Read the book Tuck Everlasting, and you will come to agree with my decision to refuse eternal life.

Death is but another adventure...without it, there is no living.

Since I've just started reading through all 10 of Ann Rice's Vampire Chronicles books at the mo
(Just at the end of Queen of the Damned right now)

Yes I would love to be immortal. I would be like Marius and educate myself about the working of the world. (Kind of what I do now, but immortality would let me learn far more! There's too much that I want to see and do)

Only if Sean Connery would say to me "You're immortal, MacCleod."

But seriously. No. And if you people are talking about "angels" and not "angles" then that is enough proof of god for me to start believing. I'm going to hell the way I behave. Why would I spend enternity on earth when I could spend it up in heaven, chilling with god asking him why Rosie O' Donnel had to exist.

But if of course I am granted eternal life by some other being than an angel. Then I'd still say no. What do people think is so bad about the sudden end of consciousness? A bit of pain, and then, sleep. And I'm glad that I don't have to live in a world ruled by technology. Of course todays world is sort of, but robots, that's not my thing. It's just another way for the human race to destroy itself, and I don't wanna be around for that shit. Oh no. If I have some kids who make it to 18 without fucking up too bad, that's it. Immortality can go fuck itself. I'm done on this planet once I hit 80.

So superhero thing for a while, maybe longterm investments, learn all languages. Go by the name Captain Invincible!!! or something. Then as the brutal truth comes all to clear as those I love have grown old and die I'd likely turn my focus in a more emperor/Dick Cheney kind of direction.

I would refuse, death is too important to get rid of in your life. After all how can you truly be alive when you can't die?
However, if said angel also offered me something like 500 years of life, in which I wouldn't age, I would definitely take it. It means that the things you'll do will still have meaning in your life as a whole, but it would really stretch out this amazing experience called life.

No. It would be boring as hell. Not to mention that it would totally suck to keep living long after anyone you ever cared about died.

I want to see how humans would progress through the ages, also, if the Human race were suddenly wiped out, it would be cool to be the last human alive. Don't worry, I have my imaginary friend, George.

Eternal life would be interesting. Aside from all things I would see that happens on Earth, eventually when technology allows us to travel the stars with ease and find other life. I would travel to other worlds\cultures and learn as much as I can.

I'd like the type of eternal life they have in Baccano!, where injuries heal automatically after just a little while.
While it's logical that it could possibly be the worst thing ever, right now my feelings are "FUCK YEAH, ETERNAL LIFE". So if you asked me today, I'd go for it, if I get to stay 26, that is. I don't want to live eternally as 80+.

It would be terrible because all the people I love right now would be gone so quickly after the first 100 years. I'm sorry, but I'm going to say no just because I don't need to live forever to be happy. Could I redeem this awesome cosmic gift for something else?

Eternal life would have no meaning, I agree that at first it would be really cool but I would outlive my girlfriend, my friends, my family, my life and probably my sanity, and I would have to bury them all. Sure I could start again but it would all come around again, I'd bury another girlfriend/wife, more friends, more family, hell even my own children (If i have any) and that's a lot of pain and misery. I'd probably go nuts, and despise myself, taking it out on humanity and travel the world killing everyone to end it all. Then there would just be me, alone, in the empty ruins of this world.

a cheery thought no?

I would take it because I could guide plans throughout the ages. I would be able to keep men's hearts awake and alert to evil. One could be such a force for good when you could see plans out that last generations. It would be like being Gandalf. I loose people I loved but as they passed I'd make new loved ones. The ability to help all of man in such a way would be too great a chance to pass up just because I wanted to spare myself some heartache.

Absolutely, and for one big reason; I'm absolutely terrified that I may leave this mortal coil having never accomplished much, at least with immortality I can't worry about wasting time.

And when I finally feel fulfilled, I'll take my own life by flying into the sun (I'm already immortal, so I may as well have the power of flight too).

no because at some point or another you are going to be floating through space unable to breath and that would suck monkey nuts.

edit: also if an angel comes down that means there is a heaven and heaven is way better than earth/the universe.

I would like to see the evolution of humanity and what we are like in a few 1000 years. However living forever means out liven everyone else. You can't die but your friends and family can, which means complete loneliness.

So no I wouldn't like to live forever.

I'd only do it if I got to be an Immortal from Highlander. Which means I wouldn't be absolutely immortal, but close enough. That and I would carry around a boom box loaded with Queen songs... Plus I'd get to chop off heads and duel mortals while drunk...
