I used to reload all the time, and that typically ended up getting me killed.

Now I generally only reload if I either have less than half a magazine's worth of ammo in my current clip, or if I know I am completely safe.

I like to reload right after a kill, but i always do a quick look around before hand just in case there are any enemys i misses or apper right after the dude i just killed

Normally a "frantic" kill takes up 3/4 of my clip so I always reload after a kill because you never know how many bullets it will take to kill your next enemy.

The only game with guns I play is Mass Effect. Therefore, I don't think about reloading (in the second game) until I'm told to.

It depends What game and who I am playing as...
In TF2, I play spy, so I cloak and go out of cover so I can find some ammo on the ground
On Battlefield games, I reload after every kill

I reload when I know I can't kill a person with the current amount of bullets left in the magazine.

I played a lot of Battlefield 2 back in the day, and in that game, you had magazines.

You start with a few, and every time you reload, whether or not you fire 1 bullet or 15, every reload uses 1 magazine. and you don't get a lot of magazines.

The only exception is shotguns, where you reload by putting in the shells 1 by 1, in that case I reload whenever I'm able.

Basically, I make my shots count, and reload only when I have to.
Do people still play Battlefield 2?

I reload when there are allies around to cover me, I don't reload often, for a start it wastes bullets in certain games, and also in CS:S it takes a max of 4 bullets to make a kill, on average I fire in 2 shot bursts.

I reload right after a kill, unless of course there's two people pointing their guns at me. Sometimes this habit gets me killed, when I begin reloading, and another enemy comes around a corner. :[

Anytime safe.
That is to say, whenever someone isn't shooting at me.
That includes when the enemy briefly stops shooting for whatever reason.
Some call it OCD I call it preparedness.

Always after a kill, but I make sure I'm relatively safe first. I used to reload after every bullet, but kicked the habit just recently.

Right after a kill, impulsively. This has gotten me in trouble so many times in MW2 when I kill one guy, reload, and then his buddy comes around the corner and feeds me a buckshot sammich while I'm busy shoving bullets in my gun.

Looks like I'm not the only one who likes to play it safe. Takes less time to reload than it does to pick another weapon, for me anyway.

Randomly, one bullet is used I'll reload, getting rushed by someone I'll reload because I didn't reload before hand, thank god for not having to equip your knife in MW 2.
