I got my first tattoo when I was 20, I think. I have a few now but they're something I dwell on for years before I finally get. I may have gotten most of my piercings in haste, but I like where I'm at now with both tattoos and piercings.

The tattoos I have are all text. The image I want on my back is still in development and nerdily enough it includes zombies.

I don't have one, but I've been thinking about it for years.

My problem is that I want it in a fairly visible place.

I'm at the "draw/henna it on myself and think about it for a while" stage.

I hate people who say "It's the worst pain Evvarrr!" They only say that so it makes them look cooler infront of people who don't have any. Does it hurt? yes, of course it does, but if it hurt loads then why would I have more than one?
This worked so much better with your avatar

So I found out today that my friend got a tattoo, and although I don't yet know what of, he's a large, 300-poundish, 16 year old "gangsta", so it'll probably be something he's gonna regret having in 5-10 years time. All he told me was that it hurt like HELL, and he compared it to someone "taking a pen, jabbing it into your skin, and dragging it around for 3 and a half hours." So my question to the Escapist, is this:

If you were to get a tattoo, what would it be? Or possibly, what tattoos do you have?
What about
"No, but Im getting one soon"

I have nothing against tattoos, they just aren't for me. I've got scars and those were plenty expensive enough for me! I can't think of anything I'd choose to put on my body that would last long enough to make that investment worthwhile.
Maybe get Bald Bull tattooed on my schlong with the words "Hit it like a champ!" above it. Has a bit of humor, but that would be awkward to show off to friends.

Tattoo's are a weird thing for me. My first tattoo I ever got was wings that covered my entire back. They represent my first 18 years of life to me. I got them the month I graduated from high school, and to this day I still like them. But what frustrates me about tattoo's are people who get them for no reason what-so-ever. No story behind it or anything. Just because they "look cool" If your going to permentanly put ink in your skin, make sure your not going to regret it, and make a symbol of something.

To put this to an example, one of my ex-girlfriends decided to get a tattoo after she saw mine. She said "Well yours looks awesome! I want to get one now!" She got a chinese symbol that she was told meant warrior, and she liked it. till we found out it meant lesbian in Chinese.

I wanted to get a simple one that says "TEXAS", near my bicep, however I have no idea where to get one or how much it will cost.

I'm trying to find people to ask about their tattoos but surprisingly (to me at least), most of them said a friend did it at their houses.

Not yet, I plan on getting one on my shoulder once I've toned my torso a bit (paranoid it'll stretch when working out) and also I need money first.

I got my first a few months ago, it was really small so I decided to get another.

This is the end result.

Once I can afford it I plan on getting more music related stuff on that arm, and some nerdy stuff on my other arm. Like.. Dragons and shit.

I have a fire/water ying yang tatoo on my upperback. It's to symbolize alot of things about me and my life, and it was wayyyyy cheaper and easier then my original idea of the water dragon and fire phoenix fighting over the ying yang. Fortunatly, my tatoo artist talked me into something smaller and simpler for my first and I'm glad for that.

Both my younger sisters got tatooes long before me and now they both complain about things they'd do different with them, while I'm still very happy with mine, so make sure you think it through very carefully and even keep in mind the possibility of wanting more, cause most people end up getting one and wanting more.

I've been donating blood for over 10 years and I'm 33 years old. Since I was a late bloomer, I only got interested in getting a tattoo after I couldn't get a tattoo. Rather, I could get a tattoo, but then I'd have to stop donating for a year.

I've decided that if something should happen to me that makes me inelgible to donate for a year, I would then plan on getting a tattoo shortly after said event. I don't know what design I would use though. However, I know that I would take inspiration from the Science Tattoo Emporium [http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/loom/category/science-tattoo-emporium/].

When I was 23, and living in Korea, I got a tattoo on my ankle of a black cat sitting on a purple moon, with a yellow star hanging from it. It's 4 years later, and I still love my tattoo and can't wait to get my second. A lot of other people have terrible tattoos--I think it's important not to get something too cliched or too big.

If I do get one, it will be small and out of the way, and will be of a symbol that's actually meaningful to me, not a dragon or some chinese character that you think means "hope" but actually means "carrot".

I actually got the only one I have completely on a whim, and I have no regrets.

My roommate and I are both Tigers in the Chinese zodiac, and at one point we were looking at tattoo art because we wanted to get matching ones (stupid idea in and of itself, but we weren't actually considering doing it at the time, just looking). I found the kanji for tiger and pointed it out. The tattoo artist told me it'd be $40, my roomie and I ponied up the cash for both of us to get it done, and bam. I have the kanji for tiger in black outline on the inside of my left wrist. It's small, discreet, and I can hide it for work.

I want at least 2 more tattoos, maybe more. It was the most awesome feeling ever.

Only 17 at the moment, and i wouldn't let anyone who does tattoo's for anyone underage within 50 miles of me with a tattoo gun in hand.
I plan on getting covered though (to an extent) and i have a 4 hour appointment booked up for my 18th birthday for a geisha on my left forearm.
Also IMO, tribal doesnt count, its a waste of good ink.

My little sister got a big one on her hip/side as tribute to my grandma's passing without telling my parents. Funny enough, my parents got wedding rings tattooed on and didn't tell my sister after finding out about hers. I'm quite open to the idea, but I've no idea what to get. I think they look great and I really want one. I am taking my time deciding because I don't want to end up getting something I'll regret later down the line. I was contemplating some sort of phrase, or nerd related stuff, but I dunno.

OT: i have a back piece one of my best friends designed for me, i looked at it for years before finally getting it. i also have the quote "We are the music makers.. and we are the dreamers of dreams" split between my forearms in a broken typewriter font. they are both personally relevant and mark a time of change in my life.
OMG If you got the quote from the Rahpsody series I looove thoose books :D

OT I'm considering a few things but I'm not very artistic, so I'mnot sure that I could design my own. I would never get one from the wall, so I might need some help on design,I'm thinking maybe somthing at the nape of the neck or a back peice :)
