He's clearly upset that the Soviet Union made things hard in his country, and apparently blames the US for allowing them to do it.

It's not like Romania has done anything super, awesome, great in the last 30 years.

Y'know, everything that every one of these countries has done, if it hadn't been done by them, would've been done by someone else anyways. The US invented the automobile, but you can be certain that if they hadn't, someone else would have. Great Britain created its world-spanning empire and basically ruined most of Africa, India and its neighbors as a result. If they hadn't done that though, you could be certain France would have, and instead of speaking awesome English we would be speaking silly French. Can you imagine Indians speaking French fluently?

Is it possible to blame Britain for creating the United States as a result of their government's actions? Because it would seem to be that America is the most "negative".

Then again, we're not entirely sure on the terms for what constitutes "negative".

I personally think a little strife builds character for future generations. If it weren't for Nazi Germany we wouldn't have alot of things we have today. (Or at least they'd come much later.)

I'm just gonna go for America.

It's not the people. when I went there, everyone was nice, friendly, and they seem to like the english accent which is cool :D

I just don't like how the country itself is effectively a "bully"

I don't understand how you can say that the US has had a larger negative impact on the world throughout history then Britain has. Yes, the US has a terrible track record of middle-east foreign policy, but the reason that region is so screwed up to begin with is because of British imperialism.

Russia, look at the mess that the eastern European states and Russia fell into after the fall of communism
This. I hate living in a post-Soviet country. I mean, we have it a bit better than those next to Russia, but still it's not as good as in, for instance, Germany or France.
At least you don't have it as bad as the Balkans.
Most of them could have pulled a Czech and just divided peacefully, but instead it had to dissolve into a massive genocidal bloodbath.
Really? Most of the Warsaw was bombed. We barely have anything 100+ years old there. Because most of the buildings have been damaged, most of the art destroyed or burned.
Now that's something that escaped the curriculum... I had no idea.
Well, I knew that like in East Germany, the Soviets didn't bother to rebuild whereas if you hopped the wall it could look good as new.

The lead the US has surprises me, given how vocal and numerous the anti-Ruskies have been.

Also, whoever voted Italy should be crucified. They gave us the Rome, which spawned Caesar. That automatically wins any sort of contest you're throwing (except for this one considering 'winning' would actually be 'losing.')

Now, for my vote... Australia. Those dingo loving bastards can go choke on a kiwi for all I care.

There wouldn't be Romans without the Greeks (or at least that's what my fevered grasp of history tells me).
And there wouldn't be Greeks without... um... let's just say the blame for all the bad stuff in the world rests solely on whichever ape decided to climb down from the tree first.

I find it interesting that all the people who blame America for the world's problems say the exact same thing.
Seriously, if one country hadn't done something, it's almost guaranteed that another country would've instead.

How about blaming Ethiopia for the first domestication of wheat? They did domesticate wheat right? If it wasn't for that, farming might not have started in Iraq. And then humans wouldn't have become as numerous as they are today.

France for producing french people.

but in all seriousness i would probably say Germany if youre including nazi germany, which ravaged most of Europe.

If youre counting Rome for Italy than one could probably make a case for that.

Great Britain was a fairly destructive Empire with quite a few tyrant kings but this is all before the industrial revolution for the most part?now theyre awesome.

Africa and its associated states are a total mess with blood diamonds, drug lords, somalian pirates, etc. but there is no specific government to blame for that as those are all criminal organizations that arent supported by their government.

Sure and China and Russia were pretty bad but most of that was them slaughtering their own people (China more so than Russia) so it wasnt a negative impact on the world as much as it was on themselves. To be fair, Russia was fairly imperialistic at some points in ways that China wasnt

Then theres the United States. While they have certainly have good intentions, theyre far from perfect. The USA has a tendency of invading other countries for faulty national security threats (Vietnam, Iraq, arguably Cuba, etc.)

These are the countries on your list I would put as the most destructive to the world.

I'm interested in which country people think has been the most detrimental to the world at large. Seeing that there are only eight options on any given poll I've had to cut back on the options available, but I've tried to hit most of the main players.

If you have any other ideas for countries that should be included, please to let everyone know. If you want to discuss or debate the voting, please do so.
I demand to see the Sand Countries listed!

One question to everyone did actually vote for America:

How has America, in the last 70-100 years (before that we were basically completely self-contained) had more of a negative impact than the centuries of existence of the vast majority of Europe? The US is responsible for some rather major faux pas in recent times, especially with regards to Iraq, but that doesn't even begin to compare to how much the rest of the world has been fucked by other countries.
well we rightly accuse the Nazis for what they did to the jews,

but if you think about it, they basically did what the americans did to the native americans (wipe them off the face of the earth, or at least try) and if it's 1 single nation/race that could never be accused of doing evil in this world it's the native americans, who actually respected the earth and only took what they needed it from it.

And let's not forget while Nazi=absolute evil in movie/comic/game media the cowboys who killed and raped so many native americans, have been turned to heroes and cool guys

The sad thing about this is that the damage they do mostly isnt to the world but to themselves

Soviet Union. I'm way too tired to write all the reasons but anyway: killed millions, caused the deaths of millions and made the lives of millions of people much more worse. Then there's the thing with helping the communist revolution in China.
