I spend my days shooting people in games and teabagging them, followed by a munch on a cow. I'm bad ass.

Loooooooooooooooooooool.

Morally superior my arse.

Being a morally superior person, I eat meat.
It would be an insult to the cow if we did not eat it. We must consume it to gain its strength and show that we consider it worthy of being eaten for this reason. [/sarcasm]

But yeah, I also think you're being a dick there.

I don't know if anyone will care to answer this, but a buddy of mine is going to try going vegan this summer and he loves beer but he says that in order to be truly vegan he can't have beer, bread, or anything else with yeast in it. Does anyone have any feelings on that?
Yeast is a fungi, like mushrooms. Tell your buddy not to worry about it, yeast has no connection to animals.

Back on topic: Vegan, here, at least diet-wise. Have been since I was thirteen. As veganism is more than purely a diet I can't honestly claim the title, as I still wear some clothing made of wool, and use second-hand leather (shoes, if anyone cares).

Also: Humans are omnivores. Lions are carnivores. Cows are herbivores. These words apply to the species as a whole, although individuals might have diets far to either "side".

Semi-Vegetarian since a little more than a year. I don't eat meat of any kind (including chicken & fish), I do however eat eggs and diary products, as well as gelatine.

waiter: "how would you like your steak?"

Me: "screaming, if at all possible."

That always gets a little chuckle out of people. Although i object to offering financial support for our current meat industry. Its overly barbaric, and thats a problem for me. So i try to cut back.
Do what I do - buy organic. :)

I used to be a real meat head. But after seeing the kind of crap that goes on in factory farming I swore off meat altogether (animal cruelty is a big issue for me). These days I only eat meat which has been reared organically.

I enjoy my meat, especially steak and ribs, yes ribs covered in barbecue sauce. Sure it's messy but damm is it good.

I don't really eat a lot of vegetables, although I do like potatoes, roast, mashed, baked you name it and I'll eat it.

*raises hand*

I'm a vegetarian.

Have been all my life.

I've never had meat at all except a hamburger and I thought it was terrible.

So that means I've never had your precious bacon you all love so much.

Been a vegetarian for 22 years. I only recently started eating ham and turkey again, previously I stuck with only egg whites and dairy products.

It wasn't, and still isn't, a moral thing. One morning I just didn't like the taste of meat.*shrug*

I'm on the Red Meat Retirement Plan. As in, I don't want to outlive my retirement savings so I'm doing my part to make sure I don't live too far past sixty!

"Happy meat"! Actually there's a huge debate over how "happy" this meat really is.

I love meat! Nothing makes me happier than a perfectly medium-rare to rare steak with bacon and a little blue cheese (Sorry, I like to cook too). But right now I can't afford much more than chicken and Ramen noodles.

Rice and beans are cheaper than meat *nudge nudge*

Anyhow, yeast isn't a sentient being and definitely not meat. He can drink all the beer he likes and eat all the bread he wants.

Haven't had a meat product for close to 6 years now or dairy for 3 - Animal Rights and religious reasons. When I realized I wouldn't milk my dog and kill her as dinner, I kind of lost the last of the ground I had to stand on in the whole omnivore debate.

vegetarians rule it just means that theirs more meat for the rest of us besides being omnivores is my guess at why humans dominated the planet because we have a much wider food source and thus can live almost anywhere plus are teeth are clearly designed for that purpose

Sorry, total carnivore here.

If it walks, swims or flies upon this Earth there's a decent chance I'll be willing to eat it.

Beef, chicken, fish, lamb, 'seafood', etc, it's all good.

Hell if someone said "Here's some rattlesnake I fried up! [http://www.motofoto.cc/RattlesnakeRU_20.jpg]" or "We just slaughtered a horse, want a cut of it?" I'd be willing to try it, if I was in a place where eating insects was common and they had some giant locust or something for me to try, well, if it's cooked into something where I couldn't really see what it was I'd probably still be willing to try it.

The ONE major line I draw is I won't eat major land predators, meaning if someone I know went hunting and bagged a mountain lion I wouldn't be willing to eat it, same with if I was in a place where eating dog or cat is common it's just not something I would do, and so on so forth. I can't really give a really good response as to why I draw a line there but am willing to eat almost anything else, besides dogs/cats for reasons that should be fairly obvious to most westerners.
I'd hazard a guess that your line in the sand when it comes to lions and the like is the risk of cannibalism by proxy :D

That lion could well have eaten a few people, after all.

Personally I never want to have to ask 'Waiter, my steak appears to have a piercing.'

There was an episode of 'Better off Ted' recently where they were trying to grow beef in a petri dish from cow cells.

Imagine how great that could be. Guilt and cruelty free steaks, vegans chowing down on inch thick rare ribeyes :)

They also need to splice spiders and chickens so one bird can fill a bargain bucket.
