I'll vote "sim" though the realism doesn't have to be that high. I'd prefer to play something like ARMA or Operation Flashpoint, and Red Orchestra, than Call of Duty.

It's not because I don't like arcadey shooters (I'm a huge Quake 3 and UT junkie), but if a shooter is touted as realistic, I'd prefer it to err more on the side of sim. I'm somehat of a gun collector, and I guess it's just my anal-retentive preference of having the guns I like in real life perform like they should in-game.

ArmA2 is good but not far enough toward realism. The more realistic the game the better the guns feel, instead of being boring little "ping ping ping ping ping ping" things they become something that makes things die :D

People have this stupid idea that realism is boring, dull and nothing ever happens, this is not true. Realism means that a shot to the heart will put you on your ass, an RPG will only tell the Abrams where you are, and your leg is broken for good.

Authenticity is what people often think of when realism is mentioned, yes, an authentic cold war would be f**king boring because nothing would happen.

Authenticity: uniforms, language, tactics etc. How things are done.
Realism: weapon damage, running speeds etc. What happens when you do them.

Realism all the way! And authenticity to a certain degree, but there are certain times when authenticity must be sacrificed to make the game fun, for example, I know waiting all night for the mission to start would be authentic but screw that ;) ArmA2 is a good mix, but needs more realism.

Arcadey. Before MW2 was released, I kep on seeing people on forums arguing about what they think would be/should be in the game, and peoples dedication to realism just stated getting in the way of balnced gameplay. Complete dedication to absolute realism annoys me tremendosly. I still am mad about the loss of health bars in mainstream shooters.

Fuck realism, I want the gameplay and movement to be as smooth and fluid as possible. That is why I voted for Arcadey because if it feels like Halo then it has to be the best. Easy momevement in any direction, your aim is always the same so you don't have to bring up your gun or stop to shoot, and so forth. I hate all the others that feel like you're moving through fucking quicksand and and your gun is being weighed down by an anchor.

TF2 realism, like Timesplitters sort of. I play alot of TF2 so I guess that.

Timesplitters was brilliant.
This sort. I don't like gritty utter realism, which is why i like Tf2, Borderlands and XIII

I enjoy realism such as what you get in a Brothers in Arms game. Not quite real but not quite fake

ArmA II realism is what keeps me gaming! I'm all about sims. The only problem is that I can't run ArmA II very well right now, so I am waiting for a performance-enhancing patch since I don't have a 'doom PC' operational yet.

I actually loathe quasi-realistic FPS games since getting into the realistic 'war sim' genre. I now find it annoying to be able to soak up bullets, survive more than one grenade, and take out thousands of enemies without so much of a scratch. Ever since the original Operation Flashpoint back in 2001, I have not been able to play naything else and really enjoy it. Well, there have been a few FPS games that I have really enjoyed, but I only really get excited about war sims.

I'm also big on hyper-realistic flight sims, but I suppose that's for another thread...

I enjoy realistic. I enjoy arcade style too. really it depends on my mood... for the poll I put realistic. I don't like simulators cause they suck... My favorite realistic FPS currently is Rainbow 6 Vegas 2. freaking fun.

I love realism. I make realism mods for games like Fallout 3 and such. However, I don't like ARMA levels of realism (if I wanted that, I'd join the military :p). However, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is very fun and pretty realistic.

I prefer speedy arcadey like Quake, first Painkiller and Serious Sam.
Halo is waayyy too sllloooowwwww for my taste.

If games go down the realistic path, they better go all the way, like Operation Flashpoint(first one, not the new Dragon Rising crap). Call me crazy, but I think it was much better than Arma 2 in that department.

Arcadey for me, if I want a truly realistic visceral expeirence, I'll just grab some buds and play air-soft. More fun than any one hit kill video game.

You should add an option about all of em i think.
Personally,i like all of em,it just depends my mood and the players that are online (because you can't really play realistic and simulating games with players who have no idea about team work).
