No, because scizophrenia is terrible and I don't want to risk people getting it because people can't deal with life.

Also, it won't eliminate gangs. Anyone who thinks that is a fool.

Yeah. Not that it's healthy to use, but if alcohol and cigarettes are legal, there's no reason to keep weed illegal.
This is the worst argument for anything ever. It's like kindergarten all over again.
I don't think anyone is saying it's going to make gangs disappear. I think it's more of having not to deal with big gangs or small ones when trying to buy it. I guess it'd affect gangs that thrive off of the profits for selling weed negatively.

And it only causes Schizophrenia to happen to certain individuals that have a genetic predisposition to having it. Not your every day person.

And pffft. Come on, grow up. People don't always use it as a crutch. A lot, if not, the majority of the users do it to experience something that you normally can't.

people want to smoke pot because to them it's cool and edgy. Take away the cool and edgy part and reduce it to Tobacco and I think we'll start getting somewhere as a society.

No I won't refrain from quoting because its a dumbass and incredibly immature comment. People have smoked pot for thousands of years, they do it because they enjoy it not because it's "cool or edgy". Not to mention the medical benefits it can have for people with serious diseases. There are people who have to endure pain on a day to day basis and can only function properly with the use of medical marijuana, it can also help stimulate hunger in people with phsycological eating disorders. Weed isn't just tobacco it induces a relaxed and elated feeling in a similar way to alchahol. I understand that there are negative side-effects that come from over use but I still think we should make like the Dutch and legalise it, allow for tax to help the economy, make sure everything is safe and help reduce the illegal drug trade and save millions of dollars in the "war on pot".

It doesn't cause schizophrenia, it only amplifies the symptoms in people who actually are schizophrenic.

It does less harm than junk food or constant binge drinking.
It does cause junk food binges, though.

by that logic maybe we should disband the police altogether because its a lot of work. maybe disband healthcrae because its work too. >.>
Arresting people for smoking marijuana is just wasting money and hurting people who in the grand scheme of things are completely harmless... until you mould them into criminals in prison, of course.

actually they would still have no competition as pot stores are heavily spread out and restricted despite legalization due to zoning laws in some states. hell california is so set on the matter only 5 (i think) are allowed to operate due to zoning. most legal users had to go through illegal ways to get it because they would have to drive miles on end to get to one. however it would make no sense to stop production when legalizing it will increase usage and it will only take setting up a legit looking store (if the laws dont restrict locations) to cash in on the increase in usage. makes no sense as far as money is concerned as it means cash and some immunity to cops. legalizing something like this will only spell disaster as the benefit changes dramatically from state to state.
Most estimates put the number of legal medical marijuana dispensaries in California alone in at least the dozens, so I really think your claims are made on dubious facts. There may be only 5 legal growing operations, but I doubt that as well.

This website has listings, there are quite a few: http://www.canorml.org/prop/cbclist.html

Past that claim you stop making coherent sense, so I'm not sure how to handle that.

Would I do pot? No. I don't do anything, including Beer, cigarettes, whatever. Control over myself is a very high priority with me.

Would I vote to legalize pot?

Basically, the way I feel is, if its legal to smoke cigarettes, and drink alcohol, then pot should also be legal.

However, if alcohol/cigs are illegal, then pot should stay illegal too.

Yeah, it doesn't kill anyone and could be taxed which could help the economy a bit. Plus all the stoners would shut up about it and a lot of them would quit because it's no longer a way to stick it to the man without fucking yourself up like with crack, heroin, meth etc.

yes, legalize it. I don't see where the big deal is, people say it destroys lives, well, so does alcohol, tobacco, automedication, food, cars, guns, videogames, unprotected sex, extreme sports, sun tanning,a full time job and a looong loooong(really long) etc. and, as far as I'm concerned, no government I know of forbidds what I just mentioned.

I'd rather roll a joint and smoke it with some friends than go to a bar/pub and get wasted on alcohol, but maybe that's just me. I really don't get why drinking something that tastes far worse, and has worse short term consequences is so much better.

Cigarettes are far worse than pot, yet they're legal and pot isn't. If cigarettes are fine, what's so bad about pot?

Nope and I say it again NOPE! I have relative that is hooked on just about every drug. He's done it ever since 14 and is now in his early 40's. It's insane how he hasn't dropped dead yet. I don't want to see great potential in the lives of others go to waste and be brought to its knees by drugs. My relative could have been a great cook. But now he has spent more time in jail then out of it ever since he has started.

*the relative is a 2ed cousin and is not a close person to me.

Please tell me that was planned?

OT: YES! Give me a solid reason why alcohol is legal and why marijuana isn't, and I'll back off.
Because otherwise we wouldn't have Meade. And that would make me a sad panda.

I hate drugs. The amount of "Yes" votes only shows just how many people lack the brain cells to make appropriate decisions in life. Waste of male sperm, the bunch.

EDIT: Holy fuck. Are you tears really comparing weed to alcohol being legal? All of you need to pick up a modern American history book (probably for middle school since it's obvious the lot of you are morons) and look for the section about "Prohibition."

You do realize that millions and millions of people around the world smoke grass and don't abuse any other drug, or even have the desire to even try them, and that they almost all live completely normal, boring and often successful lives, right?
