I actually can't believe almost 20% of the people who voted would kill everybody else on this planet for the sake of themselves. To me this seems disgusting....
No, your option to save them is disguising. How can you possibly justify the continuation of greed, hate, murder, exploitation, disease, overpopulation, starvation, corruption, and just overall suffering?

The only humane thing to do is to let them all die, and then live the rest of your life knowing that you solved all of those terrible problems.

I really hope you're joking or trolling, when you consider all of the beauty and love in this world those problems pale, better to live a flawed existence than not at all.
Sure the initial threshold might seem, counterintuitive. But if you think about it, this one time "bad" act will stop an infinite amount of suffering.

So tell me, is it not cowardice to think yourself too righteous to put the human race out of it's suffering? If it had been done long ago, it would have been a lot easier. Plus, afterwards, no one will be around to mind your decision.
True, that would put an end to all suffering, all pain, all torment. But it would also end all the good things in this world; the laugh of a happy child, the tenderness of two lover's first kiss, the excitement of a rollercoaster, the beauty of the sun coming up over the mountains... life is a great treasure and to threw it all away would be a loss greater than any other.

If there was a third option that killed everyone as well as me I'd take that, but as it is I'd kill everyone else first, I genuinely believe that human evolution went too far. It would be like hitting the reset button and maybe something else could get it right.

Or perhaps we could have a fourth button that only killed 99% of the human race? I'd definitely take that one, we're due a good culling. (It would require yourself to be one of the 99% though)

I'd kill myself. Even if i pushed the other button. I couldn't live knowing I was responsible for 7 billion deaths. Innocent or not. I can't see myself choosing to kill others for my own sake if it could be avoided.

I better get a statue. Or at least a Wikipedia page.
(don't know if it's been used, didn't check)

There are even a few individuals i'd give my life for, so this is kind of a no brainer.

I choose... BOTH!

(Pulls off amazing heroic acrobats and the whole place explodes leaving the question of whether I survived up in the air. Roll Credits)

....If I'm the only human left how the heck do I live? There will be no one to keep the gears of society turning, and there will be no one to stop my loneliness (or make new games....or even keep the power on, etc)

I'd save humanity, but only if everyone knows I saved them. So I get immortalized as a hero and hopefully make people give a damn about each other.

Yup I would do it since the race will surely accomplise something what I can't do by myself.

I think I would be upset if they didn't.

Why would you want to live if everyone else is dead. Add to that you caused it.

I don't plan to live forever, so I'll choose to die right here.
Of course, my first choice of deaths is feeding myself to a tiger at the ripe old age of 71, but dying so the rest of humanity may live is nice, too.

Can a single person go crazy if there is no society to create the socially constructed definition of crazy?

I'm also surprised so many people think that they would be able to survive for such a short period of time. If no one else existed it would not be difficult to procure resources. And even when electrical refrigeration stopped being an option there would still be ways to preserve food. People lived without modern technology for thousands of years. What would be stopping me from replicating their modes of survival?

SIDE NOTE:
I'm glad that there is that "instantly vanish into thin air dead" clause. I think I would choose to die if I had to live among the corpses of everyone else.

I'd probably pick to save myself, it would be so much fun to run around doing whatever I want!

I did not join the service with the expectation that I would be the sole survivor of the human race. I joined with the expectation that I would have to make the ultimate sacrifice for my people, be that my countrymen, humanity, or the soldier standing next to me. Without question, I sacrifice myself.

The most selfless option of killing everyone but myself.

It makes sense if you think about it, albeit a little depressive..
