Tell her that her addiction to god is more dangerous than your enjoyment of games and books, your activities have never harmed anyone - christians have killed loads of people in the name of god, more than nutjob gamers ever will.

If people are trying to stop games from influencing people to kill why can't we try to stop religion? It's only fair.

This is why I am not fond of religion. It gives people so much leeway to do what they want. Bush and Blair for instance. She shouldn't be allowed to throw her ideals all over people who don't want them. You should try petitioning her to piss off.

And I think we should all have a minute's silence for that poor, poor son of hers.

Religion has no place in school politics at all.

This gives me great rage, yes teach kids about other religion and belief systems but one parent has o right to dictate how other children should be taught.

Next she will ask for the theory of evolution to be removed.

Religion is a powerful tool, capable of making tools of us all.

A friend of mine once convinced our homeroom teacher that he was the member of a religion in which touching, eating and even thinking about fish was a sin. All that just to get the lesson off (because the fish was really gross). Yeah, she wasn't too bright.

Religion should not be an excuse for forcing ancient dogmatic rules down other peoples throats.

Well... why not? Because in theory, one could argue that God IS the Devil.

I say distract her by forming some sort of gay pride society. Not because I am suggesting anyone is gay (I don't care at all. Seriously, whatever), but because it would give her something else to think about and get her off the idea of "Entertainment is Evil".

1. She has no right, she's forcing her beliefs onto you. Just another case of self-important religious people, trying to be all-mighty and saint-like by abolishing something they consider unholy instead of respecting someone's else beliefs. If this happened at my school, I'd just say "You're intruding on my beliefs".
2. Everyone should keep their religion to themselves, not force them onto someone.
3. No. If you enjoy it, it's not a waste. As long as it's taken in moderation.
4. They have no proof, and they're letting their beliefs go out over their real life and other people. How many soldiers haven't said "I was sent by God" and goes out to kill people. It's stupid.
My thoughts exactly.

I am an athiest myself, but I am entirely for people having their own religious beliefs granted they are positive and are not -forced- upon them. I can't say that women sounds very ethical to me, I doubt I'd stand for it...

Otherwise I see nothing wrong with most of religion, so long as it teaches a positive message. I will however come out and say that Scientology is evil and should be banned- that is NOT a religion, it is a cult. God Buddah Allah and Moses bless Germany for prohibiting it.

I hate to be controversial here, but all religious fruit-cakery aside you shouldn't be playing counter-strike or reading comic books in school hours (even in your 'free' time). Outside of school, fine, but in school you should be studying. It's called trying to make the most out of your potential.
This. You're in a school dammit, you should be learning. I don't mind games like Number Munchers, Jeopardy, or The Oregon Trail, since they actually teach you things (like shooting one buffalo then ignoring everything else to save on bullets). I haven't been on Steam since it's inception, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's nothing educational on there (no, Left 4 Dead is not a simulator to prepare you for the Zombie Apocalypse). You shouldn't have comic books in the library, but I'll let them slide, because you're actually reading something.

She's right, you shouldn't have the games, you shouldn't have the comics. She's just using the wrong argument to get rid of them.

What exactly is the use of extremists? All of them usually turn out to be glorified trolls, just in real life. I'm sick of exetremists giving the rest of my religion (Catholic, in case anyone's interested) a bad name and rep. [rant] If it were up to me, your school would slap the extremist 'til her eyeballs switch places and tell her to lighten up and stop being so fucking stupid[/rant]

Sorry, got a little worked up there.

EDIT: Extremists are good for one thing...Present them with fossil evidence of evolution and watch them try and deny all logic. HILARIOUS!

Y'know what we should do? We should form a "Christian" church with views and beliefs the EXACT opposite(except for basic theological stuff, like God and Jesus) of most churches, and try and push our views on them. We could lobby, protest, and preach hate just like they do, and maybe they will start to see what they are doing.
It exists. Kinda. Except without the "hate" part. Google "Episcopal Church".

My dad is an Episcopal priest. He is the one who got me into gaming in the first place. With Goldeneye 007.

Also, OP: Consider yourself lucky for having games and comics at your school in the first place, dammit. If you even so much as bring your DS to my school and a teacher catches a glimpse of it, it gets taken away, even if it's before school and you're waiting for class to start.
