Forgive me for this... I need to play the Devil's Advocate here.

Simply because we do not like their traditions nor agree with them does not give us the right nor privilege to dictate what they may and may not do in their own country and with their own religion. Personally... I hate what they do. I see Radical Islam as a threat against the rest of the world, including other Muslims. They plan to take over the rest of the world and unite it under the Koran and the Shiira law... however, we -can't- tell them how to think or how to act in the places that they call their own. We are not the world's police.

Like it or not, we can't tell them not to do it. We have to respect their traditions, even if we deplore them and look down on the act.
^ This.

The only time it is ever acceptable to interfere with another country is when the people request help.
All that said, I will not support any Muslim movements or 'rights' claims in America or Europe. They can do whatever they want in their own countries, but if they think for a second that we will suffer that bullshit here, they've got another thing coming.

Edit: Changed now to not. NOT! I did not mean to say now!

Oh quite. Anyone that tries to pull that shit off anywhere near me had better wear a full-body Kevlar suit at all times if they wish to live longer than a fortnight.

I answered that I don't feel that I should respect their traditions.
Hell I don't really respect anyones traditions, if it doesn't serve a useful purpose and it doesn't make any sense, then fuck it.

There not actually Mulsim traditions. There Arabic tribal traditions. Still horrible, obviously.
This. But everyone is so busy putting it on Islam this, Islam that, to understand that it's not religion that's at the basis of the problem.

1. These people (Elders/Leaders/Pokemon Trainers) don't have any idea how the real world, or civilized world operates
2. Elders and Leaders themselves needed to be educated about how their ways are wrong , and how they should help their followers to become part of the civilized world

Oh well ...

The right to free practice of religion of the people stoning her is interfering with her right to life. Life wins.

In other words, no.

The problem with that is she chose to live in a place where such things are accepted, if not common.

At any point in time, she could have walked away and not been subjected to such draconian beliefs. Granted, it would be extremely difficult and if she were caught she would be killed, but the fact remains that she stayed there. What that means is that no one has the right to interfere. It's their home, and both parties chose to stay there, everyone else needs to keep the fuck out.

Now if any women or victims of this system were to ask for help (by seeking asylum with another country, sending out a plea, or any other way), then someone should go in, fuck up some bad guys and call it a day. No other condition can possibly excuse the behavior.

Theocracies have been discriminating and taking away human rights since as long as they've been around. Though many muslim groups in the middle east particularly are manipulative cults that use the church of islam as a base. Stupid talliban! When will the learn the only true way to freedom is to be lead by manipulative cults that use the church of christ as a base. or for the people who are slow and don't get suddelty
america is a theocracy

Who the hell are you to tell a religion that their ideas on marriage between homosexuals are unacceptable? Marriage is obviously something religious, and if your religion is against you and your partner being married then get a new one. Cultures don't need "updating", people just need to realize if it's not for them than to stay out of other people's business.
If that's the case, then who are we to tell these muslims that their idea of a judicial system is uncceptable?

That's not a religious tradition. Same as not eating meat/sweets today is not a Christian tradition - it's a Polish tradition.

It still shouldn't be allowed.

I think what Islam says about woman is truly barbaric and should stop but the problem is that if you publicly make fun of it they will call a fatauh(not real spelling) on you which means it is every muslims mission to kill you, and don't think it hasn't happened before.

What are we? Still in the Stone Age? It's like these people don't like the modern society, they just want to go back to killing and murdering....Yeah very incredibly nice.

Uh... I don't know if you're insulting me or praising me, so I suppose I'll answer with a straight face.
Lol, sure i was praising you. Your post was very informative. For non-muslims i mean. Good job. I knew i should have put a ":)" somewhere to convey my praising, lol.

I respect ANY tradition that in turn respects human rights.
But honour murders, rape, degradation, torture or anything like that aren't stuff I have any respect for. In those specific cases: Fuck tradition.

i voted no women should not be stoned BUT i would like to point out that almost all societies shun gay marrage or realtionship and in some places homosextuals are treated to a fate worse than death. in places like amrerica the church still has the power to decide what what is right want what is wrong. and im sure there are other exsamples but i cant be bothered getting them because my point is that though aribic tradition allows this ours societies though we dont uses physical violence we do allow a fair bit of emotional abuse to occur.

we are human, we like to abuse each other

and forthe love of god reserch the true values of being muslim, i may only know one but im sure there are more. there is one "christian"(hicks who clame it is god will) cult called the KKK who like to kill black people does that mean all christains(not hicks) are black hating homophobes? no, just like taliban does not speak for all of the muslims in the world

Why the fuck not? It's their fucking traditions. Also, this was in Africa, so of course it's barbaric. Barbaric is the norm for that country. Show me one person who wouldn't beg for mercy when being stoned.

Africa isn't a country.....

On a less stupid note, while I agree that such practices are absolutely barbaric, it's none of my/your/our business. If the victims ask for help, I'd be more than willing to give it, but I will not support interference otherwise. People have the right to do as they please, no matter how distasteful it is, so long as the people it affects acquiesce.
You retard. It was in a country IN Africa. It's sad how people in America think that certain cultures are bad, while the USA is the most invasive and oppressive country in the world. As long as the UN doesn't say anything, no one can do anything to us. Because the UN demilitarized any countries within it. And any country that can really do any harm to has(most of them, anyways) are in the UN
I found this one to be the funniest.

I'm going to go by your avatar and assume that you're of Asian descent. Why then, are you telling (some) American people that they're ignorant for assuming other cultures are bad, when you then continue to insult America as a whole?

Hypocrite troll is hypocritical.

As for your complacency, I can't really argue. I personally don't stop to think about all the "injustices" that occur around the world; there are just too many of them, and taking time to pick through them all is pointless.

These kinds of practices have been around for a long, long time. These tribes have somehow survived, which means that they pass the "Survival of the Fittest" test. Since our societies have changed the way we look at the world, and the whole "equal values" situation, we tend to assume that everyone else should have jumped onto the boat when we did.

It can pretty much be guaranteed that this would not have caused such an uproar if it was a man who was stoned to death.
