Oh my GOD!

I'm sorry, this is just... *waits for American Mothers to freak out*

But seriously... Has it come to the point where things in USA is so bad that they have to blame friggin Mr. Rogers for the country going to shits? Holy crap! Whats next? Seriously, we have some discussion value here; who/what will the media/government blame next?
Let me just correct you there, its FOX NEWS that said and believes that, not America as a whole . Almost every single American in the coast knows that Fox bullshit, and not all Americans are the same, but as Mr. Rogers would say, we are all (not just America) special, but some are more special than others it seems.

On the direct topic, Fox news always make me split my sides, but the this takes the cake.

JESUS CHRIST!!! are you kdding me!?!?

NO Mr. Rogers has done nothing wrong at all. Fox is misinterpreting everything that Mr. Rogers has said. What he means is that we are all special because we have the ability to be great. Yes, he wasn't specific about it, but com'on they are blaming him because what... he wasn't specific enough on this. Any person with common sense knows you gotten practice and work at something in order to be great at it. Nothing in this world is just handed to you for no reason.

Mr. Rogers was explaining that we are all special in our own way; that there are things about us (personality) that make us unique. We can be whatever we want as long as we have the patience, strength, will, and love for it. Not only was he a caring and humbled man, he was a soldier in war. He put his life on the line for our country, and when he got older he decided to make up for the things he had done fighting in the war. He taught millions of kids how to do certain tasks. He showed them how to be polite and have good manners. Again he did nothing wrong.

my parents told me i was special, now i get why i didn't turn out to be a banker/lawyer/scinetist/astronaut/cop/soldier, i alwys thought that the world owed me something, thank you fox

I realised at a very young age that adults sometimes lie to make kids feel better, so when my parents told me I was special I always took it as an inspiration to actually be better

That. That single opinion, and anyone who has ever had it, anytime throughout history, is far more damaging than a tv show.
Agreed, opinions like that are just people blanketing comments over an entire generation to feel superior.

You know what, I watched Mr. Rogers as a kid. I'm currently a hard-working university student who has a successful job at a metal factory, and I did that by working hard. I realized as a kid that although I was indeed special that I needed to earn my way rather then just get it. Mr. Rogers never encouraged kids to slack off, rather, he encouraged good self-esteem, and I'm guessing parents like these FOX News 'reporters' have the exact opposite effect on their kids. I pity their children.

It seems like Fox News is just trying to be the worst, least credible source of information available now. Really? Mr. Rogers is evil for telling kids that they're special? Really? What the fuck, Fox News?!

If Mr.Rogers is truely evil then I wish to know who is on the opposite end of the morality spectrum.

The people of Fox and Friends are scum, plain and simple. So what, making people feel good and giving them positive reinforcement turns them into egotistical, selfish twats? If that's true, the crew of Fox and Friends much watch it religiously.

I didn't see the entire video but I bet at the end is a lead in to their new kids show " Life with Uncle Glenn" which is exactly like his old show where he shouts about the destruction of America but with a bright and sunny background and puppets.

The irony is Fox and Friends does nothing but tell ignorant people they are right and perfect.

Inflated self esteem is bad, but kids don't wanna hear that life is cruel. They're kids. They'll think their special regardless of what they watch. They're not, but try telling them that. Maybe Mr. Rodgers should of said "keep on truckin'."

Nice find. Ok it's a slow news day and faux gets the call, WE NEED NEWS! Quick they need a controversy, somthing to stir up the emotions of their viewers. *ding* an idea hits, Lets take a happy childhood memory and twist it so it is the root of all evil!

I am a loyal member of the army raised by Mr. Rogers and it is time we fight back!

Wait... never mind I just remembered who runs fox, everyone calm down and go home.

I present the president of fox

well, I see the fox bashers are out in force as usual.

I'm currious how many you actually watched the clip? I did and I didn't didn't see where Fox and Friends were bashing Mr. Rogers. If you paid attention the whole basis of this story was a study that was reciently published. I didn't catch where, but I'm at work.

Amazing how that little detail was missed.

Being entitled and being special are completely different events. Entitlement comes from parents who perpetuate a family mythology of inherent superiority. You are responsible for how your kids are raised, not the TV, not the horrifying message of mister rogers. Frankly anyone who doesn't give the message of mister rogers to kids in some form should get punched in the face every day for the rest of their lives. You don't need to put down kids, you need to explain consequences and ways to mitigate. Common sense is what kids need, not freakish parental androids who run around with pitchforks over the horrible influence of TV shows.
