I'll take my options from the 'The picture of dorian gray' mentality. Having my physical appearance stay exactly the way it is while a portrait of me rots away in some locked safe I've buried underground. Accumulating all the knowlege and emotion I could want XD. "Everyone you cared for dies away" pfft, you can always meet new people along the way (plenty of fish, as they say).

Mind you, I wouldn't be as much of a doofus as Dorian was. Maybe more like Heinlein's 'Time enough for love'. Some of Heinlein is an interesting read, but I've heard his later work is just dumb.

Cheers :D

Sure would, I'm pretty sure that all those arguments about how boring it would get after a few billion years are right, but hell, I'll take the risk.

I have mixed feelings regarding this question. On the one hand, I would love to live longer, and see humanity's advances, see it become a space-faring race, perhaps... On the other hand, it would probably be a lonely existence, to see all the people you love die one after the other while you remain, always left behind.
I voted "forever", but... maybe that's just not the way things are meant to be.

I wouldn't like to live forever. I'd like to live longer to see what the world would evolve into (Technology, Space Travel, etc.), but not forever. Maybe 200-300 years, I'd love that.

I am unable to see eternal life as a positive thing. I don't want to outlive everyone I know, hell I don't even want to outlive the ones who are older than me. Life is great but the fact that it's going to end someday kind of calms me more than scares me... Not sure how else to explain that.

Yes, and no. One the one hand, I have YEARS to make an easy living for myself, and get to try out all the video games ever to be made.

On the other......my beloved would wither and die and fade away, and from then on, I would be alone.

I'd like living forever. Over time you may lose people, but think of the good you could do in the world. You'd have time to learn and to pass on that knowledge.

For example, for every nuclear physicist that is there now, there is another one spending a decade learning stuff the first already knows. What if you could spend that decade with the first one learning even more, rather than him getting old, retiring, or dying off?

same with doctors, historians, writers, etc.

Virtually any job with enough merit to advance society is set back several years each time the research and theories change hands to a younger person. But it isn't necessary to change hands if just one man would live forever. He wouldn't have to try to explain it to someone, who takes it in the wrong direction or abandons it. He could cure cancer, or aids, or stupidity(well maybe not that, but we can dream, can't we?).

On a less ethical, far less helpful note, you could be around to see all the new technologies that develop, see societies rise and fall, and maybe, if you're really lucky, get to play duke nukem forever, or Dark Cloud 3.

uhg, i'd never want to live forever, my attention span is too short, and your average person too stupid to deal with for THAT long. man, i dont even believe in an afterlife, and i'd still rather die in due time than live forever.

I need more details. Would I remain healthy?, would I stay young?. If not I'd just end up in a coma

It would be interesting to see this poll separated by gender. If i would never age, sure, live forever. I wonder what the differences between guys and girls would be?

Immortality for the win. There's all kinds of stuff I would love to do but can't because of my pathetically short human lifespan.

Who claimed that I wasn't an evil bastard to begin with? >:D

Of course I'd like to live forever. In fact, it would be a great relief since that way I won't have to fret so much about dying as I do now. Life would have so much more meaning if it went on for exactly as long as I want it to. Everything learned would become more valuable, because I know it will lead up to new avenues of exploration where the previously assimilated knowledge will be required of me. I'll never have to live with the fear of dying before any work a begin will be completed. And I'd most likely be able to explore the universe as well with such a long lifespan.

Dying means that everything I do and have done will be ultimately pointless and worthless to me. Why would someone ever want to look forward to such a fate?

You can watch the steady degradation of the human race if you lived forever, up until the point they wipe themselves out.
Damn. I wish I thought of that before voting emo but I think I'll stick with my first choice. *burst into tears and other emo stereotypical things*

I'd never want to go on forever. Screw that. I have enough of a tough time with humanity now, let alone having to see it destroy itself Completely through folly. I find it better just to assume and go on my merry way. It's better to have an ending anyway, otherwise it just gets boring and lame. That goes for most things.
