when i close friend of mine (she used to be blond, but changed hair color to brown *indicates avatar*) asked what the UN was in the middle of a class quiz. this was in October last year, i think.

i bursted out laughing, but she was serious...

too bad it was her. i like her alot, and shes pretty cute as well.

or in 2nd grade when a friend of mine having a habit of kicking me in the shins for the fun of it. everytime he tried (literally several times in a row), he ended up jumping around on 1 foot in pain (i seriously didnt touch him, he just kept kicking, and it never hurted on me).

people calling Techno music (90% of all i hear on the radio (GaGa, Rihanna, all that shit) i consider techno aswell because of the ridicolous amounts of autotune...) gives me strokes.

No respect for people who think like that.
what? they are. just recently, an American precision missile (their maximal possible miss is 1 inch.) was aimed at a Taliban hideout. guess who they killed? 0 Talibans and 128 innocent children. and that has happened before.

I stumbled across a Youtube video with some guy explaining that we live on the inside of a hollow earth and that all the stars and pictures of space are just of street lights and fish. I can think of no possible way to refute this argument. It's just too watertight.
That's taken from a Robert Rankin book "The most amazing man who ever lived" I think, it's the story of the Genius Hugo Rune who (while defrauding people out of lunches) goes on to prove that it is impossible to work 8 hours a day 5 days a week and that the Hollow earth theory is proved by the fact that a scale Atlas cannot be placed around a same scale globe without cutting bits out.

Very silly but very funny author.

I had this girl ask me the other day:

"What's Global Warming?"

I stared at her for a few seconds then replied, "I'm sorry I blacked out; my mind isn't used to that level of stupidity."
Was there a person there that laughed at both of you?

You might want to google/research "climate gate".

If you want to see stupidity that will make you question the future of humanity, watch the "Jaywalking" segment on Jay Leno, I swear to god, there are some people who don't recognize Dick Cheney even when his picture is right in front of hteir goddamn faces. Oh wait it gets better, there are some people that god forgot to kill running around out there in the world that can't even find North America or Canada on the fucking map even when the countries have their names on the map in big blue letters. And then of course my personal favorite, when people are on the computer and the computer says, "press any key to continue" they ask, "which key is any key".

In a similar note, people who say that producing electronic music (I refuse to refer to Hardcore & Psytrance as "Techno") takes no talent, it's just "pressing a button on a computer".

Also, people who believe that the moon landings were faked.

Ever heard of peer review? Its how we identify the liars and call them on their lies.

I was being pretty philosophical when I was talking about the lying stuff. Especially these days, information is virtually impossible to verify. I'm not saying most of it is crap, I don't think it is, but the possibility exists, and if you're calling Creationists stupid for listening to their pastors then why aren't you stupid for listening to your scientists? I'm just saying.

Most strong athiests ARE as close-minded as theists. I don't understand how you can think an agnostic athiest is contradictory though, that's just stupid. Anyone who mentions sin, EVER, is a serious and finger-pointing way, automatically has their argument invalidated (on either side, thank you.)

Athiesm doesn't take as much faith as religion, it takes as much ignorence.
There is a huge difference between a creationist pastor and an evolutionary biologist. The pastor bases his beliefs on a single ancient book, whereas the biologist bases his beliefs on evidence and experimentation. Could the biologist POSSIBLY be lying and POSSIBLY have gotten his lies past peer review? Certainly. Plenty of things are possible. It is possible that right now if I walk outside I will be struck by a crashing airplane. Does that possibility mean I should stay inside for fear of falling aircraft?

And yes, most strong atheists could be considered 'closed-minded'. They are making a claim to KNOW that something does NOT exist, when proving a negative is nigh impossible. However, you will find that the vast majority of atheist are 'weak' or 'agnostic' atheists precisely for this reason.

And I would really like to know what in the world you mean by that last sentence.

To stay on topic, in my AP American Government class in High School, we were doing a sort of 'mock legislature' activity where we would amend, debate, and vote on fake bills. One of those bills dealt with gun control. The hand of one of the girls in the class shot up:
"What's a handgun?"

/facepalm

This. Jdam precision missiles are accurate to 13 meters which is about 42 feet. Also, it could have been incorrect information between the ground troops, command, and the pilots. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/jdam.htm

Biology class.

"Now pipe the water across the goldfish's gills..."
"What if he drowns?"

"What are a deer's antlers made of?"
"Wood!" -stated with such retarded certainty, it became that kid's new nickname. Industrial pollutants do horrible things to young minds.

But the worst display of stupidity I've ever seen?

2004 American Presidential election.

people who rag on my religion. they say Christianity is forced on them, and say how stupid I am, and how I should be Atheistic. Seems very hypocritical.
I respect you, and your views good sir, don't call me an idiot for having my own.

Two words: Fred Phelps
GNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Why must you make me turn green and double in size, wrecking my comfy computer chair? :(
Hey, don't blame me. According to Phelps, it's all OUR fault you broke your chair, because God hates us for "harboring" homosexuals (okay, so it's half my fault). Just remember, lacktheknack: we are to blame for all things wrong. XD
And I'm a Christian, no less. Phelps, your inconsistencies know no bounds.

Well, I think you at least understand. I just don't think it's fair to call creationists stupid because they believe what they've been told, just like the rest of us. We've never seen a primary source, at least not most of us. You appreciate what I'm trying to say, right?

Similarly, most religious people are the same way. Most aren't close-minded, they just get offended a lot by strong athiest douchebags. Sure, there are fundies, but there are athist fundies too. I have no issue with atheism, it's the assholism that is so often associated with it. Just like the way most of them view Christianity.

The last sentance is as it reads. Both strong athiesm and religious fundamentalism are steeped in ignorence, the close-minded nature to be unable to accept the possibility that you just don't know. Ironically, it's more ignorant to say you know than don't. It's an interesting paradox.
I would have no problem with creationists if they could just admit that their position is based entirely on faith. This is not the case however, as places like Ken Ham's Creation Museum demonstrate. They have no problem warping the findings of real scientists to fit their views or outright assaulting the credibility of those same scientists. They push these views on their children, and in many cases, other people's children, before they even have the chance to think for themselves. They claim they have 'evidence', but that the Great Satanic Science Conspiracy is covering it all up. These are the things that upset me.

As for atheism and 'assholism', I contend that the relationship is purely in the minds of the religious. Idiocy is an equal opportunity employer, it doesn't care what your stance on god(s) is.

I agree with the last sentence there really, you just didn't say 'strong atheism' or 'fundamentalism' initially.
