Wow really I am surprised noone has mentioned this one but here it goes, the saddest movie I ever saw was "Ladder 49" I almost went into tears over how sad that was.

Old Yeller, I know it's a book but there's a movie too. Oh shit forgot about Where the Red Fern Grows, also a book but there's also a movie. Either one of those.

*sigh* It takes a lot to make me cry. Pan's Labyrinth's ending had me bawling tho...I was laughing at my tears--"IT'S SO SAAAAAAAAAAAD!" *whimpers yet smiles*

Grave of the Fireflies gets a fourth or fifth or whatever vote from me.
It's a good movie that people need to see, but it's incredibly saddening.

I don't cry all that often, but the most recent one was when I watched the new Star Trek with my boyfriend.

As a woman, that moment was a little too real for me even though I don't have any kids yet...

Grave of the Fireflies.

Seriously, that was simultaneously the most thought-provoking and emotionally draining movie I ever saw. The last bit I hardly saw through the tears. =S Excellent move though.

The one that saddened me most in another way recently was Agora - the way things end up for Hypatia made tears of pure hate and rage well up in my eyes. Seriously, I left that movie feeling physically ill. Intense stuff...

What is the saddest movie you have ever seen in the history of your life? My choice would be Star Wars: Episode III. When Anakin is turned to the dark side, and kills those kids, and later Padme, I came the closest to crying in that movie than I have in my life.
This? Really... This? Dear christ your either the most slovenly emotional fanboy ever if you even consider that movie to be on par with the others, let alone tear inducing, or your so emotionally shallow that only lame and sappy story lines that are told much better in a thousand other movies can register a bleep. Could you think of nothing else?
Ya, I'm chugging Hatorade for episode 3 and your choice.

Also, while grave of the fireflies was "good", it wasn't tearful for me. Honestly, it was just to strait-forward and sad, morbid, grim, and generally awful for me to cry. It was stunning, the indifference of the adults. A must see, but its just too blunt for tears. It makes you sad tho...

The movie Wit, with Emma Thompson, Christopher Lloyd, and the dumb guy from Firefly that was smuggling organs in that one episode.

I have watched it twice. Everyone I know who has seen it breaks down and cries.

It is a beautiful movie though

To Kill A Mockingbird - I know it's a classic but it was just so sad it made me dislike the movie.

It almost feels like cheating because it's a book, but Of Mice and Men makes me bawl every time. It's a devastatingly good movie.

The house of living and the dead, (UK title). So dramatic, the title sounds like it would be splatter/horror/zombie movie. It is dramatic movie about Bussiness man with mentally handicapped son and sick wife, lots of dramatic events, it tells you how love can hurt the one who you love.

And, Requiem for a dream, extremely dramatic movie about addictions.

I don't consider it to be even remotely on par with any of the others. It is the worst of the six, but it is sad dammit.
