frankly im not too sure if they were better or if i just enjoyed them better as a kid...i mean i loved ren and stimpy and as a kid liked the moonwalker movie. after i was an adult i watched them and was wondering if i what i was on, but the reality is if the cartoons showing now showed when i was a kid i probably would like them. i think old cartoons are just a connector to childhood memories.

It's okay... (Pats Blinds on the back) at least video games won't sell out right? We only have a billion space marines, Farmville, several company's that only remake the same game every year, and Lego Rock Band...
They do, but that doesn't mean I have to stop liking them, right? There are still good video games.
-We must bring the genius of Spielberg back to cartoons, it's our only chance! Hurry my old chum, to the Batmobile!
CREAM SANWICHES BATMAN! THE NEW BATMAN CARTOON IS HORRIBLE! WE CAN'T STOP IT!
I still watch it because I still needs my Batman fix. You'd think that with the Dark Knight, Batman would finally be accepted and we'd get another really good Batman cartoon. Nope!
Remember Batman Beyond?

That was the shit right there.
I own the first and second seasons. IT IS GLORIOUS!! Also, Samurai Jack meets the Spartans? FUCKING EPIC!
Remember ANY Samurai Jack episode? FUCKING EPIC!

Also, I really love the film noir episode.

There are some shows that I find hilarious and are on par with old cartoons.

Phineas and Ferb is one of them. There are jokes that the younger kids won't get and visual subtleties they won't get.

The running gags somehow stay fresh and never get worn out (family guy and spongebob could take a lesson from this). Good shows are far and few between but they are out there. I would still take the old shows though.

I actually just downloaded that episode from Xbox Live.

Its 300. In the future. Fighting robots. With Samurai Jack.
That is the pure essence of awesome.

Yeah, now look what we have. A kid pirate who wants to hunt down a island of candy, a Plum thing acid adventures, a surviver rip-off, and Batman spitting out catch phrases and teaming up with annoying C-list DC heros as if it was freaking 1965.

Everything was better when I was a kid; TV shows, comedies, horror films, music, cartoons, commercials, fashion, the news, prices..... I miss the old days so much that it's made me bitter & resentful. The only thing that's gotten better or remained progressively good is comics books & video games.

I am a major cartoon Junkie, let me say first of all. Also, I think there are good cartoons in every generation, sandwiched by waves of really awful nonsense. This of course, can happen in any medium.

In regards to cartoons released in 2000, we've actually had quite a nice handful of great cartoons such as The Weekenders, Avatar the Last Airbender, Transformers Animated, Venture Brothers, The Spectacular Spiderman, Megas XLR, The Fairly Odd Parents, Ben 10, Justice League, Invader Zim, Teen Titans, The Power Puff Girls, As Told by Ginger and a few others. Now, you may not agree with some of my list, but I think a lot of it you might. The fact is, every decade has it's good shows if you take the effort to look for it and not let your nostalgia goggles cloud your opinions.

Now. Because now, I can enjoy all the humor, not just the low brow child humor I did as a kid. THat's still the best kind though.

Old cartoons were better by far, new cartoons have to either be stupidly safe or so obscure to be aired.

Rockos Modern Life
Sonic The Hedgehog (Seriously Sonic was basically a terrorist bombing factories)
Swat Kats
The Real Ghostbusters
Loony Tunes (shown now but censored)
Tom and Jerry (shown now but censored)

There HAVE been some good cartoons recently, but some were either canceled quickly or were ruined.
Megas XLR (Canceled)
Ed Edd and Eddy (ruined)
Billy and Mandy (dunno what happened stopped watching TV)
Cow and Chicken (canceled)

Either way you get the idea.

Take a look at my profile, I was 10 in 2000. I was a kid then and there are the fucking cartoons(with a few exceptions) that I'm talking about.
-Did anyone see the Batman Beyond Epilogue episode in Justice League Unlimited? If you love Batman, you will make it your mission to see this shit! Wonderful Star Wars moment there.
