I wish I could cry I just learned to lock it up and for some reason I can not unlock that emotion.

I wouldn't cry in public. It seems weak and as if your begging for sympathy. If anything happened that I really needed to cry about, I'd make sure I was completely alone first.

For all you people who are suffering over a loss, or something devastating happens to you, here is a sentence that I have remembered that keeps me get through a very rough day.

"Even after the darkest nights, morning always comes."
- Ace Combat 6: AWACS Ghost Eye: Mission 15, The Chandelier; To all things.

It's got me to stop crying over some things that's happened to me. The other day I shed a few tears because I took a line drive like two inches off my heart. I cried two months ago when my dad lost his co-worker, a guy who was a really good friend to me.

I bawl all the time. Especially during real good movies or music. It's healthy.

I also cry like a baby when I do something like slam the door in that space next to my knee cap. Swearing tends to accompany that.

What irritates me the most is when I shed tears and people think I'm crying. Due to an incident over a decade ago, I had my left tear-duct rerouted and tubed up. This leads to my left eye dumping water like crazy when I go out in cold weather or the wind. Then people Think I'm weak. SOEIFJOFJ Weak! Or they ask what's wrong. Then don't believe me when I say I'm fine.

Cry if you have to, thats all i can really say

Yes, i do cry when i need too, i held my tears in for too long for a time and it made me a bastard, but i had no one that was willing to listen to me, so it sucked ass.

Crying is natural response to make yourself feel better, more calm. So is crying weakness? No it actually makes you a stronger more relaxed person, and more clear of rational thought than someone who is overwhelmed by sadness.

If you are feeling constantly overwhelmingly sad to the point where you fell you need to cry all the time over the slightest pains, then I would suggest seeing a doctor about depression.

Anyone saying man the fuck up or that is not OK to cry, needs to be less ignorant to how other people feel and to others situations. Completely repressing emotions is not strong at all.

tl;dr
crying = stronger than manning the fuck up

I feel like that when I cry, but I've only recently regained the ability to express emotions and I've got quite a bit bottled up. So I'm still in the mindset of 'if you cry, you're exposing yourself to the world how broken you really are'.

Depends, crying in front of your friends isn't bad at all, but crying in front of an entire class is. I hate it because when I was little if my mom or brother were beating me and I started to cry they would stop, so now whenever I'm in tense situations where I'm being antagonized in a similar way I break down into tears. I hate it because I can't stop myself (but it still gets the other person to stop) so in that sense I see it as a weakness.

Crying from physical pain is different though, take a deep breath relax and clear your mind after all, it's mind over matter.

Only if you're crying just because, really. But, really, I've cried in front of people, out of both frustration mixed in with a massive heavy dose of stress. Hell, completely burnt out from working on a project that I spent one week on just one page (and I was working on 36 pages altogether), Yeah, I cried for a few minutes, and had to step away from the computer before my head exploded...yahhh.... x.x

There's sissy tears, normal acceptable tears, and Manly Tears.
What about the crying that you get when just one thing goes wrong because you can't take any more disappointment after 18 months of stress and depression and all you have to look forward to is the kick you get out of mentally tearing yourself apart with grief and regret. I think that one needs a cool name too! :D
Only sissies cry over depression, Men either get over it or reason it to death with nihilism.
What about women? Are we subjected to that same reasoning?
You know how in France Elles is feminine plural but Ils is masculine and coed plural? The English language really needs to get their view point on that figured out because I'm getting really tired of these problems. Really. Freaking. Tired.

The brain is a very complex thing and each individual may have a different variation. Crying is a function that is not always triggered for the same reasons from person to person, it is illogical to make a judgement on something that has no standard.

All this to say...no, crying does not make you week. Personally I don't cry often but I do feel the emotions that would make many people cry, I express them differently or sometimes not at all. Variation is the key to a healthy species.

It's okay to cry, nothing wrong with it. I usually end up crying when a good movie has a happy ending...

Heh. Had no idea. What with English being my native language, and my preferred secondary options being a tie between Spanish and Japanese.

So, to clarify (I've been up 24 hours, so let's assume I'm currently stupider than usual) you are proposing we introduce better personal pronouns?

(And yes, I am being facetious. Still didn't help me understand precisely WHAT you're annoyed about.)

Alright,Time for me to drop my badass Internet anonymity for a moment. I was taught,by any figure in my family on the male side, the very same thing. My Uncle,Grandfather,Great Grandfather,Father,Even my Cousin in law,who was about 22 at the time, when I was 9. I learnt from my Grandfather the most,as my dad always worked, its never okay to cry in front of Women, the ones you love, the scum of the world, and children. Crying shows your not to be depended on,and your weak. I've gone with this as one of my morals for most of my life. I also learnt it was more than OK,even liberating,to ponder on your thoughts, and when you reconceliate how your lifes been, how happy,sad,infuriating...And let out all your pains with tears.

In short? Its alright to cry,but never when anyone else will be hurt because your crying. Use a hard shell when needed. Just don't cry in front of others.

no, if you are a man over the age of 18 it is not ok to cry, with the obvious exception of a loved one dieing, or your house burning down, tragic stuff. according to the geneva convention article 7 a man caught crying in public is not allowed alcohol nor can he be told any great jokes ... ladies however get a special cry pass to cry inpublic or alone whenever unless those tears are used minipulatively in which case your cry card is suspended for 3 months, and in 14 states, 13 countries and Canada if you are caught crying in public any woman who sees you is allowed to ***** slap you without penalty
