Haha, I laughed at the response given:
A Tesco spokesman said: "We would ask Jedis to remove hoods. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Luke Skywalker all went hoodless without going to the Dark Side."

EDIT:
RYjet911 said:
I should also point out that Tesco have done nothing wrong in refusing entry to someone. They do not have to let everyone in. Their buildings are privately owned (As much so as they can be with current governmental control over things) and the owners/security guards of said building have the right to deny entry to those they deem suspicious.
Quoted for truth.
They weren't actually doing anything illegal by kicking this guy from their store...

Of course he should remove his hood when it's store policy that your face be visible.

As should anyone and everyone else. Claiming that your invisible buddy is going to get upset if you don't wear your spiritual gang-tag at all times is hardly a compelling argument.

You can't compare the bible or qur'an to a handbook written last year by a someone who liked the Star Wars movies.
But if this was written 2000 years ago would it be an acceptable religion? According to your logic
would wait 2000 years to find out?
dont think so, so its not comparable

Does anyone else remember Jedi not being religious or is it just me?

That said, Jedi had no problem not wearing hoods but if the Muslims get their coverings the...*snicker* Jedi should have theirs. Still, I'd demand proof of awesome before allowing them to do so,

"Alright I'll just need to see you move the chair with your mind first."

I'm aware that the arguement about how much time goes by before a religion becomes established will probably arise. But remember in this instance its a 'religion' based on a movie.
Qur'an and Bible contain characters which were real. That?s not up for debate; their divinity is, however, up to each person?s interpretation. Even the Qur'an recognises Jesus as a Prophet, but not the son of God.

Star Wars is fiction.

People need to learn the difference.

unfortunately it technically is. enough people put it as a religon in a census for it to count as one, so it counts, even if it is complete bullcrap.

although these guys seem to be taking it waaaaaayyy too seriously.
and of course, it could only happen in wales
It's no more far fetched or bullcrap than other religions.

To all those saying that ALL religions are made up. Maybe so but the major religions that are being quoted, specifically Islam, are religions that are thousands of years old. They are or have been, at one point or another, had a hand in the development of our laws and our world in general. They are given the due respect because of this.

I don't follow any specific religion, frankly I think they are all a load of old balls but I can respect the role they have played in developing the fundamentals of our society.

Jedism has given us nothing and will give us nothing and the fact the guy is the big head honcho of the jedi school of church of standing round waggling his lightsaber doesn't make him or his stupid 'religious' rules any more legitimate.

When Jedism gives us something that can be woven fundamentally in to our society, then and only then will it get seen as a religion but since it's members are going to be spending their time locked in dark rooms trying to lift their model X Wings using nothing but the power of fresh air. The chances of Jedism giving anything other than ample laughing material to the world are round about... oooo is their anything smaller than zero... nope? then I'll stick with; zero, nowt, bugger all, hee bloody haw, not a sausage.

I'll advise worshippers to boycott Tesco if it happens again. They will feel the Force.
That crashing sound that just resonated around the world was the combined force of a thousand people falling out of their seats laughing.
And that clapping sound was the rest of the world face palming.

I may be wrong but I think CC meant to include a comma.

Question: Do you think he should have been kicked out?

Answer: I don't, Jedi is a religion.

Seriously? STFU.

Religions are a philosophy based upon the world and the afterlife.

This is based upon a Science Fiction film/book series. It wasn't even meant to be taken seriously.

Much as I loathe Tesco's, I have to give them kudos for this line

Sorry, but that was awesome PR.
Indeed. Nice to see they have a sense of humour about it rather than taking the serious, defensive role.

Incorrect, the ability to earn money in the name of the church of the Jedi's TAX FREE for it to be recognised as a real religion.

edit: fucking hell, my grammar is as bad as that companion cube fellow.

Forget the whole Jedi Knight thing(which is ridiculous by itself). Lets concentrate on them throwing him out for wearing a hood...Actually lets not,I feel the stupidity of this story rotting my brain already!

That's the funniest thing I've heard all day.

Oh, and Jedi is not a religion. I don't care if there are documents that state it actually is. It is not. You cannot found a religion based on a movie.

On a side note, I wonder how many of them will play The Old Republic? Silly me, what a dumb question...

and just because he "fits" an "stereotype" he shouldn´t be judged as that stereotype.
No.

If he fits a stereotype, one that has a particularly poor reputation, he should be prepared to accept the consequences if he is called out for it. I'm prepared to remove my hood if asked, since I know what kind of people I will be associated with if I wear it in public.

Also, Jedi is only recognised as a religion because of the number of 'followers'. I bet most of those are people who just, for fun, put their religion as such on a census of some kind, boosting numbers by shit loads right there. I have enough problem with religion as it is, without being told I should treat Jedis the same way I would treat any other religion just because it is classified as such.

By the way, I treat all religions in a generally poor fashion because I find them so degenerative to human development, however, this goes double for Jedi. Star Wars never really intrigued me, and I've never understood the near-sacred status the films have achieved.

Jedi as a religion is silly, I admit that, but why ban a guy for it!?
If I was a store owner I would gladly serve a nut-job who thinks he's a jedi knight!
That would be so awesome!
