I'm reading the escapist forum since ~2007 and rarely post. I don't make friens over internet forums, because, personally, I see no reason to as long as you go to school and have friends you can talk to. If I'd vanish right now and never come back to the Escapist, nobody would miss me here, nobody would be happy and nobody would wonder where I went.
I try to treat everyone politely, disregarding the post count, and I expect the same in return. Nothing more, nothing less.

No, but those with larger post counts show that they've been here longer and are generally more noticeable posters. For example, in whatever thread I enter (when i read who's posted before me) I always see HUBILUB (yes, i will continue to spell his name like that) or Furburt with a comment.

Pretty much every time I feel like posting something I ask myself "do you really think it matters/anyone cares" and in say, 2 out of 3 times I end up not posting. How/why people end up with those high posts it's a mystery to me.

I tend to remember users with top post counts better for some reason, but that doesn't mean I idolize them. I've seen enough intelligent/useful posts by users with low double-digit counts to keep an open mind on this.

Whaddya mean? I don't get idolized! At what post count do I get idolized?!?! Is it 3000? 'Cause this is my 3000th post and I have yet to get blind followers of any kind.
I can blindly follow you if you want.
I need something to do with my spare time anyway.
Sweet! Can you do my laundry for me? I'm waaay too lazy to do it right now.

Because I'm awesome.

I'm already thinking about what to write for my 6000th post. Or 6666 post.

Whoa!
I said follow you blindly, not do your chores for you. I'm your stalker, not a butler.

Aww... well, can you at least leave mints on my pillow or something when I leave the house? Preferably the green ones (although I like the red and white ones as well).

They may have more friends because they have many posts, meaning that they have been seen more often than others, as well as the fact that having many posts means that the odds are they have made a couple of great posts.

Because they have a big number next to their posts.

More seriously, though, because they're seen more and may contribute more to the community. Of course, the posts themselves matter more with that. As for me, I notice them, but don't necessarily respect or worship them (quite a few gone gonzo's I dislike, actually).

Seriously? If I want to know whether or not I should take someone seriously, I'll look at the date they joined.
But really, too many people will immediately join a forum (it happens everywhere) and just post and post and post without much meaning on what they say.
Either that or they'll make a controversial thread to get badges.

So no, I don't admire people for their post count. I will give a nod to a person who makes an smart post.

Beyond the 100 mark it doesn't matter much, but a poor topic from someone new is more suspicious than an equally bad rant from an old hand.
An intelligent post doesn't need a post count.

Well, they're pretty much the voice of the sight, if you get my drift. I mean, I see Furburt in pretty much every thread. But yeah, like, they're all dicks, right.

That should be "a smart post"

and I agree I tend to look more at join dates than anything. Post count means hardly anything to me (If it did I would post as often as I could to join the ranks of the high posters)

I wouldn't think so, It's just a number after all.
Also I'm going to make sure not one of my posts are from the forum games section.
NONE OF THEM :3
