suspcious. My current tinfoil hat theory is that someone at Microsoft sabotaged the Xbone and handed Sony this console generation in return for cash/future position promises. Seriously, how could highly paid CEO's have signed off on the rancid buzzard vomit that is the Xbone?

Greed. Being highly paid just means they see money as their due, not something they should earn.

You know how earlier today I wrote that while Microsoft shot itself in the foot, and then shot itself in the other foot, and then jumped off a cliff (okay, I didn't say that, but that is what they did), that Sony could still mess up? Well I am extremely happy and excited to learn that I was dead wrong! PS4 looks amazing, they are already starting out with games that interest me, their pricing is good, their policies are great, and I don't even care that they are charging for PSN+ and online multiplayer, because it's a much better value than Xbox gold ever was, and you can't really fault them for wanting to make some profit, not after they undercut the Xbone in literally every way imaginable.

I'm still probably not going to get it on launch day, but I know now that I am definitely getting a PS4 at some point. And still definitely never getting an Xbone.

Yeah, I think they win at this point. They could make even harder slam dunks too if they wanted.

they still got Nintendo. Gonna be blunt, them giving us features we damn well ought to expect doesn't really make up for the presser being run-of-the-mill until the FFXV unveiling.

Between that and the one "Yep, they've got it all." poll option (may be a mistake that is fixed by the time I post this, maybe not), makes me wonder where your biased lies.

But no, they haven't "won", nobody has "won". Way I see it, Xbox One is not something I'm going to buy, but that doesn't mean I will buy a PS4. If they both suck, I'll skip both. Nintendo, well, I already have a Wii U, so can't say much there. I do have a PC, too, which I have more games than anything on, so there is always that option. What really "wins" is the games.
More like CAN'Tsoles ;D

But in all seriousness I think one thing alone shows who OBJECTIVELY won the generation. (yes I know what "objectively" means, you'll see what I mean in a second)

Let us review...
Brand new game
Xbox One: $100
Playstation 4: $100
Computer: $50

So before anyone starts yelling "well PS4 is $100 less than XB1"
Let's review the facts

1: PS4 and XB1 both require monthly subscriptions for online multiplayer (+$15/month)
2: Both are selling NEW games for $100 ($100/title)
3: At least one of them REQUIRES an HDTV to be played.

All in all the only way you're really "saving money" with your console purchase is presuming you only buy 6 games throughout the ENTIRE generation. Good luck with that. If you plan to play more than 6 games and you're not dead set on certain exclusives, just buy a PC, it's cheaper, it does more, it's cheaper, it's what you're using to reply to me, it's cheaper, it's constantly evolving rather than remaking, oh and did I mention IT'S CHEAPER?!

(alternatively WiiU is a lovely option if you want to get a console because PC's are too complicated)

I'm rooting for Nintendo. Why does everyone forget about Nintendo when making these polls?
Honestly, they're the only company at this point that still feels like a game company. They are making a console, not some weird always online multi-media platform. That's what I like about them. They have a straightforwardness that the other two lack.

I'm not certain that's really going to be the price of the games. I highly doubt they would up the price of the games $40 like that. The current $60 they are charging seems way more likely. Maybe you're right, but that seems like a place holder to me.

Um... That is a placeholder, Sony already said their games were going to be $60 a while back...

Now I am dissapointed to learn that they are doing monthly subs for online, but frankly I think I can get over it (especially if they do the PSN+ cards in yearly allotments), but where the hell did anyone hear their games will be $100 a peice. That's rediculous and I assume a rumor.

At least with Sony though we can walk into a used game store and buy a game for cheaper.... Bam!

It's a hundred dollars less than the Xbone, doesn't have DRM, and lending/buying used games remains fully intact. They wouldn't have even had to show any games and they still would have won. The games they did show look phenomenal. Plus, they are getting Transistor first (That Game Company's follow-up to Bastion -one of my favourite games ever).

I think it's a bit premature to say at this point. I'll reserve judgment until the things are actually released and we find out how many sheep are willing to fork over their money no matter how much these companies are ready and willing to fuck them over.

To be fair, there was a notice that the retail price had not been released yet, and that was basicly a place holder. That's not to say the game won't be that expensive, but the official prices aren't out now.
