No, I didn't like the movie. It was just another attempt by Tarantino to try to make money by putting in bloody scenes ad nauseum. He knows that the 13-21 crowd loves it. Acting wise, however, Christoph Waltz did a fantastic job. The movie is worth seeing just to see such a good job acting. I'm glad I didn't pay anything to see it. Even free, except for Waltz' acting, the movie wasn't worth the price.
I agree that was how it was marketed, and I dragged my feet on going to see it for exactly this reason (I loved Reservoir Dogs like burning, but I didn't care so much for Kill Bill), but I was pleasantly surprised by it -- sure it was bloody, but the scenes starring Landa or Shosanna, and the Mexican stand-off in the pub (before the SHOOT EVERYONEEEE bit) were excellent without having blood splurting everywhere.
I wanted to like it, but just couldn't bring myself to do so. I did enjoy Waltz's portrayal of his character and found myself oddly wishing that the movie had been about his character and that the "inglorious basterds" were totally absent from the movie.

the first time i saw it it rested firmly in my top 5 movies of all time. the second time, due to the degrading tension from seeing it already, i didn't enjoy it as much, but i still really liked it. better than pulp fiction in my opinion. kill bill is still tarintino's best though.

It was brilliant! In all Tarantino films the scripting is what wins me over. I hang off every single word each character says. Inglourious Basterds is no exception, even despite all the subtitles. I laughed when I read OT's comment that the plot didn't "end in anything elaborate" - for me, this movie had an incredibly satisfying ending.

I loved it. I'm a Tarantino fan and, despite many others' views, Reservoir Dogs is my personal favorite of his. I ended up buying this on Blu-Ray without seeing it before, and was nervous about some of the reviews that came up. But I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen, and every scene reinforced why I'm a Tarantino fan. Even the smallest of scenes that would have no purpose in other movies make sense in this just because of the ways that the characters plots' intertwined and contributed to the film.

So, it's not for everyone, but anyone who's willing to give it a shot and enjoys Tarantino's film-making would enjoy it, some on higher levels than others.

I thought it was silly. But I liked it.

Also gratuitous shots of Hitler getting riddled with bullets.
Spoiler, ************! Do you use it?

PS: I am not being aggressive I'm (mis)quoting pulp fiction.

EDIT: Computer's slow, ended up double posting accidentally.

Also, rephrase the poll question if you can. The phrasing that you have is kind of confusing based on what you are asking. Might I suggest, "Did you enjoy Inglourious Basterds?" instead.

I would have been pretty okay with that, too, tbh. The basterds grew on me eventually, but the first scene they were in was so deeply silly (and Brad Pitt was playing one of the cardboard cut-out stereotype characters that I hate with a fiery, undying passion, which didn't help) that it took a little while for that to wear off.

Inglourious Basterds is not the sort of movie I usually enjoy; war movies that gleefully celebrate violence, especially the kind of sadistic thrills involved in scalpings and beating people's heads in, are generally not the sorts of things I go for. That being said, for me at least the high points of the movie were great (Shosanna's calmly resolute despair; the scene in the restaurant between Landa and Shosanna; the scene in the pub; the gorgeous shots of Marcel smoking in front of the pile of film, then Shosanna's face on the screen wreathed in flame) that I could pretty easily overlook the parts of the movie I didn't like. But, y'know, YMMV and all that.

I absolutely loved it, and it easily remains my favorite film of the year and one of my favorite films of all time. Hell, I may have even liked it better than Pulp Fiction, difficult a task as that is, to make it top my list of Tarantino films. Honestly, I can only think of a few other films that kept me so engrossed throughout, and I can't even fathom why you didn't enjoy it (then again, this is coming from a Quentin Tarantino fanboy, so i might be a bit biased).

All I can say is 'what an awesome movie'.
Everyone's taste is different so let's leave it at that.

Well acted, solid, well directed, good script, over all good filmmaking. Maybe it's you who have bad taste, and not your friend?(The last part i a joke, of course) The movie had a crapload of refrences to the movie industry as well, refrences that most people won't get, refrences to things like German Expressionism and other styles.

I thought it was great.

The comedy was rare but incredibly clever and funny when delivered, the plot was well paced and engaging, the acting was top notch and the action was pretty good too.

Iight, this is only because my friend won't stop bitching about it. He keeps telling me to make this thread so I am. Do you like Inglorious Basterds? I say no. The plot development takes way too long and it results in nothing elaborate. Shosanna or Soshanna doesn't get killed by that guy from the beginning. The Basterds fail their plan. It may be somewhat of a comedy, but I didn't laugh, I just viewed it as stupid, now I'm going to make this a poll and you will agree that the movie sucks solely because I want to tell him that I win. Now vote damn-it!!

...It appears I unintentionally confused some people. Not not means yes because they cancel. So Yes means you hate it, No means you like it.
I enjoyed it. Why not leave it up to personal taste? I'm pretty sure most people disagree with you though. Who cares?
