For those still on the fence, I can heartily recommend the DLC. It's still got some problems, and even though the clone thing is played for laughs, it's still kinda stupid. This DLC is literally all the good parts of the Mass Effect series summed up.

Well since you aren't going to play it, I will let you know that at one point your Shepard taunts the clone by saying, "Even Conrad Verner makes a better Shepard than you!" I thought it was funny anyway.

If he had snapped though? Now THAT would have been an ending.
My main Shepard looks exactly like Conrad Verner... it made him much more...creepy in the first game, i thought for sure he was going to try and steal my identity or something else that was sinister.

anyway, the DLC is a hell of a lot of fun. its mostly humor but has some really touching moments, i romanced jack on the shep i went through it with, and her extra romance scenes were quite touching.

i also feel the need to point out that the stuff with the clone takes up maybe the first half of the time of the DLC the other half is nothing but character interaction. and it felt good, it FELT like i was at a party with a bunch of my close friends, it FELT real.

I loved every damn bit of this DLC, granted it was mostly goofball insanity but hey... it was much better than the bitter gloominess that permeated The Omega DLC and Clone Shep is a pretty hilarious villain all things considered with his/her mustache twirling, "Get them you fools!" villainy. Also for those wondering... Clone Shep does have the same face as your character.

Meh, I didn't mind that much. Yeah, an evil clone Shepard was dumb, but I didn't mind too much. I thought the ending was pulled off well and it was nice to have Wrex as a squad mate. I guess if I had a problem, it's that $14.99 was too expensive. $9.99 would be better.

Forget the clone!

Look at this example of illusion of choice!

1. Player selects to save th clone. Clone dies.
2. Player selects to kill the clone. Clone dies.

Where's the meaningful choices in that?!

Spent the last 1,5 hours watching the dlc stuff on youtube, gotta say they've made the right choice for the tone with this dlc.Possibly the best send off they could make for the trilogy (bar remaking the whole ending:p).
THIS is how you do an ending! (in case the link doesnt work, just fast forward to 2:47 in the vid)

On a side note,I absolutely love the soundtrack in the DLCs,in fact I liked Sam Hullick's edited version more in the extended cut also. They did a great job without Jack Wall.

For a little encouragement...

I only skimmed that video, but I did catch the line "It's Sovereigns half-brother Sluggard!" Gold.

I have little interest in the other DLC, but after seeing the feedback and some short clips I might pick this one up somewhere down the line. It looks like Bioware finally remembered why ME really appealed to people. A pity this sort of thing couldn't have been integrated into the actual story, and it sounds like it is a little too much of a good thing, but I guess we can just pretend the ending never happened and settle for this. It looks like a better stopgap then I had dared hope for, that's for sure.

What were they gonna do, up the stakes higher than the previous finale?

... Holy crap... I think I'll reinstall the entire trilogy AND buy this DLC, just to witness this scene with my own Shepard, shitty ending or not :D

You'd be surprised how often people fail to realize how much characterization can go into what people -try- to do rather than just the outcome. Suppose you're reading a pulpy novel. Blake and Cynthia both are being chased by the Generalissimo's private guards when they see their friend Zach's helicopter hovering low up ahead. They're saved! Then the helicopter is shot up and spirals in. Shortly afterward, the helicopter explodes and then Zach is deader than dead.

Scenario 1:
Blake screams that they have to save Zach. Cynthia cooly replies there's no chance; whoever shot down the helicopter is sure to be able to see where it lands and take them out. Cynthia then pops the magazine out of her MP-5, judges the weight of it, and realizes she's down to about half a magazine. She mutters, "Shit, we better keep going, Professor," and doesn't even turn to see the flaming wreck explode in a fireball.

Scenario 2:
Blake jumps down and slides along the scree downhill, ignoring the pain in his broken forearm as he struggles to save Zach. Cynthia stops at the top of the hill, unable to decide what to do. She saw Blake running desperately for the helicopter, but she was paralyzed with indecision. Blake shields his face from the blast when the helicopter goes up, but Cynthia falls to her knees. She felt utterly defeated.

Scenario 3:
Blake stares at the impact and says, "Well, we're going to need another ride, but it looks like the Generalissimo did us a favor and got rid of your husband for us." He glanced back at Cynthia and smirked. "Come on. We'll get to the boat. Then we take down the Generalissimo and our plan is complete." Cynthia raised her optics to her face and could not hide a smirk of satisfaction when the chopper exploded.

Same result. Very different characters. And that was from me farting out three completely liminal characters. But there is a massive difference from the badass Cynthia who checks her weapon, the crushed Cynthia who falls to her knees, and the smirking Cynthia who is glad her husband is dead.

The Shepard who decides to try to save the Clone is a very different individual from the Shepard who simply kills the Clone, even if the end result is the same. The soldier who risks his life for a friend who dies anyway is a different soldier than the one who panics, even if the result is the same.

It's silly, but it works out OK. That's really not even the focus of this DLC, though. If Leviathan was the Lore Dump DLC and Omega was the Combat Gallery DLC, then Citadel is the Character DLC. It's filled with all these little moments that enrich the experience. There is a ton of humor. It makes me forget about all the drama and just enjoy Mass Effect again.

Seems like I'm in the minority for finding the humour in the actual mission to be... well... poorly conceived and poorly written? Seriously, the whole Shep vs CloneShep thing was just painful for me. Worse than that, if you think about where this mission is set in the timeline of the game it's absolutely horrible for the pacing - it makes it go tension, tension, tension, THREE HOURS OF INCONGRUOUS DODGY SLAPSTICK, tension, massive downer. It would've been great if the game had a happy-Hollywood ending and this was post-ending content... but it doesn't and this isn't.

Putting that aside though, I'm only just starting to scratch the surface of the post-mission stuff though, and there's already been some solid-spun gold material in that. The turian in the arcade whose answer to everything is "tech armour" for example :p

To those who are asking if it's worth it I'd say yes, but only if you're prepared not to think about it too hard.

I... kinda liked it.

Seriously, if they had made the entire series this campy it probably would've turned out a better ending.

Of course, it'd be a completely different series, then.

Citadel is an amazing piece of DLC. So much fun to play, a true love letter to the fans of Mass Effect.

Also, I really want evil Shepherds armor.
