The Scream. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, The Scream.

It's the most fun to parody, too!
This, had to vote for the scream, and the story behind it is also quite freaky, its an awesome looking into the mind of someone losing their sanity.

I'd save this:
Glacier of Rosenlaui by John Brett

The image doesn't do it justice, but it's so well done it looks like you could set through the canvas onto the glacier. It stopped my mum and me dead in our tracks as we were walking through the Tate Gallery in London.

Starry Night looks really calm but the twirling of the sky is supposed to be the turmoil of emotion that Van Gogh had when he looked at the town. Plus the cyprus tree on the left represented death for him. It's a really deceptively calm and happy picture when underneath the artist was in a lot of pain.

Love it ;)

Out of these choices I would go with the Sistine Chapel, mainly because it's a whole frickin' building.

Granted, I would try to save them all...

However, if the poll is attempting to ask what is my favorite work of art, it is:

Nighthawks by Edward Hopper

I would save Falling Water, the famous house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.[footnote]Architecture is art too![/footnote]

It shows us that it's okay for such an Adonis to have a small penis.
Wait, that's not ok?....Crap

OT: I'd try to save anything and everything that looks like this:

The chapel clearly. Its huge, beautiful, taken ages to make and the worlds greatest artists added their own touch to it.

I've always personally been partial to The Thinker [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The_Thinker,_Rodin.jpg] so I would save that.

Rodin's "The Gates of Hell" has always been a favourite, but damned if I know how I'd transport it. It's huge! (Also, standing in Rodin's backyard. Difficult to access.)

I'll just save van Gogh's stuff, my country hasn't done that many special things so whatever makes us famous should be preserved.

None. There's far more important things to save.

THat's the problem these days, look at us in Australia and I'm sure elsewhere as well, they spent a few million dollars renovating an old building of sentimental value instead of say, using that money for necessary things, like health care or education.

Yes, I did just use the question of the day as an allegory of humanity's failings.

Being Norwegian, I'd save The Scream, as it's a lot closer than the rest, and has already been through quite a lot. Sorry if I'm overly patriotic about this, but it is the ONE painting we've got that anyone outside of Norway has actually heard about. (It's even been in Simpsons episodes.)
