I'd love to see them do WoT, but I just don't see how that's possible. The cast would be massive, and they split up fairly early on in the books. I just don't see how a TV series could follow the plot without it becoming a huge mess.

Then again, Lost was pretty popular, so maybe that doesn't really matter.

Would've said Wheel of Time, but after the second book it gets SUPER boring and repetitive so I guess the TV series would be just like that. SO I'm going with Discworld.

Voted Wheel of Time because I love Wheel of Time.

Though it would need as many seasons as The Simpsons to get all the content in.

It already does, A Song of Fire and Ice, by George RR "Goes To Far With Practical Jokes" Martin.

I'm saying that he wrote the first four books with no intention of releasing the remaining three as a practical joke. It becomes more plausible every day.
In the process of rereading this series again...just started A Feast For Crows. imo I think George feeds off the suffering and anguish of his eagerly awaiting fans.
I would agree, but not even Jesus has as many fans as it would take to make George that big.

That seemed less mean in my head.

Lies of Locke Lamora aka The Gentlemen Bastards. And the Eisenhorn trilogy.

I voted Discworld, but I'd love to see Stephen King's The Dark Tower series turned into a television series.
I voted other, with that series in mind. Its huge and involving. you could have enough seasons to rival those of sitcoms. I'd love to take a trip to the land of the tower and see the fields of roses.

Gotta go with Discworld.
The Continuously Inept Adventures of Rincewind sounds like an awesome show. Either that or a series based on the City Watch would be awesome. I'd personally prefer the City Watch, since Sam Vine is awesome.

Too bad Ol' Terry Pratchett is slowly losing his mind. It just wouldn't have quite the same touch without him writing it.

Goodnight sweet prince. :/

I am disappoint about the lack of Wheel of Time love.
I know! If they do it right, and the effects budget is decent (let's face it, it'd have to be) then it could be amazing! That and other than Lord of the Rings (which already has movies), that's the only series on that list I've actually read.

None, None, NONE!!!

If there is any book series that is well-loved enough for us to want more, it is well-loved enough to not want it bastardized as a TV series. What they've done with the existing Discworld TV movies is ok, and what they're doing with the Game of Thrones miniseries on HBO looks promising, but a regular TV series? No thank you!
I voted other and my option is similarly "none."

Mostly because I keep getting Dresden Files flashbacks.

Conan. Most of the stories could be adapted into single episodes, the novellas split into multiple parts. Get HBO to do it. Make it into a short series like Rome.

Seeing as anything that's got worth as a novel usually adapts terribly to the small screen, I suggest Tom Arden's Orokon series. Such terrible things could hardly be spoiled by a script editor.

Discworld has been done, and is quite good.
The Lord of the Rings doesn't need a TV series, it has the movies and animated miniseries
A Game of Thrones isn't a series, it's the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire series and it's getting a TV series.
Wheel of Time is overrated, you'd have to take out 50% of the content after about book 5 for any TV series to be even mildly entertaining.
Have not read any of the Riftwar Saga (Magician) so I can't pass judgement there.

I think you'd have to choose a series that doesn't rely on mythical creatures that would be expensive to create and ultimately end up looking silly on a TV budget (such as Temeraire or really anything with Dragons).

Personally I think Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone by Greg Keyes would make for a great TV miniseries. It has its following, but it isn't so sacred that you couldn't change things to adapt to the new medium without upsetting a large fan community. It wouldn't be effects heavy, as the series uses mythical creatures sparingly. It may not be as high profile a source material as something like Wheel of Time, but as I mentioned that can be a good thing.

Erikson's Malazan Empire. Would not fit in a movie (or a trilogy). I think the timing / chronology would be more suitable for TV. Just need good FX / director of course.

Well, I would like to see Terry Brooks. I reckon he has the fantasy thing down.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy.
I would really love to see more books (or maybe, say, a TV series!) on Bartimaeus' earlier adventures, or even later ones.

Would be epic. And so so so brutal.

Any series by David Eddings, I mean COME ON!! His series' have two series, an opening one and another one that's like five years later, that would be epic.
Oh wow. That too. Could even turn The Redemption Of Althalus into a movie.I really need those books. It's been a while since I read them, I used to get them out of my school library, but I can't anymore.

This. I also recommend reading Darren Shan's Vampire Series aswell, if you haven't read that. That should be a TV series too!
I just finished re-reading it actually becasue it was a few years ago when I read it last. Its still as awesome as ever. Now that I've read it I can go onto reading the Saga of Larten Crepsley without forgetting anything.
I literally bought the first book in the new Saga of Larten Crepsley and finished it yesterday. Quite good, however I finished it quickly but I guess that is because i'm a fast reader.
What's this about new books? How many are out?
Heh, every time I reread the Darren Shan saga I go through three books a day. Since they're kinda in trilogies... Just can't stop reading them.
