The endings to the last two seasons of House.

In particular,
Amber's death. God that was just painful to watch.

The death of
Solomon Grundy
during the first season of Justice League Unlimited, and the departure of
Hawkgirl
at the end of season one. I've been watching this show a lot recently, and it is really good, I can't believe I missed this show as a kid. That in itself is kinda sad.

Buying Firefly on Dvd, then realising I'd seen all I'd ever see, forever.
*sadface*
T.T agreed. Not to mention the deaths of
Shepherd Book and Wash
during the movie, but honestly, the last episode of the show, they knew it, and the whole episode is kind of a big goodbye to the show, making it one of the saddest things I've ever seen ever.

Mines got to be almost every moment in Band of Brothers.

Mainly when Buck finds his two best friends bleeding ou on the floor in Bastoigne

I think every season of 24 has it's sad moments.

But the clear winner for me is Dexter

Dexter finally marries his girlfriend, Rita, and moves in with her, and they start to bring up their family. Throughout series 4, he goes about tracking down a new serial killer (called Trinity), culminating in the killers death in the final episode. Right before he finishes him, Trinity tells Dexter it's already over.

Dexter then goes home to find Rita murdered in the bath in the same style as Trinity's other victims, with their newborn son sitting crying on the blood-covered floor.

Now this was sad in itself, but I think the saddest moment is when you watch the episode again, and notice the sadness in Trinity's eyes as he tries to tell Dexter that he's already murdered his wife with his final words ...

I didn't cry, but it was one of those moments that just sucked the energy out of me.
i still don't think it was him, because his character has rigid set of rules when it comes to his... victims, and Rita is out of all three
Hmm, I'm not sure. It's a hell of a coincidence if it wasn't him.

Anyway, series 5 is supposed to start at exactly the point that one finished, so we'll miss nothing

Futuramma's Jurassic Bark has already been mentioned.

my second saddest would be the Stargate SG-1 two parter "Heroes". Unexpected, and emotional. I won't spoil it, but it is very well told, and a different take on the series' usual tone and style.

There's a whole bunch to pick from, and I really can't decide which one takes the cake.

House, M.D.:
- S04E16 (Wilson's Heart)
- S05E06 (Joy)
- S05E20 (Simple Explanation)

Scrubs:
- S03E?? (My Screwup)

Futurama:
- S??E?? (Jurassic Bark)

I won't spoiler anything, if you want to know the stories behind all of these go watch them. And keep a hanky nearby.

The day Survivor debuted.

Or the ending of Sopranos.

EDIT: Sorry, thought you meant sad as in pathetic. I would then say when Silvo whacks Adriana. The Mob was forced into doing it, I blame the FBI which coerced her and then gave her zero protection.

When in Metalocalypse...
Dethklok's manager is killed in the final episode of season 2, I was very upset.
Then I learned that he comes back at the end of the first episode of season 3, so I was happy.

The abrupt end of Firefly.
The end of Farscape.
Richard D. Anderson's reduced screen time and eventually his exit from Stargate SG1.

Jurassic Bark.

Damn you, Futurama. Damn you.
I both love and hate that episode. It's a good episode and really funny, but I just can't get passed the ending without tearing up. Futurama is seriously one of the best shows ever made.

The Sopranos finale. I'm not obsessed with the series or anything, but ending such a tense show in the middle of a conversation with no plot resolution was just a bi-

The death of
Mrs. Cropley in The Vicar of Dibley.

But that was made up for by
her telling everyone individually to dress up as the Easter Bunny on her death bed.

And I can't be the only one who thinks losing David Tennant in Doctor Who has got to be one of the saddest moments in television history.

I teared up a little at the end of Cowboy Bebop when Spike died and that really sad song played.
