Either PC or PS3 and give the PS3 copy away to someone else and use the free PC code.

The Source engine likes to use mainly the CPU which is probably why it runs so great on most computers. Your PC is more than powerful enough so I say definitely get it on PC.

There are no cons in buying a Valve game for the platform Valve primarily develop for.

It's not gonna work like that. Valve have said that in order to get your free PC copy when you buy the PS3 version you have to link your Steam account with your PSN account. Technically you're not getting a free copy but just a copy you can play on both PS3 and PC as save files are stored in the cloud (if you want them to).

I've always thought it was easier to do the harder maps on the PC due to the higher speed that you can aim at, however arguably taht makes the pc version easier. I would say if youre up for a challenge xbox, but as you said there are mods and more people to coop with on the pc so it really depends which one you value more!

As stated before, Valve is primarily a developer for PC. The Source engine is optimized for PCs, they support their PC games better (see TF2), plus Portal has quite a few mods for it, which I imagine Portal 2 will get soon after its release. Unless you have a compelling reason not to use Steam, like bandwidth caps or something of the sort, I can pretty much guarantee your experience will be better.

How Valve games are meant to be played, on the PC
They are meant to be played on the PC, Valve has made PC exclusive games for a decade now, there's no reason putting games on Mac and consoles will change that one bit.

I have the same problem. It'd look better on my PC, but theres more people to play co-op with on Live.
If you have trouble finding Co-op partners on steam you really are doing it wrong. Join open groups or hop in open games, if not add me I always am up for Co-op.
There are 30 million people on Steam. If you can't find anyone playing Portal 2 on PC or Mac after release, then you're not connected to Steam.

With an i7 and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 220, it is guaranteed to look and run better on the PC.
It's far superior to the ancient hardware of the xbox.

Are you retarded? PEOPLE WILL CREATE HD GRAPHICS MODS TO MAKE THE GAME LOOK BETTER!
PC all the way. (If you really want to use your xbox 360 controller, go to bestbuy or gamestop and ask them for a device that will let you use the controller ON YOUR PC!!!!)

not lying, 360 controller for the pc. Go check it out.

Buy it on PS3.

Activate your free copy on Steam.

Sell your PS3 copy to a friend.

Save $$$$$ : )
one would hope Valve is stupid enough to not see it coming...
Isn't it the same as trading it in at a used game store tho? People can't do that with PC games anymore it seems, but it is common place for console games.
You can think whatever you like. But Valve wont see it that way. Game developers would want you to buy new games instead of used; just as car dealers would want you to buy new cars instead of used.

Valve is generous towards PS3 owners with digital copies of the game. But there has to be some kind of restriction that binds PS3 copies to the digital.

Considering the specs of the rest of your laptop, the graphics card can't be that bad.

PC easily. Especially considering how well optimised the Source engine is. And its cheaper on PC.
^This. Also, how is the gamepad a plus when we're talking FPS mechanics? Maybe I'm missing something, but the mouse trumps it by far from where I'm standing.

I plan on playing on the PC. ^_^ I'd say PC.

There is just something about playing Portal on the PC. *eye sparkles, single tear*

Looking at YOUR PROS AND CONS LISTS I find it hard to believe that so many people would say PC. You clearly seem to prefer Xbox as it has the most Pro's.

PC, with almost objective certainty.

what is this? what makes the PC version not guaranteed to look great? idk what your talking about.

Xbox Pro:
- It will look great out of the box
- XBL co-op would have the majority of friends
- Game pad (I'm not buying a wired one for the PC)
Again, looking great out of the box... this makes no sense. Not an actual point.

get new friends, ofc. well I'm guess many of them are not really your friends, ie people you haven't met, so they r easily replaceable. I'll even friend&play with you if you become convinced that PC version makes much more sense.

Game pad... idk what to say... you have like $70 for the xbox ver, but you don't have $50 + $40 for the steam copy and a wired controller? Use the saving from getting the steam copy to buy a wired controller, you'll come out with more stuff at less cost, in aggregate. OR maybe you could borrow one from your plethora of xbl friends?

NVIDIA GeForce GT 220
again how could portal 2 not look good on this system... Idk where u got the idea that it "won't look as good on pc" when your pc outclasses your xbox by about 3 years worth of technological development. Perhaps it won't run at 60fps at max settings, but the xbos ver will be stuck on mid-low level settings and still only put out 30fps.

For me it would be the Xbox as i don't have the fortune to own a PS3. It would be Xbox over PC as the multiplayer is what Portal 2 will be all about and I'd rather just play split screen on Xbox than have to find someone else to LAN with my sub-par computer.

It's "LA Noire," not "LA Noir." (Which is ironic, since the film genre from which the game draws its inspiration is spelled without the e. I guess they dun goofed)

OT: PC, without a doubt.

I beleive they'll require you to link your steam account with the PS3/PSN account. I think.

EDIT: That might just be online play though.
