Poll: To all PS3 owners and fans

This may be because I'm a crazy otaku living the middle of the American Southwest who's hung out in the 112 degree heat a little too long, but good lord, this game is kickass! There should be more games like that one.

Mirror's Edge, inFamous, H.A.W.X., Uncharted, and BlazBlue also deserve mention here.

Did you read this before posting? Mirror's Edge, H.A.W.X. and BlazBlue are cross platform so they don't count, also there are posts citing Uncharted and inFamous as the possible "face" of PS3.

I did enjoy Valkyria Chronicles and I think it's a great game but sadly Valkyria Chronicles went mostly unnoticed by the majority of people.

I'd say for the face, it'll be LittleBigPlanet, as Sackboy is a cute, friendly etc. mascot; but for my favourite it has to be the Ratchet and Clank series.

I don't really have a justifiable reason for buying a PS3 other than free online multiplayer, better hardware and durability. Other than my PsP it's the only console I own now and I've only had it for a few months.

Before however I had a 360 and a Wii that I hardly ever used. I ended up selling my Wii since the tires on my car were bald and I wasn't about to pull 400 bucks out of my ass. I sold the 360 out of a recurring fear that the red ring problem may come back and kill it permanently. So here I am with the bulkiest of the three, and I'm pretty satisfied with it so far.

There is no official face the Sony and the PS3. Nor was there one for the PS2 or the PS1. That is the beauty of the PlayStation brand. It has no face and covers all genres.

I suppose the 360 qualifies in this respect but Microsoft makes more of a concerted effort to make Halo or Gears their official mascot.

So very true. I've tried arguing with my friends about this, that the consoles are pretty much equal (although I think the Ps3 is better single player and the 360 multi). But I always get hit with my friend using his most condescending tone:

"But Michael, really, we have Halo. We win."

That is the saddest arguement I have ever heard, because he refuses to even consider that the Ps3 exclusives can be any good. Here is my latest conversation:

(me) "You don't think that just a few of the Ps3 exclusives match Halo?"
(him) "Let's see, hmm, LBP and Ratchet and Clank? You have baby games. No real games."
(me) "Resistance and Killzone."
(him) "Nobody wants them! They suck compared to Halo."
(me) "Who says?"
(him) "The millions of people playing Halo online every day."

Now I don't personally think addiction qualifies as an argument, but there you go.

Well,that's just sad. I heard Resistance and Killzone 2 can rival Halo and Gears of War in multiplayer department. Your friend is kind of a jerk.

And if someone considers Ratchet and Clank a "baby game",you should show them RYNO-4-EVER in action. Maybe they'll change their mind.

I am in a tie between MGS4, because its a grand finale of a serie traditionally asociated with Sony; or LittleBigPlanet, because if there is a character that should be Sony's mascot for this generation is the sackboy...

I will go with LBP, at least they have a lot of originality and personality...

Honestly I'd say all of the games listed there are good reasons to get the console, it was MGS 4 which made me want/get it but I stayed interested due to games like Resistance, LBP, Uncharted, etc. BTW fogmike your friend sounds like an absolute tool, to even consider Halo as the 360s main selling point is just laughable, hell, to consider just one game as the 360s main selling point is facepalm worthy. Don't worry people this isn't a fanboy comment, I own both consoles and like both the same, it just annoys me when people say things like Halo is the best reason to own a 360 when it has loads of other, better exclusives.

R&C, inFAMOUS, Resistance, PSN, and, when it comes out, God of War 3, will be the titles I immediately hit up for the PS3. Still waiting though.

It's very hard for me to decide on one game but, between MGS4, Killzone 2, LBP and inFamous I had to go with LBP. MGS is and has always been directly linked with Sony and their consoles but LBP is a "new face" that ever since it's launch has been receiving content, features and user created levels, having reached the Million mark the game got even more spotlight time. So our big headed sack person seems to be the flagship commander.

None I dont argue over my PS3 period if thats the way a conversation goes I already know im dealing with some dim witted clod so rather I go and do something constructive. What game do I personaly attatch to the playstation brand however? Final Fantasy (yes nintendo had it first) but the ps streamlined it and brought it into the mainstream.

Metal Gear Solid 4.

until God Of War 3, The Last Guardian and Heavy Rain come out, that will be the only reason I would consider buying a Ps3.

To be honest? The most fun I had out of my PS3 was Ratchet and Clank... although my roommate wrings a lot of love from MGS4, I was unable to sit through the cutscenes without feeling like I needed was play MST3K with my craptastic Snake impersonation.
