While working in North America I was impressed by the support and 'family' atmosphere of the sports events I attended. 'Sell-out' games at high schools in the UK are unheard of; some of the pee-wee ice hockey games I've seen were more well-attended than the university BUCS finals over here. I can't say either way which approach is the more 'healthy' but the US approach certainly seems more positive.

It depends. I don't like team games(like football, basketball etc.), but I'm maniac of martial sports(both training and watching) and also huge fan of sailing, but I prefer to sail on my own than watching regattas.

And I really can't understand soccer-mania in my country. Even my friends are obsessed on this sh**. I dunno why, the soccer is so undynamic, even for team sport, and players are such pussies, weeping in any occasion.

Sure, sports are great. Love to get outside and play em, but I spend ZERO time watching sports.
Just can't get into it, the spectacle, and rituals, the "team spirit"... it's just so boring to just watch and trash talk.

Not a big fan, it's a massive distraction from the real shit going on in our world.

I don't really watch many sports bar football or rugby when there's an Irish international on, or golf. I only play golf, and that only for exercise - I dislike ultra-competeteive sports, which is why I quit play football years ago myself....

im not a fan, but i do enjoy seeing interesting/incredible plays that get put up on yahoo. its just not enough to get me to watch a full game.

i just have no interest in watching an average game for several hours where if youre lucky, at least one cool thing will happen. even the Superbowl, or final match of the World Cup, or the Stanley Cup, etc. are just an average game. theres nothing really more extreme about them, its just that its the last one... then the process repeats the next year, and the next one, etc.

and i dont understand why people go to the games. if i were a big sports fan, i would probably prefer to sit at home and watch the games in HD, with replays and commentary. it seems much better than sitting in the hot sun, far away from the action where you cant see anything, and all you get to eat is some of the most unhealthy and disgusting food to ever be served x.x

also, when i was a kid, i was forced to play football. it sucked BALLS. sooooooo boring, and even for peewee it was still competitive. its not fun to play when its taken that seriously. all the kids at my school that are on a team will blame their own fucking teammates every time they lose a game. that shit is ridiculous

Wait, how come so many people have said that they hate sports? There has to be at least 1 sport that you like to watch or play otherwise your a antisocial emo that worships fictional gods of darkness and death.

Big fan of British sports (sans cricket, otherwise I'll watch anything), both watching/betting and playing.

I'm terrible at playing though; what I lack in skill I more than make up for in untempered perseverance!

I consider sport to be like lindt, have too many and they lose their taste. I personally only like rugby and tennis very occasionally.

Meh, Don't really care too much about sports. I still go jogging occasionally though, for the sake of staying somewhat fit.

I do love Badminton though, one of the few sports I actually appreciate.

Completely true.

Like what you're told to like, kids, or you're a bad person.

I'll watch sports, depending on which. I can really get behind Hockey though, so from September to June, everything just takes a back seat.

Love me some sports, I do. Big fan of playing and watching football (proper football, played with a foot and a ball), and I also quite like Rugby and Cricket whenever England are involved. I also love pro wrestling, as you may tell from my avatar, although I'm not sure if you count that as a sport since it's not competitive. Takes a massive amount of athletic ability and skill though, so it deserves a mention.

I love watching sports. Hockey (or "ice hockey" as it is known outside of Canada) is my passion, but I also enjoy a good hand-egg or baseball game. I have never enjoyed watching a footie match though, too slow.
