Yeah I'd play as a German footsoldier in WW2 but the only problem would be that about half way through the game you would start loosing.

The Outfit for the XBox360 resolved this question for me. I woulf, it's only a game after all.

Yeah I would, it'd be interesting to see how the developer handles that. I could see a game like that being accepted if it was about a German soldier who was against National Socialism, like in Valkyrie, except different story, maybe:
He is deployed as an infantryman to france(his best friend with him for dialogue) and ends up nearly dying; someone from the resistance finds him and nurses him back to health, and eventually he joins the resistance. He then goes on some dangerous mission to infiltrate something or other, and bumps in to his best friend, who decides to sound the alarm(because he's brainwashed). He kills his friend, but too late, and he rushes to do whatever it is he was doing, completes it and escapes.
I didn't mention a love story because that happens too often, but it'd be easy to do that too.

I could see a game about a Hitler Youth drafted to fight in the last stand at Berlin being fun to play. I enjoy games that force the player to occasionaly do things that are uncomfortable. For example handing a prisoners off to an SS officer and hearing submachine gun fire after you walk out of view. See HBO's Band of Brothers. I would draw the line at playing Nazi/White Supremicy Propoganda games. I know they exist.
I would like to play a German soldier during WWII but as a an actual Nazi?... no. Must German soldiers during WWII may have been known as Nazis but many of them didn't agree with the ideas of Nazis and had no choice in fighting. A lot of troops didn't like the fighting or the killing but had no choice. Some even chose not to fight on some occasions, for example there was a fight between the SBS (Special Boat Service) and another German spec-ops which lasted for about an hour before the Germans stopped and refused to fight after learning who that they were fighting SBS troops. Reason for doing so was because they respected the SBS and stated "Good men should not fight other good men".
yes but I dont think "hardcore" gamers would want to play as the losing side I would like to play it for "historical value"
I was actually just thinking of this yesterday. I was reading Yahtzee's "On Nazis" E.P., and I got myself wondering what a WWII game would be like from the PoV of a Nazi soldier, especially if they made it a sympathetic character, and not just a psychopath who sustains himself exclusively on the blood of old lady's and babies.

I've played omnicidal monsters and psychotic murderers. I really don't see any issue with playing a 'normal' bad guy.

Not all Germans were nazis, some were just drafted by the goverment to fight for the German army.
I would actually if the game required me to play the character in the German army and if the game did something with it other then just WW2.
Maybe time in the Wermachat army gave him the training to fight, but I would it like it if they came up with a much more orginal storyline to follow it.

I would prefer not to. But unless the game was SimAuschwitz or Jewkill II or something, it'd be bearable. I'm sure a lot of the German infantry didn't hold with disgusting racialist ideologies.
