Kinda liked MW, strongly dislike MW2 (barring co-op missions ... they're a blast) ... Disliked W@W with exception of Nazi Zombies .... much cooler than L4D's survival mode.

But to give a serious answer ..... I don't know why I dislike MW2 as much as I do ... I just feel like the franchise has given us all it can and maybe new IPs would atleast alleviate the stagnation.

I also strongly dislike the map packs for MW2 ... just .... just wrong. I understand that companies exist to make profit. I can forgive companies for looking out for it's stockholders ... but that doesn't mean I can remove myself from proper business ethics to say that the map packs were an immoral act that could only have damaged videogaming consumers in the long term.

This bnusiness model is goiing to groiw if only because of the success of MW2 and the subsequent 'slave buying' effect of the map packs due to it's multiplayer fanbase.

I've only played the multiplayer, so my opinions are largely based upon that. My annoyances are as follows. Why do killstreaks give clearly good players advantages over those they're beating? All that's going to do it frustrate worse players. Secondly, why do I need to hold a button to aim? Couldn't the game decide how good my aiming will be based upon the speed I was moving? It feels clunky and unintuitive to me. Finally throwing knives are not powerful weapons, yet I found my throwing knife against an automatic shotgun in close quarters had my opponent doubting his ability to come out on top.

The same reason I dislike most modern games:

1. I'm not a big fan of shooters
2. If I want to play a shooter I don't want a story, I want to shoot things.
3. I hate war games.
4. I hate realistically brown/grey games.

I'll stick with my PS2, I still have plenty of good games on there.

I just don't like any FPS's that require you to hold down L3 to sprint. I'm afraid I might break that little stick.

It's a stupid, yet fun, multiplayer game. Do you need to mute your mics when not playing with just friends? Ofcourse. Are you going to get made at cheap things others do? Hell yea! Is it still fun, and addicting? In my opinion, yes. And sometimes you even get lucky and one will have a good campaign!

I hate it for its obnoxious popularity and the No Russian mission. It's also infected my big brother with a severe case of addiction, I swear it's the only fucking game he ever plays now.

People "hate" CoD because it's popular, and the more popular something is the more vocally people make sure to let you know they're not suckered in like all those other fools.

I don't hate the franchise, I just hate the last game, MW2.

It could have been a great game that's a lot of fun, but some extremely poor design decisions, and a complete refusal by the developer to fix many glitches, hacks, or exploits in the game render it one of the most frustrating gaming experiences I've ever had.
Beat me too it. I was sort of disappointed when the poll didn't say which game he was actually talking about. I like World at War, Call of Duty 4 was pretty good, and I think Call of Duty 2 is pretty good too. There is just so much imbalance in MW2.

My guidelines for MW2:
1.If someone is using the UMP, they are evil.
2.The perks are unbalanced.
3.The guns are pretty unbalanced.
4.Unless you can quick scope, sniping is very underpowered as fully automatic assault rifles can shoot at the distance a sniper can effectively and still kill easily.
5.The players are normally tools
6.Kill Streaks are overpowered.

I find the series boring to be honest. Don't get me wrong though, they're well made games.
It's just that when I play games, I want to take a break from reality, so to speak.
Call of Duty's portrayal of gritty "Modern warfare" doesn't interest me at all.

Don't hate the franchise. I loved each game up until MW1 which I really enjoyed for about 2 months at which point it became tired and repetative, the DLC and general support for the title made me dispise IW.

WaW was fantastic, I genuinely love the game, zombie mode being a big part of this. Awesome DLC and support for the game (Treyarch actually listening to their customers wants) was a breath of fresh air, the game stank of hard work and commitment to making the game the best it could be.

MW2 was fun for about 3 weeks. Bland, repetative, throw-away disposeable gameplay that could basically have been called Halo 4 : modern combat. Terrible DLC and terrible prices and unforgivable community support (the community blatently wanting a zombie style mode but IW's ego being such that they would never do something that their supposedly little brother Treyarch came up with). The game stank of rushed, shoddy workmanship and cash grabbing, I mean the single player was what 4 hours? MW2 might as well have been released as a DLC for MW1

Black Ops will I think be just as great as WaW I could be wrong but I dont think so.

Thankfully IW have been ripped apart so the ego factor may have been taken out and the COD following black ops may have effort, time, love and attention spent on it. If not it will be the same and the people who left IW for the new EA company will make a game that made MW1 so successful.
Well, God damn, right? I was looking to say pretty much the exact thing. Except with better spelling, and punctuation, and all that jazz. But the talkie part was, for the most part, exactly what I would've said. I still play MW1MP, I never really got into WaWMP, and I still try to play MW2MP occasionally, as much as it and it's inhabitants curb-stomp me. Single player was fun a few times through, on all occasions, and Nazi Zombies, and CoD4MP still get a lot of playtime, but for the most part, MW2 was complete shite. It was genuinely good, what was there, as far as singleplayer, and the Spec Ops missions, which I love that kind of special missions, was concerned, but it was just a little lacking. Short.
Don't even get me started on multiplayer. I could write an effing novel full of suggestions and complaints. Suggestions on new content, and how to make good, intuitive use of content there, noting major issues that need to be fixed, both from getting my ass kicked by them view, and proverbially raping my enemies point of view, and stuff like that.

