Poll: If your country was invaded, would you join a resistance?

Assuming that the invaders are, broadly speaking "bad guys"...

..honestly I dont know. Id like the say yes, that id boldly join up with the resistance in order to help prevent being conquered by the "bad guys". All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing etc etc...

But realistically, im not sure that i could manage it. Firstly because, well, im not really a fighting kind of guy. Im wired with the "flight" part of "fight or flight", and thats not something i can just change because i want to.

Secondly, i study history, so i have a reasonably good awareness of just how awful war is. With that in mind, im not sure id want to get involved in what would be a bloody, mentally scarring, probably fatal affair.

Sounds cowardly i know, but thats just how it is for me.

It really does depend. Frankly, I think that in most cases we (America) would probably be better off under the new rule of whoever it is. In other words, as long as they aren't going to be oppressive overlord dicks, its all cool.

Depend who invading but I probably wouldn't join but I will help the resistance out like shelter or hide them when they are being hunted (I'm a good lying). The only time I would join them is when my cover is blow that is if I survive that long enough.

Really, it depends on what country is invading, what they are like (Socialist, capitalist, etc), and if it will really affect my life. If a capitalist country invaded and tried to force their system onto this country, then I'd probably resist. I like the little bit of socialism this country has, it has saved my life, so I owe it.
Oh, and it also depends who is in power in my country at the time of invasion. The invaders could be doing a favour.

I meant more of the way in which it is used in some countries.
I must admit to being rather appalled with how the medical system is in the USA, thanks to capitalism. We have socialism over here, and it saved my life. If we had a medical system like that over here, I would doubtless be dead by now.

Well thats aweful, but Socialism sure as hell ain't the answer. The fact of that matter is that as terrible as it might have been, it isn't anyone elses job to take care of you. It is no one elses duty to help you. Yes it is moral to stop by and help you, and it shows a reflection of ones moral code when they do, but you cant FORCE people to do it. That is exactly what all forms of marxism are, forcing people to do things they do not want to. The medical system in America isn't great, but its better than socialism, and I for one am happy with the way it is. It could be better, yes, perhaps some combination of government run and private corperations working together? But no, not socialism.

No, but I might see if I could join up with the invading force, depending on who they were. Hell, I regularly ask Canadians to consider invading us (and by "us" I mean the USA), because we're too immature at this point to govern ourselves, and we could really use someone to kick our asses and make us do the right thing. So, if someone from a country that's got its shit a little more together wants to invade us, I am all for it. And, even if they're from a country that isn't really all to on top of things, yeah, I honestly just don't give enough of a shit to fight for us unless the invaders are genuinely evil.

if you wanna know something funny, the "war gamees" scenario's, every time it comes up to soldier's on foot, usa invading canada, usa always loses, they actually lose territory XD
but full force? realistically, we'd get steamrolled

I'd love to see a source on that. The US would wipe the floor with Canada.
