As long as they keep the gritty, disturbing realism that happened in WW2.

The intro for CoD:WaW was excellent; not much to say about the rest of the game.

Yes. Not that I support the ideals of the Nazi party, but at least it'd send out the message that WW2 was actually a morally-complex and dangerous place. Russian civilans are massacred at an airport in MW2; a similar event could hold much more meaning in a WW2 context, especially if the Nazi protagonist was portrayed as a human being, and not just some fascist "bad guy" determined to do as much evil as possible, like they're always portrayed. Many of them were forced into service and had no other choice but to fight for the Nazi party.

I wouldn't mind WW2 games so much if they at least tried to bring something new to the table. Having a deep and emotionally-complex Nazi as a protagonist would be a great way to show the world something other than all the "patriotic US Marines kicking ass" clones currently out there. I'd definately support it, so long as it approached the relevent issues with respect.

Wouldnt being a card carrying reich supporting nazi mean killing Jews, hanging civvies from lamp posts and carrying out other attrocities they commited? So by saying "yeah, i'd play as a nazi, but without the jew killing" what you really mean is "No, i wouldnt play as a nazi, but i'd be interested in seeing WW2 from the Germans perspective"

I just fail to see how the role of the german soldier in a game could be made any more fun by making him a nazi. As one person in this thread said, defending Leningrad would be pretty awesome, but defending Leningrad and then popping off to the nearest concentration camp for a bonus game of seeing how many Jews you could fit inside a single shower block? No thanks.

it doesn't matter to me, anyway we play as stormtroopers and such (which are space nazis) so it is not a big push

Absoloutely. It would provide an entirely new perspective rarely seen in games, but then again the game would probably have to be set in either an a)alternate reality where the Germans won, or b)The game would end around 1943. I just don't think people would enjoy playing a game that they're ultimately going to lose.

Personally, I probably wouldn't play a game as a Nazi.

In an RTS named Rise og Nations i made my own cutom map of the battle of France and therefore i have played as the nazis! Dude nazis were bad okay we get it, now get over it!

No; but I would play as a German. Most German soldiers were not party members, they were German citizens doing their duty to their country. I'd be quite happy to play as one of them.

Sure not all German soldiers were nazis. Only the SS were nazis, but they did have snazzier uniforms.

Yes, its a game and most German soldiers weren't Nazis, even the SS wasn't all Nazis. (including Waffen). I play as the Germans every chance I get, Empire Earth II, Rise of Nations, and the Road to War scenario for Civ IV BTS.

I would and have been playing as a german soldier but as a nazi one.. I probably would if I liked the game enough.

Whats the differance of massacring with a nazi, and massacring with an american, shooters are all the same anyways, so it doesn't matter who you are when doing the killing.

The one-sided view of World War II is pissing me off. You're always playing an American or Brit, even though it was the Russians who did the dirty work.

Actually in CoD WWII games you get to play as all three Allies but I would like to see more games that let you play as Nazis even though as someoen already said the media would all over it whinging about it even though there's this thing called free speech that isn't all that free.

I think I'd only play as a Nazi in a multiplayer WW2 game like Red Orchestra or something.

It would be a bit weird to have an entire game based on the Axis powers.

Then again, if you were in the Wermacht you're not exactly guaranteed to be a Nazi. If you're in the SS though, I think the chances would rise exponentially.
