Poll: To all PS3 owners and fans

There is no official face the Sony and the PS3. Nor was there one for the PS2 or the PS1. That is the beauty of the PlayStation brand. It has no face and covers all genres.

I suppose the 360 qualifies in this respect but Microsoft makes more of a concerted effort to make Halo or Gears their official mascot.

So very true. I've tried arguing with my friends about this, that the consoles are pretty much equal (although I think the Ps3 is better single player and the 360 multi). But I always get hit with my friend using his most condescending tone:

"But Michael, really, we have Halo. We win."

That is the saddest arguement I have ever heard, because he refuses to even consider that the Ps3 exclusives can be any good. Here is my latest conversation:

(me) "You don't think that just a few of the Ps3 exclusives match Halo?"
(him) "Let's see, hmm, LBP and Ratchet and Clank? You have baby games. No real games."
(me) "Resistance and Killzone."
(him) "Nobody wants them! They suck compared to Halo."
(me) "Who says?"
(him) "The millions of people playing Halo online every day."

Now I don't personally think addiction qualifies as an argument, but there you go.

Well,that's just sad. I heard Resistance and Killzone 2 can rival Halo and Gears of War in multiplayer department. Your friend is kind of a jerk.

And if someone considers Ratchet and Clank a "baby game",you should show them RYNO-4-EVER in action. Maybe they'll change their mind.

I hope you realize that every MGS game has been ported to Xbox or PC, even gamecube it's only exclusive for so long before it hops to the next system.

As much of a nerd as I'll feel like after doing this. MGS3 was never ported, neither was MGS4. Of course you could use pcsx 20.9.5 to put it on your pc(you'd need the ps2 bios though, good luck getting them).

Not saying your point is completely invalid, just those two facts were missed. Which could be considered a big deal since they were the two most recent titles, but then again, rising is coming out. Of course rising wont feature snake, so SNAKE could be the face of the ps3 I suppose. I still side with drake though.

Are you talking about the KZ2 single player, because then I would agree with you. However, MGS4 does not suck(could you provide some reasons as to why you say it sucks?), MGO does though. Resistance:FoM was good, Resistance 2 was....yeah.

But you didn't set facts straight, you skipped two whole games and made one giant sweeping generalization. If you wanted facts to be straight you would have to say that the first to MGS's were only timed exclusives and the last two were full exclusives.

Edit: also, if you weren't relating to the op then wasn't this just practice in Derailing?

for me its resistance when i was first buying my ps3 i asked for a copy of gta4 but the store was out so i got resistance fall of man instead those games made me proud to own a ps3

You continue arguing a strange fact which I am confused by, if half the series isn't an exclusive to the series of Playstation consoles, it isn't an exclusive title like God of War which has been ONLY on Playstation. Yes MGS3 is a PS2 exclusive, the series is not exclusive to Sony/Playstation consoles is all I'm saying. Take it how you want but MGS isn't a sony exclusive. So again, the SERIES is not exclusive, I'm not sure if I said something that threw you off or whatever. I meant the series as a whole, not specific games, heck the they had a GBC game.

Disgaea is a fantastic turn based strat game with the most unique of ideas such as going into your weapons/armor/items/etc to go through battles to level it up, topped off only by the armor names or the descriptions for. For instance in disgaea 1 you can get a 'horse wiener' as an accessory. Totally crazy and awesome and certainly has character, not the prettiest game on the PS3 but it's certainly fun.

I'm going to have to go with God of War 3's Kratos, even though the game isn't out yet I have no doubt that its going to be badass and possibly greater than previous two were. Since God of War has always been developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, Kratos will not cross platforms.

About MGS being the face of the Playstation 3, I'll put it this way. Snake is the face of the Playstation 3. Feel better? MGS:R is just with Raiden.

But that's ridiculous to me because the Playstation hasn't really had any specific mascot for it, someone can say Kratos, while another can say Jak. And that's what makes it cool to me, it's not pushing one specific image in your face, it has a full list of great characters going for it rather than just one genetically enhanced, green Power Ranger.

The same can be said for Nintendo, I guess.
Samus, Link, Mario, Pikachu, etc.

EDIT: Hmmm... but to answer your question, I guess I'd say Kratos can single-handedly pull the big black monster this generation and have his face slapped onto the face of the Playstation. Provided that he's... y'know, the Greek god of war.

Screw you! MGS series has been a face for the Playstation as a whole, but with it's port to Xbox, it's hardly worth being the "Face" of the PS3. Resistance, a core PS3 exclusive, it's much more deserving! If anything take out a dumb game, like Rachet and clank.

Your right, the series as a whole isn't exclusive, but that didn't seem to be how you worded it. I felt that it was necessary to put those facts out into the air to remind people that, as of late(about the past 5 years), new MGS games have been exclusive to playstation. I'm not trying to be agitating, I'm just stating that you overlooked a few things.

Disgaea is most certainly a great game, it definitely doesn't get the exposure it deserves. Who knows, if they made Disgaea the face of the PS3 it could do stunningly well(and give sony a drastically different appearance).

Nah, I just call myself that 'cos they're my favourate devs, I don't blindly follow them and shower them with love etc. Hell, I very nearly ended up selling R&CFTOD after the first level was soooo easy and bad.
EDIT Also, as good as Resistance is it isn't face worthy. Ape Escape would be my runner up Why haven't they made another Ape Escape game yet!?
