I personally beleive that Square should remake FFVII. Yes it would cost alot, but considering they already have the story, basic outlines for models and scenes aswell as a basis for music, it wouldn't cost anywhere near as much as a brand new game! It would still bring in a shed load of cash for both Sony AND Square.

And hey, i'd rebuy the PS3 if this happened... Roll on the remake, and then remake 6 + 9 =D!

Whoa, what's with 50% not blaming sony? I get it, they were hacked, but severely lacking security in the first place. If I get my radio stolen from my car when the window is ever so slightly open, that's negligence and my insurance won't pay.
Ah well, let's see what they come up with once the PSN comes back to life, and if they've learned from their errors.

Sony will be forgiven by me. After all, it's not their fault that they got hacked. That can happen to anyone.

As for a remake of Final Fantasy VII, I just want to say, why not VI or IX? Those games where so much better than VII. Don't get me wrong, VII is great. It had nice graphic and awesome music, but it could've been better. VI and IX had what VII didn't. They had better story, better developed characters (which also where more interesting to use, sicne they actually had different skills to use (like rage and sword techs.) and also, VII is overrated. VI and IX is overshadowed by this game, more or less. Bottomline, a remake of VII would be great, but a remake of VI and/or IX would be even awesomener (new word).

PS: FLAMESHIELD UP!
Thank you for saying it. I love FF 7 but 6 and 9 had better story's in my opinion. And remember if you do not agree then you hate ViVi. And if you hate ViVi you are going to hell!
I never said I hate or disslike Vivi. He is one of the best characters in the game, I mean come on, return magic? How overpowerd are you allowed to be?

You're forgetting the vote that says "I don't blame Sony", but I'll forgive you.
GOD GOD GOD YES!! Do you know how many Sephiroth fanboys (I.E. Myself) Would squeal like little girls at the chance to experience FF7 in 1080i Resolution!?

.....I think I need to change my pants...
Good to see the whole 'not blaming Sony' thing is working out. 'Course, I wouldn't mind seeing the FF7 remake ANYWAY... I mean, be fair, brilliant game. My first RPG, actually.

No, it's not enough. Because, frankly I don't consider myself worthy of getting every gamer fantasy that pops into my head made real if all I say to earn it is "Then I shall forgive Sony."

Honestly, I'm only a consumer. I'm not that important to Sony, especially in a situation like this. They're more worried about getting their network done and avoiding the wrath of various governments and consumer advocates than shining me up a sweet ass reward for staying on their network after all this is over.

If you liked 9 then you loved ViVi. It is as simple as that. I was not suggesting that you did not like him, that message about going to hell was for anyone who read the post and did not agree with us.

I don't really understand why remaking Final Fantasy 7 would be considered a good thing?

Is it because it was the last objectively good game in the series and fans want to hold on to a time when Final Fantasy wasn't crap?
Subjectively good game. Fans saying 7 is the best is not automatically right. All opinion. I thought 6,9, 12 even 13 were better than 7.

No. That would be Squarenix doing that, not Sony.
Ditto that. Besides, Square Enix is having their own issues right now. They don't need to be dragged into this.

If Sony remade Final Fantasy VII i wouldn't forgive them, i'd curse their motherfucking existence until the day i die. Square Enix has only gotten worse and worse after they shat themselves inside out with the FFVII terrible writing angst brigade, and going back to remind people "WE [Square Enix] BROUGHT DOWN THE GOLDEN AGE OF GAMING ALONG WITH BUNGIE, AND IT STARTED WITH THIS GAME!" will only serve to aggrivate. How about you don't remake FFVII and give the money to Persona Team who actually have some ideas more interesting than "Angsty fucker wants to bring down an evil government agency he/she/it was once a part of" so we can restore the RPG genre instead of getting another Modern Warfare ripoff?

How can anyone NOT blame Sony? Sure it's not all there fault but it's not as if Sony are unaware there are people who can and will try to steal data by hacking.

Not having a go at anyone in particular, it's that (fanboys aside) I just don't get it.

what would make me forgive them is making star wars battlefront 2 available in the ps3 store, since those bastards didn't make the ps3 backwards compatible

Um...what has that got to do with "forgiving Sony"

Square Enix makes the games, not Sony.

You do know that...right?
Yes, but what if Enix released FF7 solely for the PS3, no other system. PS3 exclusive, with remade graphics and the voice cast from Advent Children. I mean, they got the ingredients set up why can't they just go ahead and put 'em all in a blow, mix it, and bake that *****.
Because do you realize how long that'd take?

Also why does everyone want a remake? Why? I hate how am called not a fan of the series because i dont think we need it. I honestly think am a bigger fan then most because theres no reason for a remake. I still have my two copies i still play em i still love it.

I say take that 4-6 years remaking it and turn that into a another movie maybe, another prequel hell maybe even a sequel those all are 50x better then a dam remake.

Seriously, screw remakes. The only reason there ever wanted is because of people who obsess over graphics or don't own a copy, all the true fans are fine with there game. Good lord i hate FF fans.

I think that woulld be up to square to remake FFVII. Although I did see on bbc website that Square Enix was hacked for customer info as well so maybe a remake would compensate for them getting hacked also.

I don't need THAT much to forgive Sony, but if playing guilty is what it takes for Squenix to do it, then I'll act like a spoiled child for months.

But in truth, no, I don't really blame Sony. Yes, they sorta "challenged" Anonymous when they said they were nothing but a minor annoyance (never, EVER challenge Anonymous), but still....

Devs don't just decide to remake games it's a bit more complicated that that, and no even if they remade it I won't forgive Sony for not telling us about the stolen info earlier.

Since Sony seemed so opposed to the idea of a new HD remake for the game [Final Fantasy 7] am sorta glad that this came up.

The Anon attacks certain is bad press and even though I am not a big PSN user at all, I'd be hugely impressed if they were to remake FF7 for the PS3. The only thing, which might sound hilarious in this day and age, is to not have voice acting.

Unless Square hired top talent for voice acting (and I mean Ron Pearlman as Cid, and MR. T as Barret [T probably would do it for a warm meal and a stay at the Holiday Inn]) I don't want a precious childhood memory crapped on by bad voice acting. As a whole though, I hardly blame Sony but I also hardly think it is Sony who can decide if Square remakes FF7, unless they help subsidize the project.

What exactly is Anonymous? Sounds like some kid that spends too much times at his 6 monitor set up that uses hacking sites as a form of trolling. What happened to papaer? Like recording customer info onto papaer than filing it away or placing it on closed servers that can only have access to the web if you flip on the wifi switch? Anonymous just sound like the League of extraordinary Bitches. Besides, are they that big a deal? It's not like their the SS, or the cyber SS, or a joint SWAT & Cyber SS.

FF 7 not so much, though I think if a remake were made now it would be cross-console. Sony and Square-Enix are no longer joined at the hip. Now if they did the superior in every way Final Fantasy VIII. That would be something.
