I was meh. SO much talking, which made me lose interest. The action scenes were really good though.
And that is the problem these days. People mostly wanna see action scenes instead of suspense building.
I second this. The GodFather wasnt great because of heartpounding action scenes...it was great because of the perfect dialouge it had...and yet it is considered one of the greatest achievements in drama and cinematography ever...

P.S note i said ONE of the greatest...before everyone starts belting me with movies...
And people wonder why Hollywood dumbs things down...
People have come to a point where they have shorter attention spans, so people who grew up watching speech based movies like The God Father, Titanic, even horror movies like Psycho, (where nothing happens for a half an hour into the movie, and nothing really ever happens again) we get shunned upon by movies around gore, sex, nudity, violence, and stonking great tits! cookie to whomever knows what web series that is from...its on this site *hint hint*
Um I'm gonna take a wild guess....

Is it Zero Punctuation?

And yes and that's what games are doing now these days. Publishers don't want to take a risk in making new IP's and dumb everything down, because of it.
You sir...get a cookie, and that is completely true (i believe i spelled completely wrong) because there was a time where games were intelligent and used that thing you have in your head that no one uses anymore...oh i know what its called...your brain! Even some new games have some sorts of thinking in it...basically anything made by Tim Schafer, or Tom Clancy, because Tom Clancy games cant be run and gunned. Also i want more adventure games...the last good adventure game i can remember is Grim Fandango...another Tim Schafer game...if you havent played it; play it, beat it, blog about it, and love it...On a more serious note, there are some serious games...just not that many
Alright I will check out that Tim Schafer game thanks for letting me know of its existence.
But seriously when did this whole "dumbing down" thing start to happen?
Want the truth or a lie...

The truth: F.P.S's became less funny, and more t-bagging a.k.a Halo, C.O.D (though C.O.D had an intruiging story...even if it was cliche)

R.P.G's lost the R in their P.G...with some exceptions

Hollywood realized that kids liked alot of gore, instead of intelligent movies...

The F.C.C let alot more things get away nowadays...seriously, look at rated R movies of yesteryears...they were so tamed to the stuff now...just watch the movie Knocked Up...or SAW..my case is closed

The lie: people brought cocaine to video game shows and made games stupid...

Hollywood hired Micheal Bay to direct EVERYTHING
I thought the t bagging was put there to make FPS funny...

And I have to disagree with you on the FCC, back then PG rated movies had kids in them saying bad words now its much more tamer. Have you seen cartoons these days? There all toned down from cartoons back in the day.

And I think people wanted more realism in FPS, because they wanted an immersive experience. That's why Halo got so popular it limited the players choice in weapons and how much you can carry instead of being able to carry all of the weapons at the same time.

I believe this applies to your confusing poll:

And I have nothing against IB. By no means extraordinary, I thought, but better than a lot of movies I've seen. Love or hate Tarentino, you gotta admit that he knows what he's doing as a filmmaker.

That was just uncalled for. Look, I got the scene. I got the whole movie. I just didn't care for being bored the whole time (except the scalping).
If you seriously didn't get why that scene was important and you seriously thought it was boring, no, you really didn't get it.

Tandrews said:
Damn was completely ninja'd there. I agree completely with atalanta. The whole point of that scene was whether or not he was toying with her the entire time about knowing her true identity and the suspense that that brung.
Sorry (not really :V)

I was a little underwhelmed by some of the opening scenes with the Basterds (they were enjoyable enough, but kind of heavy-handed), but that scene between Landa and Shosanna was just fantastic, and the beginning of all the really good stuff.

Tandrews said:
Because he singled out avatar and Inglorious and showed dislike towards them. I thought they were some of the better films out last year so i'm surprised is all. Just want to see what his taste in films is like to compare.
I have immensely mixed feelings about Avatar. It was gorgeous and it really shone in 3D and I'm glad I saw it all the pretty, but the plot was paper-thin and filled with enough stereotypes I really hate (Noble savages! Mighty Whitey! Technology and capitalism are evil! Etc etc) that I had a hard time turning off my brain and just watching the glorious scenery roll past.

I can respectfully admit that he does know his way around dialogue. He is a good filmmaker. Funny comic thing.

Where is the 'Meh' option...

I think like one movie that was around the same time...(same year? i ono) burn after reading, nothing really happens. People died, someone got divorced... and the idjiots kept being ijdoqits

The Basterds fail their plan.!
Umm,no they din't.They were able to make go on through with is till the end.

OT:I fricking loved it.I saw it in the theaters on the last showing,so there weren't many people there. And it was awesome.
I loved the fact that english was actually the third most spoken language in the film. And S.S. Col. Hand Landa was the best movie character of '09 in my opinion.
They had to improvise, they killed Hitler after just forsaking the plan. Thems two guys got caught and office man scalped him later (which I liked). But yeah, they failed the original plan.
and when the plan fails you improvise common action movie die hard stuff whats so bad about that? sorry for double post
Who said that was bad?
you did apparently? I'm confused

OT:
I rather like Inglorious Basterds, it was well written, well acted, and I thought it was both tense and hilarious in all the right places.

It's one of my personal favorite movies, but I don't understand why you made the poll question so roundabout.

errmmm, no. generally I reserve deep emotions such as hate for things that deserve it.

things I didnt like about the movie:

brad pitt.

Hitler as a saturday morning cartoon villian.

last but not least, a story where my people ((Jews)) descend to the same level of depravity as Nazi's. see: scalping, the "Bear Jew",etc, etc.

this is a case where the supposed heroes "stared into the abyss" way too long.

so hate it, no. like it, not even remotely.

I don't hate the movie. I don't like it for reasons I have stated. And also, my friend ruined it for me completely because he decided to argue with me about it for 2 weeks. It was a 6 when we started, now it is a 4.5-5 at best. The more we argue, the lower it goes until it hits 0.

Solid film, well acted. Silly, but with several scenes that carried incredible tension despite the premise.

Well written, well directed.

No, I didn't like the movie. It was just another attempt by Tarantino to try to make money by putting in bloody scenes ad nauseum. He knows that the 13-21 crowd loves it. Acting wise, however, Christoph Waltz did a fantastic job. The movie is worth seeing just to see such a good job acting. I'm glad I didn't pay anything to see it. Even free, except for Waltz' acting, the movie wasn't worth the price.

Best movie that came out last year, behind MAYBE the Hurt Locker. I'll accept detracting opinions, but OP's an ill-informed ramble that reeks of being just WRONG.

Not only did you not pay to see the movie, I don't even think you SAW the movie. Basterds was a clear case of Tarantino holding back on the action scenes, and really there wasn't even that much gore to it. Most action happened in a flash and was done with to make way for some of the most tense and interesting dialogue written for the screen.
