I'm sure there will be a class action lawsuit against them, then again I'm sure the company had this listed in a LOOOOOOONG list of possible sideffects which might make them safe. I say might because I know very little about suing, it seems like there's always a loophole on either side of the argument hat leaves me scratching my head.

shitting blood is a perfectly reasonable excuse to sue.

people have sued for $50,000 because they got the wrong color flowers. seriously, it was on the whatever thing on LRR.com.

Suing for dumb reason is stupid. This isn't something stupid, it's something that has affected your whole life! Don't be scared to sue

Just do what Hubilub said, he seems to know what he's talking about. If you want an actual opinion, it's along the same lines. Get a second opinion, do your research, and if it hasn't gone away, then you can sue.

Yeah. Now imagine that you're watching that on a screen in real time. And it's your own insides. And they've positioned you in a way that you don't have anywhere else to look.

And, they have a little claw thing that tears tissue samples off the sides. Oh, and because it's supposed to be a quick procedure, the nurse told you they weren't going to bother doping you up.

Colonoscopies are FUN! Thankfully the second time was much better, the guy doped me up and got it done in about ten minutes. Very professional.

They have no side effect because there IS NOTHING TO HAVE SIDE EFFECTS FROM.
Well, yes, that's the point. Apart from the sugar, homeopathic remedies have only an extremely small amount of the "active ingredient," little enough that it couldn't possibly have any negative effects on your system. Logically, it couldn't have any positive effect on your system either, but there are millions of people who swear it works (better than a placebo). As scientific evidence goes that's awfully shaky, but as we've already established there are no side effects. So is there any reason why he shouldn't try it?

When I think of frivolous lawsuits, I think spilling coffee on your lap, finding it was hot. Suing McDonalds because their food made you fat. Suing the government cause your party didn't like the outcome of a certain bill being passed (US).

When I think of things that are NOT frivolous lawsuits, I think major car accidents, medical screw ups, fraud.

You sir are entitled to something, for this. But keep in mind, the medical field is all about treatment, not cures. Still, that's not something that'll come up in court, so I say get what's due to you.

Really doubt you'll win, this kind of side effet is mentioned on the information sheet in the pack.

Besides I don't like this compensation culture, just cos shit happened doesn't mean you are entitled to money.

Your best bet is to try and sue for Strict Liability---talk to a lawyer about the 402-A restatement of torts, which basically only requires that the company put a defective product on the market that caused you bodily harm. It's going to be a long, drawn out case, so I hope you and your lawyer are ready---but you do have legal grounds to sue.

Admittedly I'm no lawyer, but if the company warns you about possible side effects before-hand, or if the packaging contains a similar warning, then you're pretty much screwed. It was your choice to take the drugs that caused your illness, same as how you can't sue McDonalds because their food made you fat.

Your only safe bet would be if the pills were 'faulty' and the company could be sued on grounds of gross negligence(?).

Edit: Basically what Khitten said three minutes before me.

Because it is a waste of money which contributes to the "natural medicine" industry which promotes misinformation about medical treatments and the efficacy of their "alternative" treatments?
Why spend money on something when you KNOW there are no real effects?

This is not the kid of place to seek informed advice on either law or health. If I found out a friend of mine was acting on legal or medical advice they read on a forum on the internet I would fly off the handle altogether.

Do whatever you need to do to find out if there is long term damage to your health.

I don't understand who you're planning on suing here?

Is it not possible that you developed UC and had issues from your medication at the same time and your doctor simply misdiagnosed your UC as complications from your medication?

Looking over the other posts, it seems like these bowel problems were a known potential hazard of taking the medication.

I would get a second opinion from another doctor and ask his opinion of whether or not he thinks the medication caused your UC.

People get UC who aren't on this medication, you could just have the rotten luck of being on of these people.

I really don't see who you or your friends think you can sue... The medication listed these problems as a potential side effect. Your doctor may have made a misdiagnosis, but I don't think you'll have much luck suing a doctor who claims he made the most accurate assessment of you situation given the evidence and did everything in his power to speed your recovery and did nothing negligent or harmful to you.
