Ahem.... As I was saying, yeah my first impressions are usually based upon their avatar, unless they say something terribly unique.

Nah. I never judge people based on an avatar. I judge them on how they treat others.
Hey! You're that anti-obama guy everyone is talking about! Fame!

YES!

I can't help myself, but whenever I see someone using that image of the stick figure having intercourse with the words "Your mom" I feel it's a safe assumption that they're a scumbag.

I wonder if this means that I am the scumbag for making assumptions.

Hmm.. I wonder how constitutions will be in the future. "It is illegal to discriminate on basis of race, gander, sexuality and their avatar!".

Mostly.. the only thing an avatar tells me is if we have at least one common interest or not. Say for instance if the person in question has a character from a game in their avatar. However, I don't think I've judged someone on basis of their avatar.

I do. Not usually in a particularly harsh way (although sociopathic slogans or very violent images often give me pause for thought - not too many of them on here, though).

If I see one from a game or other fandom I love, I tend to assume I have more in common with that person than with people who use avatars I don't recognise or don't particularly care for (shoutout to the Scary Go Round and Sandman avatars!). But I'm always aware that I might be wrong.

Sometimes to try and see if i'm right just for fun, never seriously though.
I'm sure people have judged me by mine, but, hey, it's the way the world works.
Heh, your avatar, much like Avykins´ too, is the sort that feels odd and a bit disturbing, yet weirdly appealing at the same time. Whenever I see it, I have to stop and just stare at it for awhile. I can´t see what it tells about your person; it´s just too great on its own.

Anyway, I may be a bit biased against certain kinds of avatars, but I try to see them as I would see any real human face (keeping in mind the different contexts). Only, avatars tend to provide more variety, and generally are more interesting.

I do make a mental note. For example, if the avatar is an anime/manga figure, I'll think "oh, one of those". If it's a game related picture, I won't usually bother. Or, if it's a really cool one, I might take a second look. ZP avatars usually mean an inconsiderate shouty person. Dunno why. Overidealistic avatars, mostly the communist ones give me the "facepalping effect".

Honestly I do it all the time. Not really willing to do that but unfortunately I do...

The good thing is the fact that I don't show people what I think about them until I know them a bit (or they annoy me enough).

After all "It's better to shut up and look like a moron than say something and show everyone that you actually are one".

PS. And yes I know my avatar looks silly but its very old (round 6 years I think) and it kinda grew to me.

Avatar as in real life or the little picture on the side?

But, No. Not the picture.

In real life yeah. If they're dresssed as a bum, I assume they are.

I do judge people but I don't let it affect my opinion of them. I let their posts do that. I am not sure if I have been judged or not. Other people will have to tell me that.

I am not, nor have I ever been, emo.

So fuck you.
I don't get "emo" from your avatar. I get longing or homicidal from your avatar. You judge whether I am right.

Because it looks like Harry Potter and the commonly accepted picture representation of Zeus.

Sorta. On another forum there was this guy that was joining the American army and was ranting pro-America bull all the time. He was very anti-muslim for starters. I looked at his avatar and it was a picture of the main character from the 24 series and I thought "yeah, that figures."

I'll admit an avatar does spark off an attraction to a user's posts. When I read their posts it is only then I start to form an opinion on that user.

Though trying to gauge what an outsider may think of my avatar, they'd probably think I was into Madness Combat by Krinkels. (In that case, you'd be right. :D)

No, I can't seem to draw a conclusion from some one's avatar.
When people look at mine, you can only really think, "She likes David Bowie."
People with gifs make me think they're really creative though, like Sky's.
