Pfft. Screw Gamestop. I have Ice Man.
Their store in Peterburough shut down so now it's just the one on Kent Street in Lindsay.
I love that store. Everything's cheap and the people that work there are super cool. You can find pretty much anyting that was ever popular and they don't treat everybody the same.
One time I came in, took two games off the shelf, asked one of the people working there which one he thought I should get, and he looked at my Naruto T-shirt (I actually hate Naruto - my cousin bought it for me so I force myself to wear it sometimess), infered that I cared about storylines, and told me to get the one with a substantial story.
In addition, about half the people working there are women, so I don't have to worry about being treated like a casual gamer because I'm a girl gamer.
And they sell records, comics, figures, trading cards, movies... and all the while they are, above all else, a game store. It's the best!

I, too, seem to have the holy grail of Gamestops. It's staffed by competent people who aren't dicks, and the selection is pretty good.

They sold my friend a used PS3 for new and tried to insist that the rubberbands and such were standard. They couldn't explain the dust though.
They've done a lot of other shady things to me as well so I'll hate them plenty still.

Only problem I've had with mine is the fact that they wouldn't hire me. Bastards. >_>
The manager at one of them even agreed with me that Crysis 2 will probably be ruined because they were making it for consoles too.

Mine is pretty good just because I like the people who work there, but they don't carry any games before PS2, they have bullshit prices on games and they don't give you shit for trading in games.

I just traded in a brand new Darksiders and got 26 dollars for it.

And about tips, I don't know. Its pretty self explanitory. Prepare for a great fucking game.
What is wrong with anything you said here?

They have limited shelf space. You cant make money if you have to give 5 dollars to every mom who brings in 200 of her sons old Nintendo and PS1 games. The games sit on a shelf for years.

I doubt your copy was brand new. Did you play it? If so, it's not brand new, it is USED. they are a business, no one is FORCING you to sell your games to them.

Mine is a pretty nice place. Very clean, and the people behind the counter are friendly and helpful. Plus I was able to get Darkwatch and Serious Sam 2 there the other day as a Buy-One-Get-One-Free deal, so I'm happy.

No it [i/]was[/i] brand new.

My grandmother got me a copy the day I bought one and when I tried to take it back to Walmart where she bought it, they said they can't take it because its already opened at which point I told them its a bullshit policy then went to gamestop and sold a brand new unplayed copy to Gamestop.

Question, I was thinking about applying but I heard you have to be 18 since technically it's considered a pawn shop

OT: If you want a game traded in go to BlockBuster. They have some pretty good prices like a few weeks ago I traded in Halo Wars for 17.50
not sure if it's answered yet, but you have to be 17 or 18 to sell M rated games.

Can't have a 15 year old carding a 20 year old to make sure he's old enough to buy a game.

If the plastic is gone, it's considered open. It's hardly a bullshit policy.

i live on the mass/nh border and its annoying because the gamestop in mass is really good but the tax makes a 60$ game a 72$ game so I always end up going to new hampsire and the two shitty ones.

Yeah, I loved my Gamestop, but since then I've gone for GameFly right now as it better fits my "gotta playing something new a week" feel for most games, which is sad because I want to stay on one game longer but there's always a game I want around the corner.

I hate them i hate them i hate them. The pc section has been getting smaller and smaller every year and they have nothing but all the sims and a few copies of whatever was released that month. BUT that said i did find a gamestop selling gba games for ?1 each including the minish cap and the golden sun games so its a bit of a mixed bag.
Again, PC demand is smaller, therefor supply will be smaller. The mass majority of people use steam or Pirate games. It's very rarely anyone goes to a store to buy a PC game anymore.

No you can't. Once you open the game, you can only trade it in for another copy of the game.
I don't understand how you dont get that?

Bring game home, burn game onto blank disc, bring game back to wal-mart for full refund? No. It makes complete sense and EVERY store is this way.

First off, yes you can get a full refund (or at least I can). I've done it with 3 games so far; Valkyria Chronicles, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, and Prototype.

And how the hell do you burn a PS3 game onto a disk? Is that even possible. I know it is with PS2, but PS3? Really?

I've worked at gamestop, and I'm telling you, you cant unless the game you bought was USED and didn't work 100%.

You expect stores to allow you to go in, open the games, and try every single game possible until you find one you like? No! that would be stupid.

And yes of course you can illegally burn and transfer next gen games.

Okay, well every Gamestop I've been in have let me do that and without question as long as its within the 7 days of purchase.

No, I don't expect stores to do that. I expect them to let me return it if I have 2 goddamn copies of the game and I have 2 people to vouch for me that I'm not some kid looking for cash.

And I didn't know you could do that with current gen games. You must have one beast of a computer to do that though.

there's one thing i reproche on Gamestop, it's that it allow creditcard-hackers to buy from them, i know that because a hacker got into a bunch of accounts in the main french banking company and i saw on my father's sheet retrieval of hundreds of euros, in a Gamestop store in the USA, Miami... so that's about it.
