In my opinion I thought Inglorious Basterds was a great film. I will admit it wasn't Tarantino's best film, I think that either goes to Kill Bill or Pulp Fiction. In the end though I really enjoyed Inglorious Basterds.

If you are going to make a poll please make it so that it is not biased.

Umm,no they din't.They were able to make go on through with is till the end.

OT:I fricking loved it.I saw it in the theaters on the last showing,so there weren't many people there. And it was awesome.
I loved the fact that english was actually the third most spoken language in the film. And S.S. Col. Hand Landa was the best movie character of '09 in my opinion.
They had to improvise, they killed Hitler after just forsaking the plan. Thems two guys got caught and office man scalped him later (which I liked). But yeah, they failed the original plan.
and when the plan fails you improvise common action movie die hard stuff whats so bad about that? sorry for double post

I loved the film to death. One of Tarantino's best films.

Why don't you just admit to your friend that you are in a minority for disliking the film (as clearly shown in this thread)?

Not really.Sure they had to improvise a little. But they had planned for the original plan not working by planting those small arms in the trash bins.
And the plan was in reality nothing more than kill Hitler,Gobbles and the other dudes and blow up the theater.

It was slow, boring, and awful. Terentino (I know I'll be flamed for this lol) Needs to stop making films and go to a part of the world so we can forget he exists.
The only thing I give it credit for, is doing the same thing "Valkyrie" did....keeping it so they didn't succeed in killing Hitler.
Dude... the events portrayed Valkyrie really happened. Thats pretty much how the assassination attempt went down. Its based on real events. In Inglorious Basterds they succeed in killing Hitler. Hell they shoot his body to pieces with sub machine guns.

I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was pretty damn awesome, actually, I mean, it butchered the fuck out of WWII history, but it was still good.

Fuck you, I'm the master of double negatives.

OT: Inglorious Basterds is a great film and if you don't think so you must...not enjoy that film, and I respect your opinion.

I loved it.

And as for it being his best...Why does it have to be? Must every film a man makes be compared to his previous works? Can't they just be judged on their own terms?

Solid film, well acted. Silly, but with several scenes that carried incredible tension despite the premise.

Well written, well directed.

Seconded. I have the attention span of a ground squirrel and for its length, it certainly kept me enthralled. I love historical movies (being a history nut as I am) and I loved the way the whole premise was delivered, it wasn't all just "BLOW THINGS UP!" there was so much more depth to it and that's what makes it recommendable to me.

Iight, this is only because my friend won't stop bitching about it. He keeps telling me to make this thread so I am. Do you like Inglorious Basterds? I say no. The plot development takes way too long and it results in nothing elaborate. Shosanna or Soshanna doesn't get killed by that guy from the beginning. The Basterds fail their plan. It may be somewhat of a comedy, but I didn't laugh, I just viewed it as stupid, now I'm going to make this a poll and you will agree that the movie sucks solely because I want to tell him that I win. Now vote damn-it!!
I suppose not all people can take that kind of violence, I can't really blame you for not being able to stomach it, not all people can be strong enough to watch that kind of movie, and see that it is funny, and it did have a good story and good acting, though most people do. I personally thought it was funny, and overall great, I guess you didn't get the memo that the parts you thought were serious were actually funny, or you were closing your eyes the whole time. Oh well, every one is entitled to their opinions ;)

Yeah, I know "Valkyrie" was based on a true story.
Forgive me for forgetting how Basterds ended. I tried to block it's atrocity from memory.

You made me laugh, I can stomach all images or violent scenes. I was just bored and the funny parts didn't strike me as funny at all. It also makes me laugh that people are taking me seriously.

The poll seems to be skewing the results, but its pretty clear from the responses that most people liked it.

I thought it was very fun with great acting and writing. The only thing I didn't like is how its hype completely overshadowed District 9, a much better movie (My favorite of the year), but I'm not gonna relate it to the quality of the film.

Well given that it was one of the best films of the year, and frankly it was HITLER GETTING SHOT WITH MACHINE GUNS! forgetting what happened seems a bit strange

I thought it was great. I don't think you realize how well they built up the suspense with each act. The beginning is one of the best of seen. However it still doesn't top pulp fiction.

It was an excellent film from a professional stand-point.

Well acted (Christoph Waltz), great script, funny at times, great dramatic tension, a natural ode to film, and very well directed.

Now from a personal stand-point...I loved it.