Hopefully the people who, ironically, didn't even MAKE the series, but still did better with the series, will make a much better multiplayer and singleplayer, just like they did with WaW.

And hey, if we're wishing for ponies, I might as well wish for a thoroughbred: Maybe BO will have a zombie mode, just like WaW did; given it's being made by Treyarch, the same people who brought us Nazi Zombies.

1. Meh, UMP never bothered me a lot and I used to play a lot (live expired :()
2. Only perks that was unbalanced for me was commando, marathon and lightweight and even then I could kill them relatively easily
3. I don't get what people mean by this, I've tried every gun and been killed by every gun, I don't find the guns unbalanced, neither do my friends (except the Deagle that sucks). Only unbalanced part I can think of is the infinite range of all guns including SMGs
4. Sniping isn't underpowered, even if they don't quickscope they can be very impacting on the game
5. ...Well yeah but thats what happens with a lot of popular games
6. Personally I don't find them overpowered since they never killed me that much

Main reason I find people hate MW2 is one of these: a) they're just bad at the multiplayer and blame the game for that b) the community which I can kind of understand c) they don't like multiplayer and the campaign was short and bland which I can also understand d) its popular therefore I must hate it to seem superior

Perfect game? Hell no
Fun? Yup
Bland story, boring characters (except Ghost his voice made me love him like a brother) and short campaign that didn't really make much sense? Yes

I just don't see what most people complain about

I don't like it because of the principles that went into the game. It definatly didnt deserve the praise it got, and because of that every shooter on the planet is trying to be like Modern Warfare which, for me at least, is a bad thing. Lets look at the series. COD1 old game that was respectable and fairly good. COD2 Incoherant story that more or less worked. Solid but sort of bland multiplayer. COD3 Average coated in average sauce with Average for sides. COD4 Short but very fun singleplayer. Somewhat unbalenced Multiplayer. COD5 Below average game thats only redeeming quality was Nazi zombies which Ill admit was fun, but trumped by L4d and Killing Floor. MW2 Extremely short Singleplayer that is slightly ridiculous yet fun. Multiplayer Unbalenced as sh** removal of dedicated servers, shitty host migration and only fun for the 5 seconds when you finally get a kill without being spawn killed, grenade spamed, noob tubed, 20 foot knifed, or chopper gunnered. Co-op was fun though.

I don't hate it, but I don't feel as though newer Call of Duty titles deserve such reverence. CoD 4: Modern Warfare was amazing, yes. W@W and MW2 were generic reskins and re-releases CoD 4 and were successful, but only due to the amount of hype surrounding recent publishing history. They failed to actually recreate what made CoD 4 brilliant - the innovation and freshness of the game.

Of course I'll still look on at Black Ops, hoping for that glimpse of heartfelt game design. But I just don't see it happening.

It's a subpar FPS.

That point isn't up for argument. It is a FACT. Modern Warfare 2 is a STEP BACK for the genre as a whole.

I'll start with the single player. The plot is so simple minded and cliche-ridden it's insulting to anyone with an IQ one or more standard deviations above the mean. No Russian is basically the high-point, but that's it. Gameplay-wise, it's the same level-by-level, checkpoint after check point system that, for me, got tired five years ago.

Multiplayer? Complete Gong-Show. Dear game studios, can you PLEASE stop trying to shoehorn RPG-style leveling systems into your games? What was once a theater built on displays of pure skill has now been morphed in something vaguely resembling an MMORPG.

But once you get past that, there's how schizophrenic the multiplayer experience seems. The presence of iron-sights and the ability to crouch and go prone suggests the careful, delicate style of Battlefield 2, but the actual experience feels more like a fast-action FPS in the vain of TF2, Quake or UT. Oddly, I would rather play all three of those games over MW2.

Also, no dedicated servers, no mods, no map-making software. Why? Because if they did include those features, they wouldn't be able to charge $15 for new (and old) maps!

There are so many better FPSs out there. They might not have had the $200 Million marketing budget MW2 had, but they do have what matters...

Love it!! Always have.

But sadly people make it seem so bad. It's really not a bad game no matter what other people may think. It's enjoyable and that's all you need to look for in a game. Some people like it and others don't. Doesn't mean it's horrible

It's cool to hate popular things.

See Halo (every time it gets mentioned here... >.>), WoW, etc.

For some reason, video game players have a fascination with calling things overrated. If you look at music lovers or movie lovers, they generally either like a work or don't like it. They don't call it out as overrated if tons of other people like it (at least, in the crowds that I've seen. I could be wrong here, though).

Call of Duty's a good game. It's not my favorite, but I enjoy it. Am I going to jump on its case? No. In another example, there's WoW. Not my style of game. So, instead of whining about how popular it is, I ignore it.
