If I get sick, I fix up a cocktail of medications.
Yeah, this, only all day I have been having my "Medication Cocktail" with real cocktails. Am I still sick? Probably, but hell, I won't know if I'm ill or hungover tomorrow.

I wait it out. Pain medication makes me feel like shit as it wears off and most of them make me feel groggy the day after.

It depends on the headache, as some headaches I need to take medication as soon as I can before it develops into a migraine, this fortunatly doesnt happen so often, and I can tell when its a pre migrane headache and just a normal annoying one.
Other than that it depends how bad it is if I take pills or not. If its not too bad I try wait it out.

I often just choose to suck it up. I've found even over-the-counter medications have side-effects that I'd rather not deal with.

I usually wait out something like that and distract myself, but if it gets really unbearable or I'm going out somewhere I take a pill or whatever I can do.

When I was taking Isotretin, I usually walked around with 2-3 ibuprofen at all times because of the headaches I would get..

I concur with Haddi; wait it out. I have to be seriously sick or in pain to take medication and if I'm not I just "man up" and grin and bear it. Sickness is natural and pain is your body's way of saying something is wrong to dose yourself up seems sort of...arrogant in my opinion.
Well then it's a good thing I can admit I'm arrogant. I would think myself better in that respect without false notions that pain actually teaches you anything. (physical pain that is, don't underestimate uppercuts to the mind)

Like most people here, I wait it out, and if it doesn't go away, I pop a pill. I usually feel fine unless I've been gaming/surfing the web for too long, which I usually only realize when I stop. As a rule of thumb, if I either can't sleep due to the pain or am feeling it for the second night in a row, I take something.

I also usually try to take muscle relaxants rather than painkillers since the relaxants help relief the cause, while painkillers only relieve the syntoms. I think. In reality I may just be trying to justify self-medicating.

Wait it out, this method has only ever gone bad for me on one occasion when i had strep and it landed me in hospital for 3 weeks, but other that that it's worked so far.

Sorry, I meant stuff in general, not just headaches. I meant that you should wait out stuff like the common cold, headaches and arthritis and things like that you can totally treat with painkillers.
